I'm in the mood for some free roam (i.e. not doing anything special just cruise/walk around the city/landscape taking in the view). I was wondering what do you guys prefer doing it in (singleplayer or multiplayer)?

Single player. On MP I feel like I'm being tugged on a leash all the time to go do something. SP's like...my blank canvas, I can do whatever. I like that.

SP, of course.

At least you won't have to worry about Chrome riders molesting you with their artillery 24/7.

I voted for MP, because in my opinion Online Mode adds a lot more layers of Gameplay to it.

Though if you want to "enjoy the view" and landscapre than obviously Singleplayer.

For me it is allways dependant on my mood, sometimes I like Singleplayer sometimes Online.

I pretty much 60/40 my time between SP and MP free roam, but only ever with MP in solo/invite only mode, so I can experience the MP world without others there to f*ck up my sh*t.

Single Player 100% of the time, in Online, I'm f*cking paranoid some asshole would just shoot me down for no good reason (in which case I always retaliate with a Rocket to their face or overly expensive chrome super car). That's why I stay in my apartment and launch missions with my phone. You know there's something inherently wrong with a GTA game if the act of free roaming becomes a struggle to survive rather than fun chaos i have total control over. I could just launch a private match but that would be pointless since 1. None of my friends play GTA on the same platform as I do and 2. If I'm going to be alone anyway, why not just go to single player where I have total freedom, cheats and... you know.... a f*cking pause button!? (That's a button that allows the game to freeze everything going on so that you could take a piss break without being paranoid that someone would blow your brains out. Thought I'd explain that to the "ONLINE IZ DA FYOOCHURE" crowd.) And it definitely helps since I tend to multitask so I'd pause the game for more than 20 minutes and being in SP allows me the luxury of not being kicked out for pausing for too long.

*Bold bit* I'm not defending the people who do this, but you could enable "Passive Mode" and then proceed to do your thing.

Also I know it sounds stupid but whenever I have to go somewhere for like 20 minutes I just push the sticks at an angle so the character is always moving and then place the controller under a cousin or something and walk away.

Freeroam Online ain't that bad once you know how to combat the other players either by joining them or through just avoiding them.

Multiplayer in invite only lobby to role play. Better activities, all my cars are only a phone call away, more cars, my character looks just like me and because no mountain lions to randomly kill my ass. f*ck single player free roam. It is dryer than a worm on a sidewalk. You can't store many cars, buy snacks, gang attacks, survivals, properties, drink, smoke from your inventory screen, etc.

SP because it's more immersive

I only play MP when I want deathmatch craziness with 12 year olds yelling at me... which can be fun sometimes... but it's not the same as an immersive open world :p

I think anyone who prefers MP freeroam over SP has mental issues or is a 12 year old who cheated for money to get a tank. Or just a 12 year old who likes their "Custom cars" way too much.

SP obviously.

You get to do fun sh*t like this without any risk of getting banned or having some mongoloid ruining your fun by griefing or blowing you up every 3 seconds.

@RayB_ThrowaStack: Oh you couldn't be more wrong lmao. I suggest looking up this page if you can't find sh*t to do in SP https://www.gta5-mods.com/

Or someone who transferred ovee from old gen, and can't be assed unlocking everything in sp again. And of coarse I'm going to like my "custom cars". You don't have to be 12 for that.

SP freeroam. Because it feels more alive, a lot of things happen and I don't have to worry about cheaters or annoying people. I almost left out, more polish. The bugs/glitches and the errors in GTA Online are so annoying.

Single Player, since you could possibly use the save editor. Also, you don't have to deal with assholes ruining things for you. Enjoy.

SP all the way. No annoying 15 year olds on mics, no assholes gunning you down every few 5 minutes, no jackasses pushing you off the road, and the best part is, more spawning. There is much better traffic and pedestrian variety in SP. I havent played MP in ages. f*ck that sh*t.

SP freeroam is my pick. SP is overall more alive and with more peds and traffic. Also there are animals, and codes/mods can be used. Certainly having some of the features of MP would make SP freeroam and mission play better. Vehicle delivery, stored snacks, armor, and outfits in SP would be great.

Oh Singleplayer all the way here! I mean you have the complete freedom of the open road in SP whereas in Online it's completely infested with trolls, griefers, and Rockstar fanboys completely determined to make your Online experience a living nightmare!!

SP for the immersion, but MP has all the features that make it easier to free roam in.

How am I wrong to prefer MP free roam and the MP activities? I prefer to use my custom cars and have them delivered to me, also having insurance on them so I don't permanently lose them and the ability to have more custom cars stored. Im a gearhead and I love cars so if that makes me wrong in your eyes so be it. Im 26 by the way. I prefer the MP properties and MP garage. I also like to just hang out in my garage and watch tv and drink. Also role playing, since my online character looks just like me and there are more and better selection of clothing items. I don't hate single player but to me these things make it better for me. Invite only lobby. Maybe if single player had all these things I would prefer SP freeroam.

Forgot to mention the ability to call Lester to get rid of annoying cops, and cops turn a blind eye. Makes stealing jets so much easier than in single player. Although I do wish there was more traffic and peds

Single player is more vibrant and it does not feel as empty as online. Im just waiting for that day when Rockstar decides to create a real online cop's and robbers simulator. I'm curious to what Rockstar means when they say new game play added to online. We will see in September.

If it's something bigger than the like we saw in the Heists Update I will be surprised.

both. I've become quite adept to free aim. all there is to it is keeping the gun aimed at head level, having the correct settings adjusted and strafing until you get that lucky head shot. theres no real skill involved its easy. only thing I dislike is that its hard to find a fully populated free aim lobby and i'm constantly spawned into solo lobbies, only because of my wi-fi connection. I need a lan connection.

makes no difference to me I don't free roam much. obviously though storymode is better because there is more detail the resolution is sharper and the world feels more alive. theres a cow pasture close to madrazzo's ranch . stand in that area during the early noon hours the ambiance is relaxing and peaceful. I visited hookies during multiplayer for the first time in two years I didn't know the lost mc still spawn there and there are more female members.

Am I the only one who actually has most hours on Story Mode?

Yes, I did once play GTAO for 8 hours straight, (with friends during the casino update, I'm not that crazy, lol), but with single player, I probably have over 60 hours combined.

Oh, and I prefer SP.

i don’t think so, while i think multiplayer is more fun, singleplayer is still fun with quality. i choose quality over fun here
