New to playing GTA IV on the PC what are some essential mods to get an

For whatever reason my PC wouldn't run GTA IV because of some compatibility issues for months, so I was not able to play it even though my PC can max out GTA IV graphically and play at 60FPS, either way I have managed to fix the issue and be able to play GTA IV on my PC.

I put it on max graphics except for AA which I put to x4 and with v-sync on it would start to stutter, with V-sync off the frame rate can range from 30 to 200+ depending on condition.

I'm looking to try and find some tricks and things to know to try and get the game to stay at a consistent 60 FPS.

Also I am looking for some top graphics mods ( ENB series ) and some mods to make the city feel more alive and populated ( more traffic and pedestrians ) and some mods to add in a good first person mode and some mods to make the gameplay a bit more realistic ( maybe smarter AI, Niko has less health, guns have more recoil and stuff like that ) what would be recommended?

If you like GTA V maybe you should try

V Style

Minigun mod

P-996 Lazer jet mod

 

Or you can try ragdoll mod

Ragdoll mod always make GTA IV fun especially if you have a mountain map mod

 

And i also suggest "Player selector mod" and

Lastly get the "Simple Trainer Mod"

But before download asiloader and scripthook.

Its mostly realism mods and stuff to add features to vehicles, a speedo, turn signals, gas tank and fuel stops, add traffic laws, and reduce taxi bug.

The native trainer is good for timesync and weather cycle (many other things too but that how I use it mostly)

You can do this yourself to an extent. popcycle.dat controls vehicle and ped frequency, its found at: ....gta4/common/data/

I can help you with numbers for that if you want.

Depends what you want for that, I find more powerful weapons are a better feel for realism, look for realistic weapon damage mods. You can also make tweaks yourself too, its all in weaponinfo.xml (same location).

 

 

ENB is great but its not always good for performance, I have got great results for graphical improvements (making it look more real) by just working on the timecyc.dat that controls the weather systems and draw distances. Theres a few good ones around for downloading.

 

 

I'll give you some help with any of these things if you want to try them.

If you do change anything, MAKE BACKUPS!
