LeakyLine
Alright. We all know the whole 'different universes different cities' crap. Is it possible that Carcer city follows this too? Alright. So let's say that the Carcer City mentioned in 3D era GTA games is in fact thew version from Manhunt. BUT. It's also mentioned in GTA V- could this be a different version of Carcer? Maybe as an actual city instead of a wasteland, therefor opening the possibility of a GTA set in Carcer City? Maybe a Michael prequel? Where we get to hit the outskirts bank? Sorry, I'm tired here. Excuse if anything is unintelligible.
ObsydianRaven
I've said this before, and will say it again. I personally think that Carcer City is the same in both universes, and the events of Manhunt happen in both. ZT-

Who says that the GTA universe theory doesn't apply to their other games that share the same universes anyway?
GamesBoy316
I think it's in the same universe. There's some references from GTA that talk about it.
LeakyLine
I know that, I'm wondering if Carcer city follows the 3D and HD universe thing.
GamesBoy316
Probably. Even though I don't know about it, maybe if GTA VI takes place in Vice City, Rockstar can go there, something new. The Dedito Gae
I've said this before, and will say it again. I personally think that Carcer City is the same in both universes, and the events of Manhunt happen in both. Why?The events of Manhunt are mentioned in III, and HD is a new "start", sadly there's no James Earl Cash in HD universe, he's with Tommy and CJ. IMO, Carcer City is Detroit, seeing as Michael works in the canadian border and Detroit is in his turf Lowi and LeakyLine
PhillBellic
There may as well be an HD Version of Carcer City as well.
Mr. Someguy
Iirc The Director is mentioned in The Ballad of Gay Tony, so the events of Manhunt are most likely still canon. The scrapped canon was the GTA3 era protagonists, and since Manhunt isn't technically a GTA game, it's not subject to the same rule.

Niko Montana
I've said this before, and will say it again. I personally think that Carcer City is the same in both universes, and the events of Manhunt happen in both. I belive that Carcer City exists in the HD Universe (as there are many references to it), but I don't think Manhunt takes place in the HD Universe. For example, Liberty City exists in HD, but III's events do not occur. I belive that the same applies for Carcer City. LeakyLine
slimeball supreme
The events of Manhunt took place. Maybe. You can read up how on my page. Shameless Self Promotion FTW LeakyLine

Sawnek
Bullworth Academy from Bully is referenced and slightly shown on one of the TV shows in GTA IV and it's exactly the same (Seems like they used screenshots or in-game footage to show it), this could also be applied to the Carcer City shown in Manhunt, perhaps it's the same. GreenOnions
Yeah, I think it's more likely than not that 3D-Carcer City and HD-Carcer City are technically different places, but the overall atmosphere is probably similar for both. (Ala the HD versions of Liberty City & Los Santos). From what hints we've gotten so far, it sounds like a really dark, depressing sort of place--a dying American industrial town in the "Rust Belt." I feel like we're more likely to see a spin-off set in Carcer City than a full-fledged GTA game. As you say, a prequel dealing with Michael & Trevor's bank-robbing days seems plausible. Or maybe Carcer would be just one of several cities in a future GTA game. But the city itself just seems a bit too dark, too colorless, too humorless to carry an entire GTA game by itself. (Don't get me wrong, I love a complex story/set of characters in GTA, but I want something that I can smile and laugh at too).
lolznc
I don't know if we will ever see Carcer City, but if I'm honest I very much doubt it is as troubled as it is in Manhunt. Carcer in Manhunt was an 'extreme case' of a Rust Belt city, so I expect the HD city is much more like Detroit is IRL
Mr. Someguy
Isnt Carcer City Philadelphia ? It's an extreme caricature of crime-ridden rust belt neighborhoods in cities like Philadelphia PA, Camden NJ, and Detroit MI. B Dawg
If we ever get to play in Carcer city, the protagonist will probably be 'Incarcerated' and you'll have to break out.
