As mentioned here, I believe that we're in the golden age of the wide open sandbox game. And I honestly think that GTA V kicked off this golden age.

I went and saw La La Land in cinemas yesterday and I found myself recognizing so many of the locations, Rockstar did a really good job of capturing LA.

So a few weeks ago, I went back to last-gen to get the heist achievements for the Xbox 360 version, and honestly, it feels like a breath of fresh air. To me, it feels more casual and relaxed now that the updates have stopped. It's a nice escape from the hype trains, keeping up with the Joneses, etc that you see on current gen.

I jumped out of my Swift after someone HL'd it, and I parachuted to the ground. I slipped up and faceplanted, but my character got up quick and I swear to god I took the best potshot of my life. I noscoped this guy with the Heavy Sniper. And it was a headshot too.

I found that one out easy. Yesterday like I said in the "Share Your Stories" thread, which I should of posted in B&M, I got potshotted by a Professional with a SMG out of my Buzzard AC, and I was hovering over him, my window not even visible. It was in Los Santos Connection too. Mind you, we've had terminators since last generation, it's just that they got way better in I/E.

This is the kind of update Rockstar should have been making from the start instead of the military stuff, the high life stuff that didn't add any actual CRIME to the crime game.

Don't get me wrong, certain military stuff is ingrained in GTA's history (Rhino, Hunter) but other stuff like the Marksman Rifle (honestly the worst addition to the game other than the Hydra IMO), the Homing Launcher and the Bulletproof helmet stray too far. The high life stuff was alright, but it should have been stuff like E&OC and FAFF from the start - Adding new paths in money making to afford all the high life stuff that the update also adds.

Unfortunately it's too little and too late to straight-up remove the egregious parts of the game like the armored Kuruma, Marksman Rifle and Hydra, so some of the new content is negatively impacted (8 man 'biker crews' all operating military equipment and sh*tting up lobbies comes to mind) but it's still pretty good.

I'm sorry, us soldiers like being soldiers. Don't discriminate. If I want to wear a BP helmet and use a Insurgent for normal driving and sometimes a Mesa, then I will. I don't often use a Hydra in FM because it's cancer. I use my Pegasus vehicles mostly for contact missions. The Armoured Kuruma is good whether you think so or not. It helps so much in missions. Just get used to paying a insurance fine or potshotting the driver with a Combat MG.
