What error do you get?

Have you tried running the game in Windows 98 compatibility mode?

go get silentpatch and it's directdraw for VC/III it fixes incompatibility problems with win 7 and 8/8.1.

njain. its very important for to where did u put the components of VC. i had that issue with win 7 64 bit too. dont put the game in (C:) program files/program files (86x). its wrong. put them in a separate folder. in C exactly. make a folder named Games. and put VC in there. it works fine. try n see what it does. if not work then idk..mine is also win7 64-bit and i made it that way in 2 PCs. its a proved thing..uninstall n do my way.

Easy. Just add VC to exceptions in Windows DEP. Here You go, in the propereties of 'My Computer' go to: >>> Advanced System Settings >>> Performance Settings >>> Data Execution Prevention, select the second 'tick' then add gtavc.exe as exception into the list. I don't remember if restart is needed but this should fix the problem for sure :)

DO.

NOT.

EVER.

DO.

THAT.

Even though the OP's problem is likely solved by now, I have to note that adding the 'second tick' will break random other things on your PC. If any game seriously requires that, use a program to patch the game's EXE to remove the so-called 'NXCOMPAT' flag, and UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES follow the above instructions.

Inactive in GTA/R* title modification indefinitely pursuant to a court order obtained by TTWO. Good job acting against modding!

Funny. Lets count , it is like 4 years since i do so and nothing bad happened after that, not any single fault with other things, programs games etc. after that fix, so just let him decide :p I mean you are probably right that it is risky thing bcz it's messing with OS advanced functions, but i didn't notice any problems poping up after that. Well, after all he can at least give it a try.
