ChrisGamer1996
If so why? What are the positives and negatives of the Savage? -Got 1.1M -Got Hydra The savage is definitely worth the 1.9M as it can shoot unlimited rockets the buzzard can only shoot 2 you should definitely buy one I have one myself! Idc about money, and PSN has been down for 30 days in total in the past month and a half, lost half off for Hydra because of it. Oh well.
Davey Boy
Well it's f*cking huge, slow, and can't take a lot of damage. The only good things about it is no cooldown on the missiles and explosive rounds. If you want power, get the Savage I still prefer Buzzard though DentureDynamite
Skeve613
The Savage is really great for missions and is usually more efficient than the Buzzard, as you can stand off and fire off missiles in full auto mode and use the explosive cannon to waste anything that gets close to you. The Savage is very bad at dodging homing launcher missiles in free roam, and relies more on using its heavy firepower to quickly kill people before they can retaliate. The Buzzard is less powerful, but is smaller, much faster, and more agile, making it useful in a wider range of missions. Unlike the Savage, it can actually dodge HL missiles in free roam, but requires you to be quite good at manually aiming the rockets if you want to hit people on the ground. Misanthrope Z
positive: it's fun to use in missions and freeroam rampages against cops. can endlessly toss out homing missiles as well, so those police choppers will be less of a burden. negative: weak/no armor, very loose handling and since it's a helicopter that sadly means it's just an automatic target for anyone with a homing launcher. Phantomspirit
I have both, and agree Buzzard all round is better. However there are very few things to spend your money on in GTAO,apart from silly Supercars,so if you can get both....

shootatme
I don't care what anybody says. The Savage has been my "go to" since the day I bought it. It all comes down to what you like. I do missions often, and imo the Savage is much better for missions. In the Buzzard you take on a lot of the damage. With the Savage it goes to the chopper. It is very easily shot down in freeroam with homing rockets, so you have to keep moving or get them first.
Hunter
Probably not. What do you want it for though? If you want it for free mode, don't get it. It takes a lot of practice before you can even use it to get kills, and even then, it's basically suicidal. You might get a lot of kills before you die, but you'll still die at some point (hiding from the homing launcher all the time isn't always possible, especially against groups of people). And you have pretty much no chance of dodging it. The Hydra though, which you already have, can dodge homing launchers all day: http://gtaforums.com/topic/811388-how-to-dodge-homing-launcher-missiles-in-a-hydra/ If you want it for missions, maybe. If you already have a Buzzard or other helicopter, it's unnecessary though. Even the Hydra can do most of what it can do in missions (though it's a lot clunkier). Also, you can't always use the cannon, as some enemies have extreme accuracy and will shoot you down with a few bullets: If you don't have a helicopter right now, and just want it for missions, then you could have fun with it in them. It's not essential though. Mattoropael, PureBeast72 and DentureDynamite
DentureDynamite
^^ Very revealing! I counted the shots--nine rounds with a simple pistol (and silenced at that)--and it starts smoking and sputtering. lolYeah, it's bad. I realize that R* didn't want it to be overpowered, but it makes you think twice before spending that much money on something that's as overrated and useless as the tank. Meanwhile, the Insurgent withstands nine RPG rounds before it's toast. Go figure. Great balance job, R*. lol Edited August 28, 2015 by DentureDynamite Hunter

If I could, I would lock the thread right away, thanks for saving me $2M, 9 rounds of the worst weapon in the game with a silencer is enough to make the engine stall is pretty horrible, I'm gonna stick with my Hydra. The Lone Wanderer
you have a hydra no you could get a buzzard though, as it has miniguns for precision kills and holds 4 plus you can missile snipe people Edited August 29, 2015 by The Lone Wanderer
Mattoropael
Do you play contact missions often? Buy if you do and forget it if you don't. At its current state, bulldozing contact missions is the only thing that it can do well. Hunter
TheWizardDude
Absolutely worth it. While yes the armor is weak and yes it's a target for any player that plays GTAO (everything 9 times out of 10 is a target anyways) It's a Pegasus vehicle that you can easily order another and go pick it up. It's minigun is an explosive death-laser. The rockets have NO cooldown, and longer targeting range than the Buzzard; Hell's Missiles for everyone. Not to mention it's barely affected by turbulence or rocking back and forth like the Buzzard.

Frankiepies
If so why? What are the positives and negatives of the Savage? -Got 1.1M -Got Hydra Positive - Very powerful. Unlimited missiles, extremely effective explosive cannon. Negative - Slower than every other helicopter. One shot from any launcher and it's down. So..in free roam it is completely useless. One noob locks on to you, and you are dead. Which is why i stopped playing this game. Too many assheads to deal with. In jets and helicopters, i always get hit with HLs no matter how hard i dodge it. Though, when i shoot a HL at an enemy Savage or Hydra that is 20 feet away, it always fails to hit them. SMH

I think that's the main reason you left, you're weak at the game. Back to the topic. I agree, the Savage is an all around slow and weak chopper in free roam (90 rounds of the Special Carbine can destroy it.) But is great for doing Contact missions mainly for the Explosive round cannon gun and the auto rockets, but if you want a chopperto use in free roam, I enjoy the Buzzard, as to what everyone else seems to say about it. Quick, agile, it caneasily doge HL's if you're a decent pilot. The only thing you would need to worry about isgetting good with the rockets, which wouldn't be hard if you're a decent pilot. Savage is an absolute beast.. Only they're not going to be using a pistol are they? The pistol's just to demonstrate how weak the Savage is. A quick auto aimed spray of any assault rifle, and the helicopter's finished. A stray bullet from the minigun will do the job too. I've mastered the Savage as well as I'm ever likely to do, and probably a lot better than most, so I can say for sure that even the best Savage pilots are unlikely to last long against decent ground players. The most I've ever been killed by a Savage is about 3 times, and on one of those I was in a Cargobob. If I see a Savage in the distance, I'll just snipe it before it's even close enough to reach me. A few bullets and it's smoking/will go down any minute. A few well placed bullets and your tail rotor's off. By the time the helicopter's anywhere near me it's already falling apart. If it's not already destroyed, the last few bullets will quickly do the job. I know what you're talking about - I've been on very long killing sprees against not very good players, who constantly rely on the homing launcher. But against a single good player, the Savage is unlikely to do much (and this is assuming you have a very good pilot). Against a group of people with homing launchers, it's also bound to go down at some point. The Savage isn't really worth it and deserves a buff.
