SAxVCxLC - VC and LC in San Andreas

It's a shame this mod is not stable

if we could somehow solve these 2 problems
this mod would be the best mod of gta san andreas of all time

While I do not think any of them idea's are bad idea's, I, personally am a bit more retro in the fact, I would rather textures were left alone, infact everything left alone and only add all cars, to the maps, all peds and all guns and onviously like mod shops, pay 'n sprays, food shops, bars etc etc etc but for me right now, if only the core game ran like it should, that would be massive for me, would also be pretty neat, if someone could set-up the saint marks bistro mission, to actually fly to LC and land and a scripted taxi to go to the bistro and maybe the cut chase around Portland, that is a utopian dream tho lol.

 

I would love somekind of seperate .exe menu in the mods directory as well to enable which radio staions can be heard where, which cars and peds are available where, that would be awsome :D

3) VC/LC car groups. :)

 

I can agree to some degree that this would be decent but I'd put it as an addon, not part of the actual mod. For content I'd go for GTA Underground, for just the maps so I can do whatever I want with them I'd take this. That's what I love about this mod, it doesn't force you content from other GTA's and you can do it on your own :D

After copying the files to game folder the game doesn't open anymore, it just shows a dialog written "gta_sa.exe stopped working" and following another one written "The application couldn't be initialized correctly (0x0000005). Click on OK to close it.".

I'm using the version 0.7.

Greetings

Firstly, if your having crash problems make sure you don't have windows applications such as 'customer experience program' running. I've found these to be major resource hogs when they kick in. Open scheduled tasks and disable everything you find concerning 'customer experience'. Also if your running windows 8.1 and up these have 'windows defender' another resource hog I've seen 80% cpu consumption. You can search for a program called "nodefender' which will disable this unnecessary ap and it will also re-enable it if you really want it back. I dual boot windows 8 and Linux so I have windows 8 completely stripped to bare bones so to run GTA games smoothly and use Linux for everything else. Then there is a .DLL in system32 called gameux.dll which is also part of the customer experience program. I've seen it consume 40% cpu when it runs. I don't pc game online so I don't know what the ramifications would be to disable it but if you don't online game you can safely disable gameux.dll by renaming it. windows will probably complain that it is being used and you probably won't find it in Task Manager. This is where the advantage of dual booting where one can boot into Linux and access windows from there and rename it but if not you'll have to figure it out and just keep trying. Alternatively you can download a Linux distro and run Linux off a DVD "try Ubuntu without installing" feature which also comes in handy. Turn off or reschedule windows automatic updates.

 

Second, I found that for some reason SA don't readily accept 'added' cars at least for me I ended up removing from cargrp.dat the following: vcbus, zebracab, kaufmancab, vicevoodoo, sentinalXS and VCBurrito. I know for certain that the vcbus and VCBurrito caused definite random crashes at least for me and the mysterious random crashes disappeared when these were removed from cargrp.dat. It is perfectly fine to leave them in the .img and also vehicles.ide

I don't have an affirmative report for the other cars but seems more stable with these removed also.

 

To troubleshoot crashes having experienced my fair share of them since I started modding this game, a few tips to aid in finding problems:

1- keep track of all changes document everything

2- helpful to know where and what areas certain ped or car models spawn. Study pedgrp and cargrp.dat After a while modding you just know and learn where models spawn. For example, how I found the VCBurrito problem was that I was testing my girlfriend scripts to see how the girls would handle gang wars and so these only spawn in certain gang areas; the game crashed randomly when these tryed to spawn and the game also crashed sometimes when near the one that is created by car generator in VCcars.cs The VCBurrito is the black van and if I remember correctly is created near the studios in Vice City. I also experienced screen tear/black texture on screen when flying over a certain area near where these would spawn. I ruled out any possibilty of a bad ped models because peds that spawn in these areas are also found elsewhere throughout the map and no problems. These are the basics of troubleshooting and just plain common sense. I don't use the crash logs to find defective models.

3- while Fastman92 made commendable efforts to provide an error reporting system, I found one or two of these when enabled created problems. If you have problems at or during startup try disabling/commenting out the error reporting features such as #Requested file does not exist = 1 and see if the problem goes away. I personally don't have any these features enabled normally but may toggle them when I think I need them during testing. The infamous Fastman92 crash log error "AUDIO\STREAMS\" error is nearly always related to a defective car or ped model or having ped/car TXD or .dff sizes over say 2000kb maybe 2500kb max but not too many will surely crash the game after some time. Unless one has modded any the games audio; theres nothing wrong with the audio.

Next up today is your "water" problem fix; the one where ya'll can't complete the NRG challenge. Thanks to SteveM for his water.dat explanation and several days working with water.dat I am happy to make the following report.

 

Navigate to and open water.dat preferably in notepad++ or perhaps Sanny Builder would work to. Make sure 'word wrap' is turned off. Look at it you should see 4 columns and sometimes three. The way these work is four X Y coords creates a either a square or rectangle or three creates a triangle body of water. The Z coord is always 0.0 for 'ocean' height but Z coord can vary in pools obviously. Search for SteveMs' tutorials on water.dat for info on the perimeters how to set wave height etc. in which he already covers. Now, my water.dat will be different than yours or even the one that came with this conversion because in order for me to troubleshoot the problem; I first had to find and delete all SA original water line by line; test ingame to find what was left etc. In other words, in order to find the turd one must first necessarily drain the pool. Think Caddyshack movie LOL yes I know it was a chocolate bar

 

As always, back up your files in case something goes wrong. So lets dive right into the water and be sure to follow these steps precisely:

When extra water triangles/boxes are placed beneath the original SA water creates what I call a "high tide effect" where this will effectively raise the entire 12000/-12000 plane. In other words, this also caused: water on roadways specifically near blueridge; water problem near Helens place the "brown water" area as noted early in this forum just to name a few. Deleting the aforementioned lines will not only remove the water from the SF basin where the NRG challenge is but will also fix these other problems.

 

It is also safe to delete this line as it does nothing. easy way to find is search the Z coord 126.0:

Next, according to SteveM research no X Y coords can end in an odd numbers else a game crash occurs and I have verified this to be accurate. Search for 1.52588e-005 and replace with 1.5258 you are basically removing the 8e-005 to make these end in even numbers.

 

Next, lets fix the 'rip' in the ocean near Vice City which was also noted early in this forum. Now, this is where full attention and well rested eyes comes to play because it is easy to mess up here if these don't match exactly. Search for the following line and make sure it matches; it will more than likely be located within the last 40 - 60 lines:

There are seven pools in Shoreside Vale however, I only managed to fill six. The very first one is set on a 45 degree angle relative to the maps 12000/-12000 water plane so adding water here was a challenge and in the end I abandoned the idea of filling this one. Adding water to this one by 'normal' means created bugs while creating two triangles to fill it resulted in game crash when CJ was flying near it right after the 'water' spawned; despite all my angles being even numbered. I mention this in case someone wants to add their own water there - you will have a challenge.

You can fill the other six pools by adding the following to water.dat; and so you know, on mine I just added the following lines right after the last line at the end of the file:

Since I was having so much fun splashing about water I also filled the pond in Bedford Park which is where the basketball courts are. Completely optional but if you would like water there add this too:

As already mentioned make sure you maintain the four columns and should be noted further that I don't know if there is any difference on how many spaces between each set of coords or columns but I gave three spaces which is the way Rockstar did in their original water.dat. Also worthy to mention is the last perimeter at the very end of the line which is either 1 or 3. I played around with these I didn't notice any difference in water 'color' or opacity. If set to 3 supposed to refer to shallow water while set to 1 signifies deep water. However, perimeters set to either or changed with times of day or night.

All thats left to do is grab some girlfriends and go for a dip

I'm using the version 0.7.

Nathan there is a later version 0.8.5 available at GitHub see original post on first page for the download links make sure follow their instructions precisely as this has to be installed on fresh game with no mods. Also, and I forgot to mention earlier, that it is much better not to put GTA in "program files" like where GTA installs originally because through my own testing found later versions of windows beyond XP tend to create problems with games because of the customer experience program which creates images of certain game files in the hidden windows files appdata buried deep in C drive. Also, I have DEP completely disabled on mine but you could also add gtasa.exe to the DEP list as 'trusted'

 

The error which you refer to is a common error see documentation on the GitHub site or I think it may also be on the first page of this forum.

@chaosbginwenrealityend the are much more problems with water.dat. There are many places in VC/LC (not sure about SA) where the water spawns beneath the map.

Eagle152 I am full aware of what you stated. My initial approach in helping resolve the water issues was to start over from scratch, starting with the original water lines ending in 3000 from the game then branching from there. I managed to get about three quarters through before head scratching problems surfaced. I read elsewhere again I think from SteveM (and I'm talking a long time ago) about the water squares being/are/should be 750 by 750 while this water.dat has both 750 by 750 and 500 by 500. My intent was to stay consistent with 750 by 750 which these entries alone, after canvassing the entire 3000 plus entries line by line, copied into a new water file, only covered about half the map (tested ingame) and the 500 by 500 actually overlays the 750 by 750 and covers the rest of the map; and yes I did find other 'rectangular' that don't need to be in there but despite these extra water 'quads' they don't seem to effect performance. The ones I found to raise the entire 12000/-12000 0.0 plane by .5 to 1 meter were the ones I found in Easter Bay basin where the NRG500 challenge is after I removed all of the original SA water.

I negated my own advice of documenting all changes and forgot to record the last several lines added which caused the above. So ya, I elected to work with what is and what already works fix only what is absolutely needed. My thinking to fix perfectly is, at least from my perspective, is to hand write an entire water map grid like on poster board starting at 0.0 or perhaps from the games water boarder which ends at 3000/-3000; something which I already done near Vice City to fix the water tear/rip. By my calculations would be 64 squares within a square using the 750 by 750 formula and water.dat would be much smaller. There is no program that does this that I'm aware of; I looked.

I ran install.bat, It closed itself after downloading the last radio station. It didn't copy cleo, project2dfx or anything.

I then ran "buildIMGarchives.bat" and put the files from "SAxVCxLC_source" into the corresponding folders in the games root folder and manually put cleo, 2dfx and such into the game folder.

Now the game freezes after i click on "New Game".

 

I can't figure this cryptic sh** out.

it could do with a normal installer tbh, the only reason I can think it is the way it is, is for people to edit and change and update the archive on the fly, thats what intended for this mod, as long as SA ain't touched and no major differences are made to lc/vc I think btw your profile pic is so cute lol :p

 

Also if I remember what I done to get it going, I'll tell you it was a chore to crack though.

@hlennarz. The installation instruction says the following:

"2. Click on Install.bat and follow the instructions there. Eventually additional files (radio music) will be downloaded."

 

This instruction does not say to use buildIMGarchives.bat or to copy files manually.

 

I have tested the script and I did not have any problems. However, in the case that the installer (= Install.bat) crashes for some unknown reason I also wrote this text:

"If the installation script closes without asking to press a button (enter), then something went wrong. In this case run the script from cmd.exe so that the commandline window does not close and you can see what were the last words the script said."

 

If the installer was an exe file, you could do absolutely nothing. Since the .bat file is a text file, you sill have a chance to read and debug the bat file or follow it step by step manually. However, the install script has been tested a lot and I'm not aware of any problems. (I used windows 7). Maybe you have some character in your path that the script cannot handle. You could try to use simple paths without blank spaces or other funny characters, but I have even tested "strange" paths and it all worked. That's all I can tell.

Staunton lift bridge scripts and bell for anyone interested. In the beginning stage I created a Cleo but once refined I altered slightly and put in my main.scm both versions are provided in the .zip file. The readme's are self explanatory. I realize the intent of this conversion is to keep main untouched but I also know some will want it in main. So I provided both in efforts to satisfy both causes.

I'm trying to build objects in a new IPL file., And the map editor crashes ... .

@Inan-Ahammad: You can send me the LC garages. However the best way would be if you create a git branch, commit the LC garages, and then create a pull request. That's how HeicoDev did it (See here: https://github.com/goodidea82/SAxVCxLC/pull/14;He closed the pull-request himself for quality reasons I think.) I check every few weeks or months if there are pull requests. When I see a pull request, and see that the principles have been respected, then I can merege the pull request into the master branch.

 

@chaosbginwenrealityend Unfortunately I don't have the time to test the script. I saw that you use global variables and you are aware of it, but still I don't have the time to check it and I'm a bit afraid to break something. The easiest way would be if you publish your mod on some modding website and send me the link, and I will add it in the readme where mods for SAxVCxLC are listed. (Make sure to mention SAxVCxLC and the version). Also, if you want to contribute to SAxVCxLC the best way would be with pull-requests on GitHub.

 

@hlennarz Have you tried what I wrote? " You could try to use simple paths without blank spaces..." If that didn't help, then do the following:

1. Post here the content of the file "InstallSettings.bat". It is located where you execute Install.bat and contains your installation settings.

2. Post here the path where you have unzipped SAxVCxLC. The path where Install.bat is located.

3. Post here a link to the screenshot of your cmd.exe window (Where it says "Rockstar can not be syntactically processed at this point."). Make the window as big as possible, so we can see as much information as possible.

Maybe I or someone else can help based on this aditional information.

 

@lbgh Almost exactly one year ago PlatinumSerb has send me his version 8.4 for testing. I don't know what the difference is to 0.6, but I assume a lot of bug fixes and additional features. I have not tried any versions before 8.4. Then I have created the whole infrastructure on GitHub and the installation script that allows customized installation. This is 8.5. Any other versions are outdated.

@goodidea i would have sent a git req but i have done all the works of garages but still i cant find why it isnt working i will try to figure this out and then hit a req on git ok.

@Ibgh if you are talking about difference,most of it are bug fixes and improvements.Several Vice Vity and Liberty City improvements,Some added cleo plugins(Radio Script and more),Some map improvements(LOD) just like that.

There may be some more like(enex or else) that i havent noticed but yes theres a lot of changes.

hey guysi've prepared this lc garages a few months ago.Played gta 3 a long time ago and not tecnically familliar with the map.Hence it would take ne hours to find all of the garages so if anyone want to test these garages and let me know if all of them are working it would be of a lot help.I would hit a git req afterwards.

 

Installation

 

 

1.Whatever the game verson,replace your Lc folder with the zip.

2.Replace the object.dat with this one provided.

3.place the garage.ipl somewhere in saxvcxlc directoey and mention it in gta.dat

 

Note all lc garages may not work if it doesnt work sent me the names(look in garage.ipl).I will fix them.

I did that and the install worked. But the game won't run. I've tried installing it with modloader, without modloader, deleting gta_set, NOTHING. It either freezes when I hit "New Game" or softlocks my entire PC at the end of the loadcreen (full bar). I can get rid of restarting my computer with a Windowed mode mod, but I dont know if that's causing problems in itself.

 

I got it to run ONCE actually, but no idea what I did. However it didn't detect my mouse anymore and I think it only ran on low resolution.

 

Can somebody upload and send me a link to a working install with password by PN ?

 

I'm really at the end of my words and pissed.
