K1FFLOM
Thanks. I tweaked my pictures in my earlier posting as they were too small. The E34 you pictured isn't a 1987 model. It is a later version with the wide "kidney". The first models had a narrower one which, if I remember rightly, was first used for the V8 models and only with a later facelift got used for the other ones as well. sebcreed
IMO all the rust buckets and Broncos need to go. I'm surprised no one has mentioned the legendary F40 yet. Back when the French actually knew how to make nice cars, Alpine A310 Although I'd buy the A110 if I could. Flachbau
Maybe people are posting "rust buckets" and Broncos because they like them? I thought that was easy to comprehend.. I guess not. Ford F150 This is definitely my favorite, though. Loved how the Thunderbird looked in the 80's. unbid and Skeever

K1FFLOM
My favourite 80s car: My baby, called "Emmelie". Everyone has got alloys on their CRX. Mine is probably the only one here with steelies like this. Notice the absence of the counterweights on the outside of the wheels ? I balanced the rims as if they were alloys: The weights are all on the inside. Have the car sold by a trusted mate, even though I am on the other side of the planet at the moment. I am still thinking on what to get next. My thoughts are going toward a lo-mileage, pre 2003, H6 Subaru Legacy/ Outback....

Svip
I wish I could nominate the Citroën CX, because it was so potent throughout the 1980s, but since it was actually designed in the 1970s and released in 1975, I don't think it counts. The CX itself went from 74 to 91 to covers a wide gamut. General question. Are cars that cover the 80's allowed or are only specific models permissable? K1FFLOM
Whilst in Australia I managed to sell my Honda CRX via my best mate. Back in Germany now my first drive was down to Bavaria to look at a car. It is modelyear 1988, has complete history including a log-book with all the fuel-fill ups from 1988-2016. The car is in a better condition as mine which I had from 1991-1994. It has never been deregistered and even has the rare original, leather seats. It is probably the only one still registered, and in such a condition in Germany. I bought the car. The car is a maroon 1988 Rover 213 S with grey interior. Surely the car is as interesting as marmite/vegemite. But definitely worth saving, imho. Sorry for no pics... sivispacem
It's not that it won't be interesting, though from a driving perspective it won't. It's interesting inasmuch as it's a curio from a dead company, but I wouldn't wish one on my worst enemy. Rover quality control was effectively nonexistent. It's worth saving solely as an example of how not to build a car, or run a car company. A shame really as some Rover products, like the K-series, were wonderfully inventive and would have been hugely competent had they not been assembled by the engineering equivalent of North Korea. The guy who runs the Motorpunk blog used to work in the quality control industry and occasionally posts his stories from the shop floors of various marques. I think the old Rover (now Mini) plant Oxford is up next. K1FFLOM
The build quality of the SD3 was not bad and have seen the ciVic equivalent of the Rover, it is a better car. Sure, it is no super-saloon. That is beside-the-point. My point is the dwindling numbers on the website "howmanyleft". The point will come, when it has vanished completely. I just want to save one. )))
sivispacem
The biggest problem with the early 200 series as far as I'm aware is the S-series engine, whuch by the release of the 200 was already nearly 20 years old as a design. I can't speak for the 12-valve 1.3 though. Oh, and rust literally everywhere.
