R* Free Money - Anyone Can Explain?

Sorry for the vague/misleading title. Unsure what to call this.

We've all read stories of people receiving free money/reimbursed by R* by submitting a ticket. But what if they just logged on and got the following message:

"Rockstar Game Services have corrected your GTA Dollars by $56250."

I also got a text message from Maze Bank telling me there was a bank error (seriously, can we change bank? They've been making bank errors left and right). I know I moaned on the forum about not getting a free t-shirt that came with completing the Daily Objectives (despite showing up as earned in the left hand boxes when the message pops up) but I never sent R* a credit, not once.

So what's worth $56,250? Why would I be getting this money despite not sending a ticket? Is that the price of the shirt and anyone who didn't get it despite doing their DO's just get that free money? Or is this a real bank error?

Thanks for any answers. I'm not complaining, just confused and still very poor.

I just got it also, I am guessing it's the 25% Rebate for the first vehicle purchased.

Mine was $555000.

I bought the T20 first.

Maybe you got the rebate back early? But that would be strange, that's my guess. But honestly it could anything. Did actually get the money though?

I'm guessing they're doing rebate distribution on a group basis. The first day or 2 buyers probably are getting their refunds today. Anyone who has just purchased 1 from today through the 19th will probably get it on the final date.

 

One large distribution to all buyers could possibly cause problems...

Except you originally bought that Adder for $1 million + upgrades, so your not as far ahead as you think. You lost on the resale of your old car.

Totally forgot about the rebate. Thanks guys! My first (and only) purchase was the Chino (70's muscle car). It makes sense now. I'm curious why they're making the rebate a thing. Is Social Club that dead or do they really want people to buy the new stuff?

His old adder holds no value if he doesn't want it and would rather sell it and in that case it's worth nearly 800k to sell and use toward something he wants. You don't exactly keep old sh*t you don't want anymore just because you'll "lose" money. You keep it and you're out the entire amount, you've lost all of it.

i received $550,000 as well when i booted up the game today. but my thing is, right after i downloaded the update i bought the T20 before doing any of those offers to sign up for the rebate, i only had a verified email nothing else. and now for some reason i got a rebate on it which i wanted to get on my Osiris purchase rather than the T20. can anyone explain?

I got that as well. May be a Rebate I heard and logging on just a moments ago and bought up by their alert.
