Hi , I saw a car mod that was just converted from GTA iV for GTA V in the case is a mod of a Brazilian car (link :https://www.gta5-mods.com/vehicles/gta-5-volkswagen-gol-gl-1-8-mod).

Can someone explain to me how convert custom car models (lamborghini ferrari ... etc) GTA IV for GTA V? In this case would turn wtf / wtd to ytd / YFT.
If you have a post with the same purpose, let the link :)

I'm on the way of learning this, myself. If you want, i can write down, what i'm doing.

I will do it with SparkIV, Blender because it's free and Zmodeler3 because its pretty much the only tool that converts this. Buy this sh*t or send me something, if you're done until that step, so i convert it.

Read this topic.

http://gtaforums.com/topic/815081-how-to-import-gtaiv-cars-in-blender/

Extracting the cars from GTA 4:

Open SparkIV. Open your vehicles.img, it must be somewhere in gtaIV/pc/models/cdimages. Doubleclick file to open.

This will appear.

Open up the filetree to the left. Find and SELECT what you want to see. I marked the highest LevelOfDetail. The lower ones are supposed to be displayed in the far, so the game won't turn into lagfest. You may want to extract them too.

The model marked is fused together: no openable doors, no things falling off. Also sh*t to edit in your 3d editor, but for now good to look upon.

So you can open up separate part of the mesh and extract them one by one in a folder of your choice. To extract, FLAG the thing you want to extract and press Export button above. Hint: open the same model in OpenIV and look how the parts are named, name the extracted files accordingly.

This will produce a a load of parts you can probably start something with in your 3D editor, because you will be able to import them.

To ones who will say Zmodeler2 is much more easier: i haven't bought it nor obtained by any other ways, also, it won't work on my system and yes, i have tried to make it work. and no, i will not install new Windows on my PC to make it run or spend the evening in vain.

Replacing the car parts.

Get OpenIV. Find a car you want to replace - this one should be similar to one you want to import: this should make things more easier, for now. A two-door for two-door, sedan for sedan, truck for truck, etc.

OpenIV controls: LMB for grab and spin, wheel is zoom, wheel+Ctrl: finer zoom, pan camera with clicking on "Camera Mode" and drag with pressing the wheel.

Import all the separate vehicle parts of your to-imported car in your 3d editor of choice and move them to the side on a fixed distance, (like 2,5 Units)

If you import a car, it must be cut up in several part groups, like glass, bodywork, wheels, tires, moving bodywork parts, like doors, trunk, boot, roof, suspension, etc. Open up a car you want to replace, in OpenIV and check out in which part groups the car should be cut up.

Open up your ZModeler and export the car you want to replace. Import it in your 3d editor. Leave ZModeler3 open.

You must have then two cars standing near each other in one scene. Now look at the car you imported from GTA V and change and rename the parts of the car you imported with SparkIV.

Use a function of your 3d editor to display the names of separate parts for maximal ergonomy.

Remove then the parts from GTA V model you don't need and place the parts of the car you imported from SparkIV in same coordinates as the GTA V model. (in this case, for that fixed distance, e.g. 2,5 Units)

When it's done, it should look as close as a GTA 5 original. You will probably fix a lot of geometry.

Any way of doing it without ZModeler? It's expensive software for someone living in a third world country.

I have already done that once for modding ETS2, I guess I'll create a new account and then pay a monthly subscription.

You could just wait for Openformats from OpenIV (it could be next year because they haven't done anything progressive a few months ago apart from openCamera *sigh*)

I just hope someone write a script plugin for Blender when openformats comes out ....

Even a script for 3DS Max is enough. By the way, you can get 3DS for free if you are a student. Just register an account and tell where you study and you get an installer and a code.
