acmilano
From what I can see, whole that subculture kinda dissapeared from medias, kinda retreated. Hip-Hop used to be big deal, there was bunch of rappers and fanboys in all countries all over the world, but its just not that popular anymore.New kids listening Bieber,Ladu Gaga, and bunch of low quality pop music. Even older rappers move away from their roots; Now 50 Cents rapping about how much money he have and how many b*tches he f*ck,and Snoop Dog making duets like this: It was hard to watch it. Its about money of course,so I guess everything come and goes. And I remember GTA San Andreas and first 2 Saints Row games and even some other attempts like 25 to Life game. But game developers probably from businnes point of view abandoned those gang concepts and in sequels give us Bank Robbers and Aliens. Even on this forum when ever someone suggest more of 'Gangsta ' elements in GTA V there is a huge opposition saying its 'stupid' and 'go play San Andreas'. So I guess era of 'Gangsta' games is over. Movies also abandoned that long time ago. After few movies like 'Menace 2 Society' and 'New Jack City' there wasn't good movie in that theme for years. There was recently 'Straight outta Compton' biography movie about NWA, but it looks like it didn't get that much attention. Even on street gang level, thanks to immigration, latin gangs like MS-13 and Mexican Mafia are stronger than Crips and Bloods. Who knows, maybe some new subculture will come from them. So is the OG in Hip-Hop clothes who listens 2Pac obsolete like a Biker in leather jacket riding Harley and listening 60's rock? Time will tell. Dottie
There is still a lot of gangsta rap being made still. Not by the same artists as the 90s and 80s, but you can still find it. Its usually underground though, only to be found on a few select FM radio stations, satellite radio, and on the internet. Most rap on the radio (not satellite) is that swag fag mainstream, tallentless crap. Pop music has already dived into that tallentless pool of crap so theres no saving that. TLDR. Stop listening to FM radio stations. They suck Edited August 29, 2015 by Winning001 Niko Montana and icecoldkilla1467

Finn 7 five 11
Anybody who thinks hip hop is dead is just looking in the wrong places, I used to think that as well, but I was wrong. Here is a perfect example of some gangsta ass sh*t that sounds right out of the 90's, hence why his Album is called "1999", Try Joey Badass's other songs like "Hardknock" "95 til infinity". Capital STEEZ killed himself as well, remind you of a bunch of rappers who died in the 90's with loads of talent? Joey Badass kills it, can't deny it, same with the other Pro Era boys.OR you could try Kendrick like suggested, a lot of his stuff is straight new age garbage, but Backstreet freestyle, f*cking top sh*t right there. OR Flatbush Zombies "Face off" OR any of the Wu-Tang members still producing tracks. Mr. Scratch
Finn didn't even reach the tip of the iceberg there. Cosmic Gypsy
Hip Hop and Gangster culture are separate by the way, you may get gangster rappers but still, both cultures are totally separate. Both will continue to exist, no matter how small/large they are in certain areas. As long as there are gang members, gang culture will exist, and as long as there are rappers/beat makers/break dancers/graffiti artists/DJ's, (there are a lot of these even in my corner of the UK) Hip Hop culture will exist. Granted Hip Hop culture may not be as rich as it was in the 80's/90's, but worldwide, it still exists to a decent level. Hip Hop as i love it isn't viable to make in a wide scale business model any more, back in the day Boom Bap/true Hip Hop used to actually make money, record labels would release singles and albums and actually make a decent amount of profit. People would get funding for music videos, tours, the lot. People with a deal would literally have no job and just make their living from making dope Hip Hop music. Now what's viable business wise (and is wrongly considered Hip Hop) is Lady Gaga, Iggy Azalea and other artists who can't even be considered part of the Hip Hop culture, let alone a decent rapper. Gangster rap does still exist, it just sounds like it's made for 10 year old's and fully automated by a computer now. Don't get me wrong though, even some of the old school Hip Hop i love from the 90's was the product of a record label's vision, and aimed at kids at the time. Not the product of the artists vision, taste has just declined when it comes to Hip Hop, drastically. So basically i guess my point is, gangster/Hip Hop culture still exists, just not in the way we remember it being back in the 90's. If you dig deep, you can find proper/true Hip Hop culture is still active across the globe. You just need to search past the vain surface of tripe whereas in the 90's the epitome of Hip Hop was commercially viable, so was everywhere. To be honest, huge names like 2pac, Snoop Dog, etc etc. A lot of people consider them the epitome of Hip Hop and sh*t, but all those names were commercialized for 90's standards and made mostly weak Hip Hop, even by gangster rap standards, their pretty weak. EDIT: Don't even try to remember the amazing people from the 80's/90's to look them up now assuming they've kept to their roots and still make old school Hip Hop, because the chances are, they haven't kept sh*t and now sound like a crunk/trap/new school pop hybrid of horribleness. Either that or they're making cheap, tacky, generic "boom bap" that is a million miles away from the authentic sound the 90's used to produce.
