Recommended Posts

eyFXbyb.png

For the past weeks we have been working on a web based content platform for GTA5 mods. The goal, to create an easy way to find, download and play community content.

Here it is, the first public beta release of

GTAV withSIX
To give a taste of how the system works, we have already prepared a couple of mods for download.

https://youtu.be/FM-cFXPPLwc

The key features in a nutshell:

  • Download and Launch mods directly from the website
  • A small but powerful download client that keeps all data in Sync
  • Fully automatic installation of RPF based mods!!!
  • Combine mods into Playlists and launch them together
  • Save and access playlists via a web based library
  • Dependency Support (Automatic download of required mods)

Requirements:

In order to use GTAV withSIX, ScripthookV and OpenIV are required. As these plugins are currently available exclusively on the authors homepage, you need to manually download and install them.

Download links:
Script Hook V
OpenIV

Your mod on withSIX?

We will provide an automated mod processing system within the next days. This will include full support for RPF based mods too, of course. :colgate:

You can Upload your mods your self directly on our strea or filter page under "ADD MOD"

If you like to report someone elses mod, for us to process, click here:*

Want to give us feedback or report issues?

This project is currently in an early stage of development, all aspects are subject to change and improvement.

Any issues you encounter with our client or the website, please report them here:
For Feedback and suggestions, please use this board:

Are you a skilled C#, C++ or JavaScript developer or Html designer and you want to help with the project? Any support is most welcome, contact us. J

What's next?

Here is a little preview on features and improvements, currently in development:

  • Version control and branch support (alpha, beta...)
  • Share your playlists and collections
  • Conflict resolver (Checks and resolves conflicts between mods)
  • Community project support (work with your friends on the same project)
  • Full Knowledge base on GTA files and content functions
  • DLC based mod support (create your mod as a DLC)

WithSIX technology is open for everyone

If you have your own launcher or you are interested to customize ours, feel free to use our API or check our code, as this project is open source. Code and documentation will be available upon final release.

We hope you enjoy this preview

stay tuned for more ;)

*In order to upload mods that are not your own, we will check license restrictions for every case and ensure that proper credits and links to the original source are in place.

Anyway, nice idea, keep working on that.

When I finished my work on OpenRW, I might help you guys :-)

Hey thanks, and nice project yourself :) Following!

Re Premium: We offer a premium service that removes all advertisement from the page for a clean experience, provides a secure https connection and additional bandwith (speed) for downloads.

Our project started with the ArmA series: http://play.withsix.com/Arma-3 , for wich we host more than 2000 mods currently. Since they average on about 500mb/mod and we also support collection sharing with some exeeding 50GB, we have to limit bandwith for free users in order to pay for servers.

playWithSIX is awesome on Arma 2/3, so I can only imagine it would be quite useful for GTA V!

@Ethenal

glad you like our work for A3, the new Web app will be available for the ArmA series soon too ;)

Daily Update:

Self Management:
Author Mod upload is nearing completion, we should be able to provide a preliminary version later today. Authors will be able to use the web interface for adding and updating their mods. More details soon.

Claiming mods:

For those who already have mods on our network, we will provide a claiming feature. Claiming means getting full access to the content page and the ability to manage the mod it self. Using a secure method to ensure that the actual authors are claiming their mods. This will be available within the next days too.

If you want to take control over your mod sooner, please contact me via PM and I will grant you access.

More mods and updates:

For now I added some mods upon request and updated others to the latest version. If you have more mods you like us to provide, please put in your request here:

Mod Suggestions

All the latest mods and updates you can see on the stream page:

http://play.withsix.com/GTA-5

That is all for now, have a fun Sunday.

Isn't it illegal to just copy other people mods and upload them to your own site? Did you ask the mod authors before? :)

This is from the mod "Satellite View Map"'s installation.txt:

"you may not upload this or change my work without my permission."

It's uploaded to your site :-)

We are of course contacting authors prior to uploading, or try. For those mods that have no license, rehosting is generally not an issue, especially if the content is already rehosted. We do want authors to claim their mods though and also to upload the content them selves.

For all mods we host, we properly credit authors, link to original sources and provide reporting functions, as well as claiming possibilities.

Though you do have a good point, hence the self management portal for authors. :)

And another quick

Daily Update:

As promised, authors are now able to upload their mods directly to our network. As we are still tuning the system, preparing the uploads for distribution might take some time in some cases.

So, want to get your RPF mod ready for easy installation?

Here is what you have to do:

Make sure that your files are placed in the folder structure you want them to be within the RPF archive.

For example:

update\x64\dlcpacks\mpchristmas2\dlc.rpf\x64\levels\gta5\vehicles\xmas2vehicles.rpf\FILENAME

Here is an example mod set up for you: https://www.dropbox.com/s/mtoss4okk6ia0p2/%40nvidia.7z?dl=0

We will then automatically generate the config file and install the mod for the user.

For script based mods, simply place the mod into the root folder of your archive ;)

Thanks for your time,

Hey vectress,

glad you enjoyed our A2 mods, here is how you can get the GTA5 mods

1. Click on this link to get the new client: http://withsix.com/download?basket=1

2. Download and launch the client, it should automatically detect your GTAV installation

3. Go to http://play.withsix.com/GTA-5 and click to install any mod you like or use the new playlist function.

As an old withSIX user I must inform you, download of new mods etc is now directly over the website. You can also create, save and launch playlists there.

Warning:

As we are not allowed to provide OpenIV and ScripthookV currently, you have to download and install them your self manually:

Script Hook V
OpenIV

PS: Working on a YouTube video, describing the use of the new GTAV withSIX system, if anyone is proficient with creating such videos or knows someone who wants to help, please contact me :)

Update:

1. Improved Client updates on web interface

You are now able to see more info about downloads and updates of mods on the website and you can also cancel the download directly on the bottom interface.

2. New Community Forum and Trello boards

With the new Project comes a new forum, so here it is : The withSIX Community forum

So here are the updated links for:

  1. Issue reporting, regarding Client or website
  2. Suggestions and Feedback
  3. Report new mods (that are not your own)*

On behalf of the team I want to thank everyone who is supporting us with this project :)

Stay tuned for more updates and news.

*In order to upload mods that are not your own, we will check license restrictions for every case and ensure that proper credits and links to the original source are in place.

Behold my first attempt of a tutorial video:

@tuchits

not sure what you are referring to, with SIX is not a mod by it self, but a platform to distribute user generated content. I hope the video helps :)

What browser are you using ?

Firefox is known to have issues with the security certificate, thus I can recommend Chrome. Also make sure you don't have NoScript or similar plugins running.

Also depending on the mod, the first launch can take a couple of minutes. The reason, VFS has to first download and generate the keys. There will be an animation for this in the near future.

Finally if the website says it the client is busy, even though the client shows no item in progress, you should refresh the page.

I hope this helps. An account is actually not needed for the download.

Cheers

by gollie were getting closer. I installed chrome and that let me install it just like your video showed. I was using IE11 all set to default.

ok . the client shows its installed. I downloaded version 0.0.1.06b of the mod. put it the addins folder. them it got moved tp the sync back up folder.

-- CONFIGURE THE KEYS BELOW. Further down you find a list of the codes

local savekey = 33

local reloadkey = 110

local disablemodkey = 109

local modenabled = true -- SET TO false if you don't want the persistence to be enabled by default - does not affect saved

--vehicles, this only applies to the 'persistent' ones you drove, which can cause problems in missions

-- CONFIGURE THE PATH WHERE THE FILE WILL BE SAVED. NOTE: Make sure Windows allows writing there.

-- 99.9% of the problems will be due bad data on the line below OR Windows permissions nonsense.

-- IMPORTANT!: Double-check the slashes (/) (they're NOT backslashes (\) ) and the LAST SLASH too!

-- IMPORTANT!: The path must be between quotation marks ("). Use the default value for reference.

local savepath = "C:/Users/gamer/Documents/Rockstar Games/carmod/"

-- CHOOSE A COOL TEXT TO APPEAR IN THE LICENSE PLATES OF YOUR SAVED VEHICLES! (Max. 8 dig.)

-- IMPORTANT!: The text must be between quotation marks ("). Use the default value for reference.

local platetext = "MYPLATE"

local useplates = true --change to false if you don't want the plates to change.

I can launch the game through the client. the client shows the mode is installed. when the game is loading the client says its sync up..

were I got lost...... is after the client installs the mod. do I still get the ula file manually? and copy it to the scripts\ addins folder

the modify it?

thanks I hope you don't run out of Patience with me . I am usually pretty good at this stuff

Greetings,

no worries, I am glad to help and it also shows us where we can improve and what we have to explain better :)

Let me see if I understood you correctly. You wanted to play Szabo's Persistance Mod 0.0.1.6 beta?

What I do not understand is why you would move files manually? If you have OpenIV and ScripthookV installed, you should be able to just launch the mod via the website or the client by clicking on launch.

I think what I might have forgotten to explain is that our system also takes care of all the necessary dependencies. (We have a full fledged dependency system. Required mods are installed automatically, authors just have to link them, This is why we could also provide OpenIV plugin and Scripthook automatically as a dependency if the authors would upload them.)

You have do do nothing but click on play. :D

I hope this helps.

Best regards

yes exactly. in Szabo's Persistance Mod you need to edit a lua file to bind keys to save the cars. but there no lua file to edit that I can find.
there is a json file it synq/packages
MPORTANT NOTE:

Since many people are having problems with the configuration, here is a clarification:

YOU NEED TO CONFIGURE THE MOD! Open the szabopersist.lua file with a plain text editor (e.g.: Notepad) and change the lines of the configurations.

The 'savepath' must contain slashes (these: / ) and NOT backslashes (NOT these: \ ).

Both the 'savepath' AND the 'platetext' values must be between quotation marks, like as follows:

local savepath = "C:/Users/John Doe/Documents/Rockstar Games/"

local platetext = "JOHNNY"

AND NOT LIKE THIS:

local savepath = C:/Users/John Doe/Documents/Rockstar Games/

I tried to install his lua file manually it got moved to the syc backup file
in the client I have lula plug in for script v and Szabo's Persistance checked hit play selected . nothing different
many thanks again for your time
