Messy Graphics on Windows 10

Question

Stoney0503

So I recently got windows 10, when upgrading I tested out all my games to check if they were working properly, all of them worked except for 2 games, GTA 1 (not surprised), and GTA III, GTA III runs but I have one problem:

Thing is the game ran perfectly on Windows 8.1, I have tried different compatibility settings but no fix, has anyone else experienced this? Is there a solution?

Thanks.

I got it working, I deleted the txd.img, the game reinstalled it and then changed the resolution to 1360 x 768 x 32, while before it was something like 1360 x 768 x 16

Thanks for your help guys! :)

Delete the txd.img file from the models folder and let the game to rebuild that archieve on startup according to your graphics card.

That's not a solution if he uses Steam version. If it's retail, though - worth giving a try.

Your LOADSC9.TXD file in the txd folder is damaged/ bugged. There is no problem with your game. :santa:

Well, I redownloaded the game but the bug is still there. On Windows 7 it's fine.

Try changing the resolution

I get that problem with the menu until the resolution is changed, alt tab brings the text back.

Lots of old Direct3D & DirectDraw emulation changes were made starting from Windows 8.0 which is why you 1) Get the laggy menu & 2) Cannot play the game properly on anything lower than 32-bit colour resolution. If you're running Windows 8.0+ there isn't much you can do to fix the laggy menu, sometimes it works on some resolutions others not. Unlocking the frame limiter can also solve it but then you get other issues ingame. It's best to not mess with it and just use the menu as is.

Using SilentPatch and downloading the DDraw fix provided with SilentPatch fixed the issue for me.
