hyperunknown
Hi. I have a problem with the built-in video editor for GTA 5 / Online.I have everything on ultra-setting in the game, and I export the videos with 60fps and the "High"-quality setting (which is the highest to choose from).Still, the video gets compression-artifacts. See image below;http://www.ironhorde.com/compression.jpgIs this really the highest setting? Seems like shἰt to me. When I record with OBS (Open Broadcaster), also to MP4-format, I get the full quality and color-range without compression just like in-game. // Jenn Edited July 15, 2015 by hyperunknown
RedDagger
Yeah, it uploads to youtube which adds pretty noticeable compression, the editor isn't the best for quality.
hyperunknown
Well I mean when exporting to harddrive - the actual Export function. That's not a YouTube upload, but a local one to C:\users\%username%\AppData\Local\Rockstar Games\GTA V\videos\rendered Even so, when I upload my videos I've made with OBS I still don't get that kinda shít compression ><
RedDagger
Oh, gotcha. Though if you've got it at the highest setting you can choose, then there doesn't seem to be a way to remove the compression the editor does - although it doesn't help if footage is taken when it's dark in-game, as the textures can get 'oily'. hyperunknown
I'm thinking maybe I can play the video, in the editor, without having the UI up, then i can record it with full colors.. So gonna have to try that
Solution hyperunknown Posted July 21, 2015 Author Solution Share Posted July 21, 2015 (edited) Fixed it! In the GTA editor, creating the clip as you want it, with the cameras, effects and all that, pressing 'H' will remove all the editor HUD. With that done, I can start the OBS recording in 32000 kbit 60fps full-range color, and when it's recording, I play the clip in the editor. Now, I have the GTA5/Online-clip in FULL quality without any MP4-sh*t compression. It's an extra step to take, plus I have to do some editing in Vegas afterwards, but so totally worth it.
