Svip
Oh my word, I just learnt that the car in the series is a fraud! There were no right-hand drive version of the Quattro prior to 1983, and the producers knew that! At least I can respect their counter-argument; 'who cares? It's a cool car!'. sivispacem
Yep. In fact, the entire presence of the Quattro is anachronistic because the first series was set through the summer of 1980 and the Quattro didn't go into production until September/October of that year. Svip
Damn, it turns out they actually got the number plate right. Even if that plate could never have been fitted to a Quattro. Edited December 27, 2016 by Svip
K1FFLOM
Nice car anyhow ! But the Quattro variations from the customizer "Artz" are even more interesting. He was one of the few German customizers of the 80s whose cars have become legends (like those from "b&b" and "styling garage"). At least in card games of those days which pictures, little boys eyes gazed at with amazement. The estate is commonly known: ( scroll down on both links for pictures ) http://www.passat-kartei.de/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=12198 But the 4-door version is as cool as it gets: http://www.oldtimermuseum-hoeing.de/news/02-04-2012-der-artz-ist-da.html Edited December 27, 2016 by K1FFLOM
sivispacem
Few more saloons floating around, like this 800bhp one: Dottie 1 AMD Ryzen 5900X (4.65GHz All-Core PBO2) | Gigabye X570S Pro | 32GB G-Skill Trident Z RGB 3600MHz CL16 EK-Quantum Reflection D5 | XSPC D5 PWM | TechN/Heatkiller Blocks | HardwareLabs GTS & GTX 360 Radiators Corsair AX750 | Lian Li PC-O11 Dynamic XL | EVGA GeForce RTX2080 XC @2055MHz | Sabrant Rocket Plus 1TB Sabrant Rocket 2TB | Samsung 970 Evo 1TB | 2x ASUS ROG Swift PG279Q | Q Acoustics 2010i | Sabaj A4
K1FFLOM
With the difference that your picture is of a regular Audi 80 -Quattro- saloon. The Artz conversion is that of a regular Quattro (if you can call the 33rd Quattro ever built "regular") and converted to a 4-door using Audi 80 saloon body parts. The rear of the car was adopted to that of the coupe, including the hidden boot-release (trunk-release). This car is from 1981. And the chap in the pictures, sitting behind the wheel of said car, is no other than Walter Röhrl. The coolest Quattro is the Audi 200 conversion "Condor" from Bischofberger. The black/white pictures in my following link show the car. The others are from an Audi 100 conversion: http://www.langzeitauto.de/de/Bischofberger Edited December 27, 2016 by K1FFLOM
sivispacem
It's not really a "regular" 80Q saloon, given that the underpinnings are derived from a Group B spec Audi Quattro chassis. Rather like the Artz conversion, it's a heavily modified 80Q body stitched into a ur Quattro chassis. jpm1
i always found the Quattro a cool rally car. but in the 80s Audi wasn't the top notch brand it is today. their car weren't very popular back then. Mercedes with its 560 SEC or BMW with its 850i which design was made in the 80s were much more dream vectors. cars that made me dream when i was a kid in the 80s, in that order - Lamb countach. my love for that car totally felt down when i saw a Top gear featuring B. May, when he was clearly saying that the car was as fun to drive as a field tractor - Ferrari F40 (what an amazing design that only italian designers can produce) - Porsche 959 (incredibly modern for its era. probably the best car ever made) - Ferrari Testarossa - Mercedes 560 SEC (white preferably ) - and as a french i was and i am still a huge fan of the 205 turbo 16 of course as an adult cars that i could buy, 80s Testarossa, 560 SEC, Ferrari Daytona replica with corvette chassis (like Miami vice series car). the 959 still makes me dream but nowadays it's extremelly expensive. i don't know if i could put so much money in a piece of metal Edited December 30, 2016 by jpm1
