WrongAgainNoobs
Okay, seen a lot of complaints since the PC release, I will give you a big tip, guaranteed to help most of you. But not everyone, I'm sorry if not :'( Latest patch is great. Game runs 60FPS flawless except it still dips. If not, or if you are experiencing random dips in FPS, try this: ALT+ENTER, twice. It will take you OUT of fullscreen, and right back in. Your FPS issues will be fixed (assuming your PC is healthy and up to par) It fixes much more. Including the "box of detail around player/square of detail" bug as well. Confirm it works, been telling people in game a while now, it will work for you if your PC is healthy/up to par because I waited to show others before making signing up to make a forum topic about it. You may notice that it BRINGS the "square of detail" bug, too. Just repeat the steps. Alt+Enter twice. Fixes many bugs. You may also notice it knocks the allignment of hud off (easiest to notice on radar/power bars/position of player arrow) - again, repeat, it'll be gone. If you get the "60fps, random drops and stutters to 30fps", do this it will fix it. This fixes many bugs, try for your bug. lydianduck
For me, the Alt+enter trick fixes the drops to 30fps in grassy areas but doesn't resolve the stuttering added in the latest patch. WrongAgainNoobs
Thank you for letting me know. Do you think it's the processor related? it cannot be your 680 nor can it be your ram, it's speed is right. I have the same ram and only a 960 but 4590 i5, and if it were ram (seen people talking about that), it would take time to become like that. Tell me, did you ever defrag your drive before (assuming it's not ssd here)? Would you be willing to try guniea pig for it? Try this one use "optimize" option just once though, it'll be enough for the next year: http://www.auslogics.com/en/software/disk-defrag/ If you are worried about the age of your HD or anything, just "analyze" first and see if GTA V is in a lot of fragments. The game relies on being able to grab an archive and read it without too many reads being needed (one piece file better than 16 pieces fragmented) I do get the Ammunation frame drops btw, that's a legit patch issue, and also, do you get the same problems in single player? If people are hacking, it can cause bad host stutter. In SP and and in a "good host lobby" or whatever, I get smooth gameplay, rarely drop frames (but only after I do alt+enter) Edited July 17, 2015 by WrongAgainNoobs
Nick930930
Wow OP. You couldn't be any more wrong. The last patch RUINED the performance for almost everyone. It's not because our computers aren't "up to par." Stuttering and framerate drops were NOT present before 1.28 update. Me and my friends have very high end computers (980s, 780s, etc) and the game runs like total sh*t now. The box of detail bug also is not fixed with this "hotfix." Changing your vertical sync from on/off does the same thing, the issue reappears within 5 min Edit: just tested your "Fix" and it didn't do jack sh*t. Shadow box is just there, just like I knew it would be. Frame-rate still DROPS when you fire a minigun. So yeah. latest patch is NOT f*ckING GREAT Edited July 18, 2015 by Nick930930 GrandTeaRedemption
lydianduck
In his defense, this is what I used to do everytime when I started up the game and it'd solve those annoying fps drops in certain areas, but since the latest patch, there's stuttering and freezes even after alt+entering (the drops to 30fps are gone though). OP: im gonna try what you suggested and report back; btw, my HDD's are two western digital caviar black (one for the OS and the other for games) and I defrag them manually once every two weeks or so. oCrapaCreeper
Fixed nothing for me. Can't even maintain 30 on my 960 on the lowest settings possible in the graphics options. Driving goes into the single digits with constant micro stutters. Was a constant 60 occasionally dropping to 50 before the patch. My 1 gb 750 can run at 45-60 fps with grass set to high and water at very high and everything else at normal. WrongAgainNoobs
