Where would you set up a zombie survivor camp?

As the title says. Assuming some aggressive survivors on the big island, and you have a group of 10. A rooftop, a whole floor in an apartment building, something at the airport or harbor area? An island, the lighthouse, a pier, some rural place, the prison or the army camp? Or a Mt Chiliad camp? Thinking Walking Dead here.

Currently I really fancy the Sightings Bar & Restaurant, has a great wall/fence all around it for the zombies, and a lot of free open space for a bit of farming on the lower roof if you get some soil up there, and also a very good lookout position on the top roof. Aternatively I'd also go for a high floor eclipse apartment, and stuff it full with freezers for food storing, and keep the lights off in the night.

For a larger group, the area at lake mirror could be nice, with the triangular area as the heart of the settlement with the high trees for lookouts. Also the many walls and fences could be easily connected and the few streets blocked for a complete perimeter.

I don't like piers, because they're easily attackable from beneath. The altruist camp is too easily sniped and attacked from above.

First thought is the Altruist Camp. Only one way up, and they're probably stocked with lots of interesting stuff...

Wait, are zombies able to Snipe now?

One of the small Islands that surround the state on the coast. One of them has a little shack of the West Coast by the north mouth of the Alamo sea river where you can hide in.

No but the bad guy survivors. Those too lazy, dumb or evil to build and develop their own camp and take care of their own food.

Yeah I know that island, once spawned a camper and spent an afternoon there. Not sure though if you would get enough food with fishing, and getting it and medicine from somewhere else is a dangerously long journey every time with a lot of exposure to the bad guys. Also not sure if zombies can't cross water. One in a dozen may make it...

Well if being shot at is also an issue, I might still stick with Altruist Camp, just have a few people go out to the forest (or lumber mill) and gather some supplies to make addition barriers and cover with. Some loose netting with twigs, branches, leaves, etc hung across the top of the camp would be a decent camouflage and sniper-deterrent.

The big yacht off the Del Perro pier would be decent as well. Just have to watch out for people swimming up to it.

If only the Olifantus was driveable, I would use that, and dock up only for provisions :) A big container ship, once cleared of undeads and taken a bit offshore could house a lot of people, but surely is too big for just a few to monitor the surrounding.

I still think the altruist camp is not worth the work of building additional defenses uphill. I only see three watertowers, but no well? Is that windmill powering a waterpump? I do like the cliff though.

How about the Pacific Bank? Lots of room inside, and only 2 ways to get inside. If things get heavy, there's always that vault downstairs.

Easy deathtrap in and down there, easy to hunger or smoke you out :( The safest places tend to be deathtraps, and zombies are very very patient.... Always have a safe and quick way to get out and away, that's what I think.

Set up a camp on that island you rescue Avi from on Pacific Standard. It's far enough away from land

I don't know much about zombies, but after watching Falling Skies recently I dare say I have a few ideas. The best location would be easily defended, with plenty of storage for provisions and in easy access of provisions. Which leads me to conclude that somewhere in the North of SA would be best. You have the shops in Paleto and Grapeseed, the chicken factory must have frozen food ready to be shipped and there will be less zombies around.

The only place that springs to mind would be the Altruist camp, but it does have some flaws as already mentioned. I reckon the Weed Farm would be decent as a base. True, it is easy to spot from above but it's surrounded by steep mountain slopes and its secluded. Build a stockade around it, ensure there's a few guards keeping an eye on the riverbed and everything is good. Plus, its just a short drive down to Paleto or Grapeseed. A decent truck and a couple of pickups, maybe one with a mounted machine-gun, and the job's a goodun.

This is what I was referring to in my earlier reply.

I got another idea, what about setting up a camp by the LS damn north-east side of the city. You could build walls surrounding the perimeter and harvest electricity by making a hydro-electric plant around the streams of water. It's also high up and has only 2 ways in.

Okay I might be ripping off Tommy from The Last of US here, but who cares!

I like the small terminal building on the south side of lsia nice wide open area to spot anything approaching. Roof access easily blocked stairs at the back. ..

While i don't have any specific places in mind, I'm sure as hell that you shouldn't be in Los Santos when the outbreak begins.

Major cities will belong to the dead. Your best chance of survival is at a low populated area. I assume that Sandy Shores or Grapeseed are much safer than LS.

Remember Atlanta in TWD? And we'll also get to see what happens to Las Angeles in FTWD.

Would be so much like the walking dead! I'm guessing you could give Trevor a eye patch and call him The Guv'nor!

I think in an outbreak though Fort Zancudo would either become a camp for refugee's like you say or it's possible the army would put it on lockdown and shoot anyone who comes near it for fear of them being infected.

Nice thread idea btw OP.

Official General

Look at this sh*t. Seriously, just look at bullsh*t, look what GTA has turned into. From stupid FIB, terrorist plots, unfunny American culture parodies and now this - zombie survivor camps ? Now GTA is all about f*cking generic, boring zombies that really should have nothing to do with the series in the damn first place.

That's right Rockstar follow fashion with bullsh*t trends and tarnish your great reputation even further.

That doesn't sound like a good place for a zombie hideout.

On the streets. I can keep on killing them and when I die I'll just re-spawn back at the hospital and continue repeating until I kill all the zombies.

The Humane Labs and Research Facility could be an option; only one way in so it provides a good bottleneck to defend (assuming zombies can't climb mountains).

I'm also very sure that the facility is self-sustainable since it's a top-secret and secret place; it gets water straight from the ocean next to it.

Fort Zancudo. Heavily defended, and quick access to a heli. Good luck to any zombie that tries to get in there.

No camp is really needed on V. Just walk around freely, if they even dare to look at you, Supercop's AI will deal with them swiftly, head shots every time.

NOOSE compound on the right side of the map has 2 places for a helicopter and tall chain link fencing. Plus you can see all around it on the top floor. I call dibs on it. -__-

I say Paleto Bay is a good place to make a stand against zombies.

Personally I would love for the SP DLC to be focused around Trevor, Ron, Karen, and the IAA. Throw in Zombies to equation and you got some action packed exciting Story DLC!

Plus zombies would make sense story-wise because of the Humane Labs angle.
