Official things you actually dislike about GTA IV thread

Smoking and how it seems to be the issue of foremost importance to the pedestrians of Liberty City.

Seriously. Weren't there any more pressing issues to New Yorkers in 2007/2008 than being forced to light up outdoors?

Johnny can use a kind of sticky bomb too, wannabe hardcore 666

Pipe Bomb is just a grenade with smoke, a home-made grenade. And how is he a wannabe

He's a wannabe hardcore 666 for being killed being head stomped by a retarded methead psycopath who banged his GF a lot of times. Luis wouldn't let this happen to him, he would kill Trevor in that moment.

Whatever helps you sleep at night.

Yeah, he'll most likely be gone again shortly...

O.T. - I found another thing that bothered me today. After shooting one of those horrendous pigeons and getting that annoying, but easy, one star wanted level...I noticed NPC drivers going ape sh*t and running into me and just acting totally stupid. Niko's body was literally trapped under some asshole car that ran into me and the car wouldn't move, therfore I got busted and had to reload the game and do a few pigeons over again. When Niko falls to the ground when getting slightly bumped by a car he takes so long to get up, he also falls down slow...Meanwhile cops are running up on me. It's really annoying. I just wanted to use the RPG on the pile up of idiotic cars ramming into me and driving backward and over the guardrail and on top of rocks, some cars even flipped over. They literally go ape sh*t...

Don't worry he's Busted, again.

Anyway, do you think/wish that the silenced pistol that was dropped during development of IV, would have made shooting all the pidgeons/seagulls much easier? I have been thinking about it ever since I discovered the silenced pistol had been cut.

Cheers.

Dimitri's last name.

Just how obvious could they get? Russian names are written in Cyrillic alphabet, so you'd never even see one with a "c" in it when transliterated to Latin, that's how obvious it stood out. Might as well wear an "I'M THE VILLAIN" shirt.

I'd say so, yeah. The Desert Eagle and Sniper Rifle were way too f*cking loud and cops always noticed it, it seemed. I used a Helicopter and tried landing on the roof of where the Pigeons were, even if they were on the ground, etc. Thus, I wouldn't have to worry about the cops pulling me out while the slow ass helicopter would start up and get airborne. Also, idiot NPC drivers would just ram into the Helicopter once I parked it on the street. Idiots, lol...

Also, I have to say the cover system is really poor in IV. When it first came out, it was great but compared to games like Max Payne 3 it really pales in comparison. It just feels so broken and clunky, Niko doesn't even take cover properly.

The cover system hasn't aged well at all IMO.

As Kampert has described it before it's quite "sticky", but to be fair it was the first time cover had been used in a GTA game. Still better than running out into the open like an idiot in the 3D era GTAs IMO.

However I don't think it's fair comparing GTA IV's cover to MP3's. Even GTA V despite being vastly improved in this aspect still isn't as fluid as MP3 is let alone GTA IV.

Yeah... The stickyness of the cover kinda ruined it. I kinda hoped there's a V cover mod for IV.

I wish V used MP3's cover system.

Something that crossed my mind that I thought R* done a half assed job on. The camera on the phone. It's useless other than the couple of missions it's used in.

GTA V's Snapmatic is so much better.

Too bad Snapmatic doesn't work without being signed in to PSN/XBL.

At least on the PC version, I wished you could save the photos into a photos folder in your GTA IV save folder. In one way San Andreas did that feature better on PC.

Cheers.

Things GTA IV needs...

-Character customization: Saint's Row perfected this, and Bully (another rockstar title) had it pretty great in the clothing part of it. (Since the GTA games have more in depth protagonists just customizable clothes would work too) GTA V did alright but I still like Bully's best.

-More activities in free roam: You can drive around, shoot stuff, explore the huge world, and do about 8 activities with your friends, and police missions. That is all good fun but there still should be more...

-More multiplayer mod protection: At least on PS3, there were people with mods joining MP games all the time. Modding is awesome, but not in multiplayer unless it is a private session and you're not being an annoying dick.

-Getting drunk in free roam without hanging out with your friends.

-Car customization

-Buy cars legally: Ya you can hijack whatever you want, but buying them would be pretty cool too and wouldn't be hard to make in the game at all.

-More crap to spend our money on: This is a problem with most R* titles...

-Lack of weapons and vehicle types: Miniguns, jetpacks, flame throwers, planes, tanks...

-Wanted level staying: I've only seen this in Mafia II but it would be pretty cool in GTA as well. Your clothing and/or vehicle gets wanted by police for major crimes.

Luckily, most of the things above can be added with mods :D

I never had problems with backup system in IV. However i didn`t play MP so i don`t know about backup there.

I don`t see any problems with this, you just need to be carefull not to backing up in the wrong area that`s all. And that blind backup fire rules, you simply put a white dot on enemy and fire, that way you can kill lot of goons without losing any health/armour

Now, after 45 hours of crazy IV/EFLC playing and driving i can hardly find any thing i dislike about it at all. Except maybe bikes in IV/TBOGT. But even that you can grow love for with little practice.

Anyway when you`re playing a 2008 game and still have fun with in 2014, then you know that is a hell of a good game. I wonder how i got bored of V already and it`s not even 2 years old?

The lack of customization available for Niko, the lack of (infinite) sides activities related to gunfights and shotouts and decent street races.

In other words, lack of replay value after you reach 100%. EFLC pretty much fixed this issue for me.

the lack of (infinite) sides activities related to gunfights and shotouts and decent street races.

How about the Vigilante missions? They were infinite gunfights you could do after the storyline. By using Dwayne's backup I got to higher levels (around 70) and the gunfights with weapons like sniper rifles or I believe even RPGs were decent for me. Races maybe weren't that special, but at least the cars were randomizing every time you were taking one of them, so they were still better than boring V street races.

So, you can actually get into bigger gunfights if you keep doing more vigilante missions?? I never knew that, I remember doing a few which consisted in killing a few thugs and thats it.

Can you elaborate a bit more about how it works? I might install GTAIV soon (I currently play EFLC only) if it turns out to be more complex than killing 3-5 guys in an alley.

Edited by gunziness

With the vigilante missions typically they get harder as in they start to use grenades and such.

@gunziness

As you may (or may not) know there are three types of criminal acts to fight as a vigilante. These are from easiest to hardest: lonely criminal, stolen vehicle and gang activity. Every time you complete one of them it counts as a level and the difficulty is increasing. Criminals are getting better weapons, they steal better cars, they drive and shoot better. From random criminal with a knife to guy with Sniper Rifle, from two weak guys in slow car to Oracle or Cognoscenti with three guys armed with SMGs, from weak gang with pistols to heavily armed group of ten gangsters defending their positions with grenades, sniper rifles and rocket launchers. The higher levels are really intense and common result will be just a tick of red health for Niko (I got fights where I lost Dwayne's boys because they were simply mowed with fire). Just complete some of the first crimes and you should notice that your enemies have stronger weapons and they are simply speaking more powerful.

It sucks, that you actually can't see gorgeous sunsets like in GTA V, the skyscapers are everything you'd see in the sky. Then I dislike boring cars, like Primo's, Manana's, Cavalcades, Dukes, that are everywhere :(

Stand on top of the rotterdam tower and watch the sunset.
