Is there any known map of the GTA America?

is there any known map of the GTA America? Well that's the question I'm asking but the main reason I want to know is whether Los Santos, Liberty City and Vice City are represented as islands inside the universe or whether they'd just consider them to be attached to the rest of America like their real life counterparts Los Angeles, New York and Miami are.

Would seem strange for them not to be considered as islands inside the GTA universe seeing as that's what they appear as to us but I can't ever remember on a GTA game them actually calling them islands.

If anyone knows I'd be very interested to here.

No, there is no such thing unless you can find a fanmade one. Also no, they are not islands in a larger picture, Vice City is part of Florida, Los Santos is in California etc.. everything just like in real life.

They are islands in the game for gameplay reasons, so the map would feel complete to the player, nothing more, nothing less. If they were to make the next GTA and call it San Andreas, including LS, SF and possibly LV, and keep the same LS design from V, this map would simply be expanded north and east as if it never was an island in the midle of an ocean... but that SA map would still be one bigger island, again for gameplay reasons.

It's better that way than what they did in GTA III where the map was seemingly connected to the rest of the world with a tunnel that was closed off, pipes and invisible walls prevented us from going to the other side of that tunnel/hill in a boat, and officialy there were no flyable planes or helicopters. But once you learned to fly that Dodo, and went to the other side all you'd see is a hill just standing there as a decoration which suddenly cuts off, which worked back then, but in a modern title would simply be ridiculous so they make sure the map is actually complete for the player.

Right here.

World maps can be found in Fort Zancudo. If I remember correctly, someone said something is off about the way Australia is portrayed on the map - but that is most likely due to the Australian-American War.

You'll notice that other than that, America in GTA is very similar to its real-life counterpart, because like Dope said, the maps aren't really islands. They're all connected to the mainland, but for obvious reasons you don't see this in-game.

Thanks, been about ten years since I played GTA 3 and I was only 11 when I did and can't remember that.

Agreed that it does make the game better, and makes the world seem more complete when they don't simply block your passage anywhere to the rest of the map and making up some inexplicable reason.

Sort of became a running joke in GTA's that there was something going on to prevent your access to the other islands too! To be honest I do kind of miss progressing in the story and unlocking these new places all of a sudden!

This will always be the best fan made one I've ever seen:

Sorry for the poor resolution. Maybe somebody can find a better quality version?

E. Turns out the resolution wasn't as bad as it was on the link I copied it from.

Yeas, there is world map in gta 4 inside that one office where Niko wisits for some missions.

Its just like real life map and haves markers that say Liberty city, Los Santos, and Vice city. Locations are just like New York, Los Angeles And Miami.

GTA islands are not really islands. Its only becouse game play reasons.

North side and east side of gta v map is river.

Lester mentions paleto county behaind river in paleto bay.

Also you can't see the ocean while driving anywhere north of Chiliad or anywhere on the East Coast. Only on the west. The rest is blocked by mountains, I believe to give the illusion that there is more map yo the north and east, and the west clearly borders the ocean.

I believe that the water North of Paleto is actually a river, as implied in dialogue and a billboard advertising the Bay - you can see more land where there isn't any in game.

I remember seeing that one long time ago. I don't really like it much due to USA beign pretty narrow, no major cities between LS and VC and they are way too close to each other (with respect to their real-life distance).
