I am curious what everyone thinks about the timing of the rumored casino. I keep on hearing that it is coming with the release of each part of the "Ill Gotten Gains" updates. Yet it has yet to happen. Is it even true that they plan to add it? If so does anyone have any guesses as to when? If not then how do you think this rumor got started?

Even though I would love to have some gambling mini-games, I seriously doubt that it'll ever happen. Even if R* did make it happen, it would probably be as flawed as the current betting system is (ie. we both bet $10,000, I win but I only get $4,000 profit).

Oh story mode DLC would be amazing!

there was a bit of a leak by gta v oclock on their youtube channel last wednesday about about the announcement for the single player dlc.

so the casino might be used for that.

As for online, i doubt it

even if they originally intended to implement it they won't do it as it would be a far to high risk for exploiting and abusing it for getting huge amounts of money (resulting the cash card sales decreasing too much).

same with the stock market.

it would be possible in story mode though.

Can't see it for GTAO. Being part of a story mode is the only way I can see it being added. All for reasons that have previously been beaten to death.

Didn't somebody find animations for a possible Casino update?

 

Opening door models for the casino are as close as it gets, IIRC. People post 'croupiers' or 'wow omfg new NPCs' but they're just existing chef/waiter characters.

 

I simply assume R* likes micro transactions more than it likes letting players win big (legitimately or through the inevitable bugs/glitches), so there'll be no online casino (or stockmarket).

Personally I love golf in this game. But I am really seeing here that the casino only probably stands a chance in single player mode.

As much as I hate to say it You are probably right, however, to the nay sayers saying that it would be too open to cheating they don't grasp random events and gambling. PC might be the most prone to manipulation, but the simple truth is cheating is blindingly obvious with gambling and some of the cheating methods I've heard mentioned will take forever to work and all are so obvious that unless you are manipulating a redundant game (slots or black jack) then those you are cheating will be away in a flash and what you get is a fishing game. I see no reason NOT to bring the casino online (sorry for the double negative) as it will be a drain on resource not a gain unless you are good and patient. More over there are safe guards in place already. Just auto save to cloud when you leave a session. Money lost is money lost.

Agreed. rlr has forgotten one fundamental. GTA are games for consenting adults. Gambling is generally permitted from 18 and over.

I am pretty sure this isn't illegal. I think you are just breaking the TOS. It could be a civil matter I guess but I can't find a time when someone was sued over this.

Also some states in the US also ban it regardless of federal law. This is especially true with online gambling. However, this is not considered gambling as you do not receive a payout.
