Does GTA 5 Gameplay feel more like San Andreas or Vice City?

Some strange reason when I look at GTA 5, I feel this strange connection that I'm looking at a game that feels more like Vice City than it does San Andreas, Sure the location and maybe the skills system is more akin to San Andreas. But other things aside, the loose focus on story, owning businesses, stocks, and so on so forth feels more like Vice City. In terms of gameplay I say it plays close to SA in combat but other things says it plays more like Vice City, How do you feel about this and have you noticed this? Not sure if this is the right forum for this.

I don't think they play the same. GTA V is much bigger in size, with more content. Vice City does deal with businesses way better than V, and I prefer the story, it doesn't play like VC though, because it's an old game.

V feels more like a Saints Row-ified GTA.

V isnt a true GTA for me.

GTA V plays like GTA V, crazy I know.

Seriously though, gameplay wise it's not similar to either.

V seems like it isn't fully sure how to present itself. It's like Rockstar tried to cater to an audience, due to fans claiming they loved heist missions, or that IV removed too much. The 3 character concept, heists etc seems a lot like an experiment. No previous GTA title has ever seemed like it was catering or experimenting with new ideas, Rockstar just had a direction and stuck with it. IV seemed very confident in what it was doing, but V just doesn't have that same confidence.

Lethal Vaccine

When you enter Vehicles and see the Road Names when you are driving, the "italic" letters on the screen have the Vice City Vibe and italics. I thought this VERY thing when I popped V in my PS3 on September 2013. I was reminded of VC more than anything due to the italic letters...

V feels like an identity crisis, though, and trying to cater to ALL crowds, which I think failed.

No not at all.

GTA V feels nothing like the great, legendary title that is called Vice City. V don't even feel that much like GTA San Andreas. V has its own unique identity and in my opinion, it's not a very memorable one.

In fact, I felt that V felt much less like a GTA game and much more like a mix of various games like Splinter Cell, CODMW, Drive Club, and a bit of the The Sims. V felt the least GTA of all the GTAs to me.

Even GTA 4 which was the most driven GTA? And lacked a lot of content?

When you put it that way I think it did kinda fail. But it managed to make itself something regardless of its catering. In a sense of identity crisis maybe it feels more like VC. Sure, SA handled businesses too like VC but there was less of those and more of other things, I feel like sometimes VC was better than SA because of the content.

Gameplay, no. But to me, it's focus on the glitzy-glamorous side of crime did evoke a little of VC, TBOGT made the same impression on me as well.

Ahh so it just tried to be its own thing. But isn't that what GTA 5 tried to do?

The most driven GTA? You must've been new to the series. And lacked a lot of content? Maybe for some but for me, everything eventually boils down to walking/cruising/being chased by cops with every GTA and so I still really enjoy IV even without planes and jet skis. GTA IV at least felt like a GTA game to me. And the story had so much depth, it was developed very well. GTA 5 was fun to play through but the story sucked and in the end it didn't really ever feel like a GTA to me. It still doesn't. No matter how much I play the game, never am I reminded that it's GTA until I car jack someone...

We all know its sarcasm...the problem is your "sarcasm" and the one of MANY other people on the internet is just horrible, to read or listen to.

If you want to learn how to use sarcasm well...how about you learn something from Michael(Rockstar)...

Vigilante is still in V, just in the shape of the Minute Men SandF Missions.

LS is by far the most detailed city in any GTA and a lot of people wanted a diverse countryside instead of just one city.

As for the second part of your post,

you should try to write while you are calmed down since I realy dont see how GTA Online has anything to do with the Sims...

And whats the problem about good features beeing brought back to Online? It didnt "steal" them lol.

Sorry I meant to put story driven. I think a lot of the GTA's weren't the most "story" (f*ck I keep leaving story out) driven things. Shoot look at GTA 3 and GTA 2. Story wasn't the biggest department in open world action adventure games. Take Far Cry 4, a vast improvement over Far Cry 3. Shoot what makes me remind myself that's GTA is when I'm rampaging with Trevor or robbing stores and blasting the cops. Shoot regardless to me it's GTA.

No, you couldn't. Vigilante has you taking out single or multiple armed or fleeing criminals, who are sometimes in cars or other times on foot, in an unlimited amount of free roam gameplay. The Minute Men are a border patrol, taking place completely in the desert area of the map, having you to take out fleeing people with a stun gun, with only three missions. Not remotely close. You could say Bail Bonds are the Vigilante of GTA V, and even that is pretty limited.

neither, really... VC and SA have sh*tty gameplay. V doesn't control anything like them.

if you mean the theme, well, it's a bit of both... a bit of the 'get rich, capitalism' of VC, but also a lot of SA's 'being a bitch to a corrupt law official'

and in terms of systems, I guess it's a halfway point. way more than VC but maybe not quite as much as SA? I mean, it's about the same as SA but SA had more roleplaying stuff where as V has more minigames

but the raw gameplay is rather different... just try playing SA or VC on Free Aim. the gunplay is horrid and controls are loose. V has much tighter controls and gunplay, in large part to the 1:1 input-to-action controls (removed weight momentum and body lag in-combat) and much tighter strafing/turning. V is pretty solid on Free Aim

Yeah that is true, when i first played GTA V i felt like this is what Saints Row would be if they never became wacky and had an actual ONLINE mode.

I also thought the italics was a GTA VC thing too that i noticed in the first 10 minutes of gameplay.

EDIT: Rockstar should've saved Michael for GTA VI(CE CITY).

All of the above was in Chinatown Wars, too ;) Which was released AFTER TBoGT and BEFORE V. Not to mention CW has the most original features in the entire Series in which doesn't exist in any other GTA's. It's extremely unique of a game and nobody counts it since barely anyone has a DP/PSP to play it on and forgets that it was released for iOS/Android. I am pretty sure majority of people now have a Smart Phone in which they can get CW and experience it. Even if someone didn't like it, they wasted $4.99, which is pocket change...It's worth every penny to me, though.
