Can't believe nobody's mentioned the Hawick reference yet? It's a border town in Southern Scotland. There a barbers shop called Hair on Hawick in Grand Theft Auto V. Also, you can hear random pedestrians pronounce it as Haywick when it's pronounced as Hoyk. Also, you often hear this term on the radio too whilst driving around, not sure which one.

For those of us who are fans of e.g. Dr. Who, Red Dwarf, The Goon Show (Bloon Bottle...McHarry McLegs), and The Men from the Ministry (and/or who have lived in Brit-influences countries), not all of it is lost. lol

 

Unfortunately, someone at R* is still stuck in junior high with their phallic and sexual reference obsessions. It gets old, real fast.

 

Examples:

"Apples" > Apples & Pears > Stairs.

"Dog" > Dog & Bone > Phone.

"Trouble" > Trouble & Strife > Wife.

 

And therefore "Bristols" .... You know.

 

Rhyming Slang makes so much sense. lol *cough cough*

 

Pig Latin +1; Rhyming slang 0.

 

But since we're on the topic of Brits, I think R*'s attitude can be accurately illustrated by the following: (lol)

Giro is an old slang term for benefits/welfare - IIRC wednesday used to be "giro day", when the cheque would come.
