Grand Theft Auto III EAX Demonstration

Recommended Posts

SpooferJahk

I created this thread to share this video I made about the PC port of Grand Theft Auto III and a feature of it that is missed by most people that play the game today, and that is the enhanced sound options it has. Ever wondered why the sound in the PC version is flat or kind of... dull? This video will explain that and show what it should sound like.

I wonder if switchning to EAX would eliminate bug with VC when Tommy and other peds doesn't talk that much than on PS2

Btw. very nice video, showing everything and explaining everything.

Going to have to investigate this since I haven't really thought about that. The peds did talk when I played the PC version, but it has been a while since I played the PS2 one proper.

And one more question: is this only needed http://community.pcgamingwiki.com/files/file/28-creative-alchemy-universal/? Because I'm using usb headphones anyway. So it should be enough right?

It works with that, and also to answer your question above... yeah that is a bug in the PC version, just loaded up the PS2 version and the peds are a lot more talkative. Still nowhere NEAR as noisy as they are in III but you hear more dialogue. Possible idea for a coder to fix in the Leftovers Fix?

Noone found the bug in code or anywhere else, it's just hiding somewhere in vice city exe.

Either way, if someone is smart enough, maybe there is a value or something in the EXE to fix or a way to create an asi file to reenable the silent dialogue.

Bumping this thread, but I will be remaking that video soon now that I got a proper EAX card to play GTA III with so the EAX mode will be more accurate.

I'm 90% certain that's already been done. Can't remember who created the .asi, but it's out there on the Forums/Garage. I remember putting it on my VC Copy a few months back, and lo and behold, Tommy was speaking a lot again.

Anywho, I can't believe that the game sounds amazing with EAX. Would like to give this a whirl sometime.

Ye it was done by Sergeanur, but if you notice the dates, the posts were made before that mod release

Just to confirm Gta 3 and Vice City sound so much more realistic with this Eax Feature enabled in the audio settings. I personally use Creative Labs EAX [TM]. I think this setting sounds the best although users preference of course.

Also i'm pretty sure you need to have a Creative Sound Card for this to work.

Is it possible to do such with San Andreas? From my experience of using X-Fi Titanium with Alchemy EAX doesn't work in hardware mode. And Alchemy just doesn't create any log of using EAX.
