Not A Nice Person
About a month ago my mom bought a new all-in-1 touchscreen computer, it runs perfectly fine, no viruses so far, but I'm noticing the right side, the very right side with the scroll bar, gets really hot, when me and my brother play air hockey it's hard to play since it's so hot and your finger sorta burns. I'm starting to worry if its defective since yesterday we got a warning that the hard disk is failing. We'll take it to geek squad and see what they can do. Do not pay anyone anything to get that "fixed", if its NEW and your experiencing all of that, get it either fully replaced, or tbh a refund. You should look up the model number to see how others are getting on with theirs. If most are happy, then perhaps you were unlucky and a replacement is a good option. If many are complaining about the issues you have been getting, its a dud product and you should cut'n'run! Flachbau

The heat has to be dissipated somehow when you're playing demanding games on it. All-in-one touchscreen computers often only have passive cooling (aka no air movement, fans etc) and therefore the chassis will become hot when you're giving it a workout, very similar to how a smartphone would when playing games. Therefore this wouldn't really be a 'fault', but would be like this by design and is a tradeoff for the smaller form factor. That said though, there is no way to know if this is the reason behind it unless you tell us the brand&model no. of your device. The hard disk failing would be a separate problem in itself, and may be worth getting a replacement if that is a real problem and not a false error. Especially after 1 month. TheMcSame
OverTheBelow has got it pretty much spot on. Though the heat could be a factor in the HDD failing. HDDs don't really like passive cooling and if the PC is kicking off a lot of heat then some of it will definitely be transferred to the HDD as well.. As for Geeksquad... God no. The vast majority of them don't know anything and they'll completely rip you off. Edited August 28, 2015 by TheMcSame
swirler
The likes of laptops and AIO machines can run hot when pushed. Small tight space and components being worked hard, its by no means unheard of. What Im reading here isnt "very warm" or even "unpleasantly hot", but "sorta burns"! Maybe an exaggeration, if so disregard, but IMO on a device designed to be touched, that doesnt seem right to me. Either way, little need for debate on that, the fact is its essentially brand new and unless you have horrendous protection in your part of the world, you shouldnt be expected to put your hand in your pocket on an item thats failing you. If it was me, I would look up the model number, just to see if there is a widely reported problem. But after that, it would go back to the shop and I wouldnt be paying a cent further, no matter the course of action. So, the simple answer to your question - No, its not okay! Ain't this the truth...I bought a computer back in February and was having trouble with the hardware failing whennever i had to restart so i took it to get a new one and the geek squad guy said he wanted me to show him what was going on. He spends a minute or so looking at the tower and he looks at me with a dumbfounded look on his face....Uhh dude? Uhh how do you turn it on?
