But this scene had my favorite performance of all time, with two other great performances (Roy Scheider loolooking down at his appendectomy scar is genius). I didn't look too deep for the whole scene, but all I could find was the speech. But its the greatest monologue in film history, so I don't think it's a problem... El Dildo Posted August 7, 2015 Share Posted August 7, 2015 (edited) well Quentin Tarantino movies don't really count. virtually every other scene is an independent masterclass in character-study and manual action. if I started picking movie scenes from his library we'd be here all day long watching entire films. for my next entry, I'll go with... I can't imagine what it takes to actually film a scene like this. in terms of total action. with all the other surrounding players, the production crew, the live special effects, the maintenance of the mood, to get everything to look and feel so realistic and intense all the while it's just an act. and that it's still so emotionally moving every time you see it, no matter what context. god damn amazing acting by the players involved and incredible guidance by Spielberg. actors can be great but a director has to mine that kind of performance from them. to give them the reason to reach that deep and to SELL it.
