Why do so many people on this forum hate online gaming?

All I ever hear about Online gaming here is "SP DLC this", "GTA Online sucks, lol "GTA Online is the cancer of the GTA series", "Rockstar now caters to the Call of duty crowd", "If you play online, you're child" and other bullcrap. What's wrong with playing with other people or having an Massive Multiplayer? I just don't see the reason to hate online gaming.

Look at the entirety of the internet first. It's trash.

Your logic is flawed, you don't make sense, you're an idiot.

Where do you get this "most" from?

The GTA IV, GTA Vice City and mainly GTA V section.

You misunderstood.

I'm fairly sure that your "most" estimation is just pulled from thin air.

In reality, it's probably more like "most people I've been arguing with recently".

Are we talking about online gaming or GTA Online?

Cause yeah, GTA Online is crap, mainly because there is 0 content and thus 0 things to do apart from shooting eachother and it isn't a shooter.

You can say both and the rest of what you said isn't true at all.

Actually it is true because R* had added pretty much nothing when it comes to content wise aside from a few jobs a year ago and the Heist 1 1/2 years after it was promised.

The only job content that they do add is content made by other people and then verified.

Sure R* has added some shiny new toys for the 12 year old to drive around in and a few new weapons to shoot but other than that R* has added zippo to the game.

Yeah. Its a community effort more than Rockstar in keeping the content flow and the world somewhat interesting.

LOL! No wonder why Rockstar are hailed as marketing genius. And people still fall for their obvious tricks is hilarious itself. For instance, our very close friend, dear OP!

The focus of online gaming by the majority of developers takes the burdon off of creating the best game they can, and substitutes it with social interaction. It also allows for lazy "development" in the form of "dlc" which otherwise would have been released as one with the game upon release. If further detaches us all that this content should be had at an extra cost, with the promise that it will make the game "better" , something that should have been prevalent upon release.

OP, the was a time when I could sink in 5 or 6 hours in a GTA that was solid gaming. The only loading screens were moving in to interiors (infrequent) and booting the game. It only accounted for about 2% of my gaming time.

Now, I got to wait ages for the game to boot. Then I go to multiplayer. I'm waiting 5 minutes here just to start a race which is sabotage by little farts. So I find a new room. More waiting... endless lobbies....waiting... lobbies...waiting.. It's atrocious. This didn't exist so much in IV and it was non-existent in the III era.

When Online is good, it's great. But, they should hone it in.. strip it down, simplify it or at least make the damn thing a separate game to GTA SP. I don't need others to have fun in a game. I love buzzing off a developers AI and creating my own fun. I don't need little squeakers sh*tting in my ear telling me to look at them or get in their car.

I love MP. I enjoy magic moments with other people but it's that fun is about 20% of the multiplayer experience. The rest is lobbies, waiting, getting booted out... and frustration.

If you can't empathize with that, then the burden lays with you and not us.

I don't hate online gaming. Actually, I love it especially Co-op modes. I had a blast playing RDR MP for years and it was a great and fun experience. On the other hand, there's GTA Online which is basically a loading screen multiplayer game. I never ran into a game where I get frustrated too much waiting for the game to start, only to land in a community-made map that sucks or get a connection error and wait another 3 minutes to find myself in my virtual apartment.

What is this? grind and chore and no fun. The only fun I had was playing co-op heists a few times when I was lucky to find good players to play with. Of course I'm not going to turn this topic into another GTA V complaints, but I wanted to make it clear why this board seems to be in hatred with Online, whereas it's actually in hatred with GTA Online.

1: It depends on the game, but I would never f*cking buy SP DLC for GTAV, unless it was a DLC that let you permenantly murder main characters including the 3 playable ones and replace them all with the muppets, as that would be far less annoying. Aka a "dinklebot recast" as I would call it.

2: GTAOnline does suck, and it is the cancer of the GTA series. The sheer fact it has microtransactions has thwarted any significant fun that could have been had, especially by modding. If we could have modded lobbies with even just the mods we have now, nobody would be playing any other game, they would have guaranteed sales all over again. However I still like to play GTAO because I still enjoy my vehicles and the driving, and that won't ever change. If it wasn't for that it would be pretty sh*tty. Things could be made so much better so easily but they refuse to do it. So yeah it sucks but I would much rather play GTAO than SP any day of the week. If I could re-download a GTAO only version of the game I would, that is how much I hate the singleplayer experience in that game.

3: Playing online is where all the fun is at. Some games are built for it and you miss out by not playing them that way. But it is stressed that you must play with good friends, and be in a party chat away from the random children screaming. And if you avoid screaming children playing the game, you end up hearing them down some deadbeat dad's mic that the prick left running in the background. So avoid all that at all costs, never talk or listen to randoms popular games like that.

I barely play a game these days that isn't in some form of online mode. I play games like DayZ just to encounter those crazy people as it's entertaining. But it isn't when they interfere with your solitary experience in the mainstream games. It baffles me how co-op isn't a requirement for almost all games now, and it comes and goes in waves and right now we are in a real drought for good co-op PvE gameplay. Payday 2 and Far Cry 4 are about all there is that I enjoyed in recent years.

MGSV, Fallout, Hitman and Just Cause are all single player games that come out this year and I really haven't played a solitary experience like those in a LONG time. I fear I may even just be growing out of that. I get sick of collectibles and bullsh*t achievements and annoying restrictions on my fun. I end up just reverting to basic pleasures on the PC or playing old classics.

I feel that games these days always try to force time out of you to make it seem like it has value instead of making just basic fun gameplay that makes you want to play it a lot. I rarely get that these days.

I havent got into a single player game for a fair while now. Been smashing Planetside 2 and CS:GO recently.

CS:GO would probably be more enjoyable if the community (in Europe at least) wasnt so f*cking toxic. Planetside 2 is probably the most enjoyable online experiences ive had in years. If you havent tried it yet, you should. Not to mention its free lol.

Are you talking about online gaming in general or GTAO?

No, not really. Although I'm playing SP games mainly, I sometimes playing MP games with friends on Assetto Corsa for private server testing purposes only.

About GTAO, my concerns are the lack of rewards (besides cash and crates) and horrible server performances, at least on PC version. Thankfully, IMO they don't emphasizes heavily on micro-transactions like many IAP games, for example.

I don't know about the competitive side that much, but deathmatch on the servers I play are fine.(except for the douches that love to play their music through their f*cking mics...)

GTA O sucks balls,

MTA, SAMP and GTA IV MP are waay better

And cause of Rockstar being a bunch of f*cking dicks, they are hampering the development of FiveM.

Except you didn't. IV online was a load of fun without the cancer of ridiculous microtransactions.

Like everyone else has told you, your premise is wrong. With 650k people registered on this board, I doubt you'll find the majority "hates" online.

And those that do, don't hate it on every single game, only when the implementation is terrible. I had a lot of fun playing Quake 3 online back in the day. CoD? Not so much.

People bitch about GTA Online's Cash Cards, but I have never seen the need for them.

If anything, you'd only "need" them to get the Tank or Buzzard, which you will quickly realize are nerfed into being almost useless.

Cash Cards are purely for the lazy, especially with the Cash boost that missions got sometime ago.

I've enjoyed GTA Online for the most part, but I've more or less hit the point where I'm sufficiently bored with the game that enjoyment playing it no longer outweighs the flaws I perceive it to have. The 2x cash or RP events every now and again are nice, I suppose, but do little to entice me back into the game with them consistently being confined to playlists or a couple of game modes I have zero interest in.

Mostly, I'm just thankful it wasn't a similar multiplayer experience to GTA IV. That was an utter snoozefest; if I wanted to spend all my time doing sh*t at an airport, I'd have bought Airport Simulator XXwhatever, lol.

As for Online games in general... it's a case by case basis.

The only good thing in IV multiplayer imo was that free mode was a sandbox with no money limitations or anything like that like in GTA Online. Being able to change the settings for a free mode session was really nice. Outside of that the IV multiplayer was garbage.

I love how fanboys like you think. Just because someone doesn't prefers a game over an older one or a game you like, doesn't mean they've never played it before. I think GTA IV online is bullsh*t. As for GTA IV as a whole I thinks it's the biggest disappointment in the GTA series. But that doesn't mean I hate it. And if you're mad...
