GTA III Soundtrack (Info + Links)

I have a better rip of that one (it's louder). I'm more interested in the Slyder songs. I might update my Rise FM mix if higher quality versions are available.

Louder doesn't mean better quality. If a track is quiet you can easily amplify it. I'll download the new rip by Helegad and will have a listen. If the rip you have is the one that I have I'll let you know which one is better.

Actually sound fidelity is related to dynamic compression. The louder you make a song without distorting the better it will sound on most audio equipment. Compression brings detail to the surface.

While losing the original feel of the mix in the process. I see two better solutions to your problem:

1. Turn your speakers up

2. Use ReplayGain

No. If the dynamic range compression is too much it won't sound good at all since the sound becomes flat, many elements of the track could be "washed", etc. Everything should be done with caution and precision. That's why mastering a track is a very difficult task. But mastering a track for vinyl is even more difficult task because you must have all the physical limitations of the vinyl in mind. So you know - you can't expect miracles from a vinyl. You can try to remaster a vinyl rip just how I did with Slyder - Score but nothing can be better than having the original digital master itself :)

About the new rip by Helegad - it sounds better than the previous one for sure. There's still noticeable vinyl noise but not that much. Yet the rip that I have is still better. Your copy doesn't sound really good in the high frequency range and that's probably because its age (which is normal for vinyl). That's the sad thing about vinyl - the sound quality degrades with time.

I'm still waiting for the day when we'll receive a decent rip of Slyder - Score.

EDIT: are yiu sure that you recorded it with 0% pitch? It sounds like it was pitched

Probably was off a bit. It sort of clicked the other week that a lot of my vinyls weren't playing at the right speed so I learned how to calibrate with a strobe light, which is pretty cool.

I am now the proud owner of Neo (missed out on Score by a day) so when that arrives I'll deliver a re-rip of Deep Time too.

EDIT: Bought Shake and Innerbattle too :D

Here is an early Christmas present for those it might interest! (Read Comment below)
Slyder - Neo (The One)
Slyder - Neo (R.R.D.S Chewable Remix)

Slyder - Score (Original Mix)

And a few other Slyder tracks available as a free download in FLAC/WAV :santa:
Make sure to grab Slyder - Jetscream as well.

None of that is official. Those are old rips from Slsk or Rutracker or whatever and presented as being official with the option to pay money for it, which is even f*cking worse. That rip of Score has been floating around for ages and it SUCKS.

Wasnt aware of that, unziped the files and had a listen now, truly horrible indeed.. Sorry for that one, never stumbled upon anything like that on Bandcamp before, I just really wanted to believe I struck gold or something, but to lazy to even check the files I downloaded, heh.

I remember some time ago a guy on facebook managed to collect some fresh (unofficial) remixes of Slyder - Score from their authors.

You can download them for free here: https://slyder2.bandcamp.com/album/score-remixes(flac included)

Some of them are really good.

This is an interesting short edit of the track that I ripped from Soundcloud (uploaded on the 13th of November 2013). It's available to stream at www.mirrormachines.com/work as an ambedded Soundcloud link. The cool thing is that the track is in a good CD quality (not a vinyl rip). The release name and label information on my video was copied from that page. All Soundcloud uploads by Mirror Machines are private and were probably uploaded to be embeded on their website.

Some of the old forum members may remember that the website promoted in Game FM (gamecrib.com) was a real site back in the day and it was closed in 2007 (if I remember correctly). But it's still possible to "visit" it at archive.org by selecting an early date. It's buggy but you still can go to the "Music" page of the website where you can find the releases. They have buy links but some of them also have a mp3 download link to a single track (usually the A side). The bitrate of the mp3 is in 256 kbps or 192 kbps. This is the place where I've got the track Ilacoin Feat. Labba & Black Rob - By A Stranger because it was available as a 256kbps mp3 and I did it back in the day when the site was still online. This is the only track featured on Game FM which wasn't re-released (unlike many others which were released later on CD albums like VA - Game Tight or Royce Da 5'9'' - Build & Destroy) which means that there's no high quality source (CD) for By A Stranger. Well 256 kbps mp3 is still good quality having in mind that this is the only digital copy that you ca nget and I'm not sure if you can find vinyl anymore (probably Helegad can correct me here if I'm wrong) or if you can find it may be in a bad condition.

So I finally decided to update the main post and add the download link right after the track title (also added a footnote with information about the link) since I think that this doesn't violate any of the forum rules (the link was officially available at gamecrib.com).

Would you happen to have that By a stranger file? I think the MP3 I have is a vinyl rip, but could be wrong. Also, any vinyl recordings of tracks from RISE FM? I snagged some from other sources and actually one of them is tagged with your username haha.

Hopefully one of you guys can help me out since all these links are dead :(

Thanks in advance!

Plenty of copies of the By a Stranger/The Big Hurt split for a cheap price, and many in VG+ condition :)

Well, it was already answered for you, that same mp3 file is what I have which is actually IMO the best quality you can ever get of this tune because it's the digital release. No matter what is the condition of the vinyl you find, I doubt you'll pull out a rip that sounds better and has the full frequency range

"Slyder - Score" was also released in digital quality on a random loveparade mixset CD.

It's sadly missing the beginning because the previous track crossfades into it. But it has the full outro. Ray Munns "Ray's House" CD.

Of course you can also buy the vinyl from discogs. There's one copy for sale from china right now for a sleek 850$ :sadkek:
