NinjaCat
Ok, this sounds like a challenge. I hope TLC replies, he's always pretty competent with these things... anyways, I'll give it a shot. <Ahem> Hello again class, Prof. NinjaCat here at your service once more. Today's topic is maximizing height off jumps. Our specific example today is the water gap near Hyman Memorial Stadium. Now, let's begin by analyzing the jump a bit shall we? The "jump" in question is actually quite a complex little bugger isn't it? The left center part is more of a slope really. Quite hard to get any air there. The far left... well, that veers off into the water if you hit that, so that's out. The right is a small ledge that is nearly impossible to not crash off of. You may ask, what does this leave us? The tricky bit to this jump is hitting the bit of the wall just right of the slope on the left center. Think about it like this: You want to jump your bike off of the lip of the wall. To do this, you should aim for the bit of the wall which would be less than half the size of your rear tire. This bit of the wall, when struck correctly, will propel you upward, or rather, bounce you, to approximately 80 ft or so, possibly more. How do you strike the bit of the wall correctly? Well, you need speed. Lots of it. Your speed will roughly translate into height if you hit the jump properly. So, you must start from the dock area beyond the grassy knoll all the way south. Navigating the trees, well, that's your problem. I pass the last set of trees on their right side, between them and the wall. There are some tricky bits in the landscaping, you'll just have to experiment a bit to find which path you feel most comfortable with. Remember to keep your head behind the windscreen for extra speed. Once you have your route to maximum speed, and your spot on the lip lined up properly, you must then concentrate on your jump mechanics. You see, you can't hit the wall with your front tire, or you'll fall into the water and die a most tragic death. So, to avoid this finality, you must pop a wheelie before you hit the lip. About 2/3 of the way across the concrete platform preceding the wall, pull back and pop a wheely. You don't want your front end sticking straight up, but rather you want your front wheel moving upwards and just slightly out of the way of the wall. If these steps are followed correctly, you will now be airbourne. To maximize your height on the jump, try to pull a flip by holding diagonal back down, but make it more of a sideways diagaonal than a down diagonal. You'll do a spin and a flip, as pure flips are not possible within the GTA universe apparently. Now, practice makes perfect. So I encourage you all to experiment and have fun. Good Day, NinjaCat out.
