Bati 801 - Batty Boi - Batty Boy = Homosexual Male

Oh sh*t, I've been laughing at Bati riders being called "Bati boys" for ages, but the 801 never occurred to me.

Anyway, apologies to the Irish for putting this in the "Brits" topic, but there's no way anyone across the pond will get this:

Love bawsack and whirlygig. I thought R* were from Dundee though? Don't think the Tay Bridge will look the same as the Forth though!

It all started in Dundee but by the time GTA3 was made they had studios all over the world. Thankfully though, they've never lost their roots. The bridge connecting Portland and the middle island (forgotten its name) looked a *bit* like the forth road bridge, but other than that I'm not sure. Tay bridge would just be dull lol (unless you mean the rail bridge).

Isn't the Forth Bridge in GTA: San Andreas (SF area to be precise)?

I know which bridge you mean, I'm pretty sure that's supposed to be the Golden Gate Bridge from San Fancisco.

The ones on the east side resemble the fourth Road and rail bridges.

@Ukeman5 You're probably right, but it's been over 10 years since I played San Andreas but it sounds more than plausible.

Oh and I just remembered seeing an add on a garage wall selling "Saul Tires" ages ago lol

As an American, I have no idea what 90% of these references are lol.

even as a brit, 90% of these meant nothing to me either lol

Sitting outside "Suds Law Laundromat" at the moment.

Edit: Oh and Fleeca bank has to be another one; the yanks can't even pronounce it properly. Hint: it's not Flee-ka!

IKR! I even have an English friend who (even though I've explained the joke to her) still insists on calling it "Flee-ka" -_-In game ads state it as Flee-ka, so Uwotm8?

Also, the commercials where Americans say British words: "I've never wanked much before..." We don't say wanking in the states.

Well, that's kinda the twist; see GTA is a satirical take on American life, as such they're (R*) are ripping the pish outta the American way of life. They poke fun at the Brits and reference them just as much too but, that's our humour, we like making fun of ourselves as well as others.

I don't recall ever hearing the game vocally pronounce it "Flee-ka" at any time but, I'll take your word for it. Either way, the joke is that the bank is fleecing you; as in, taking your money without your knowledge.

Do the first Fleeca Job Heist set-up ("Scope Out") and pay attention to what Lester says. At one point, he pronounces is "Flee - ka"

Personally (in my head at least) I would've pronounced it "Flee - sa"

That was my point, mate. The Tay bridge is hideously boring :D Glad they stuck to their roots too.

You're probably too young. A lot of the phrases have gone out of circulation. For example, no one calls a welfare cheque a 'gyro' any more and no one uses 'Bobby Dazzler'.

I really never noticed Bati 801!!!

I wish I could understand those jokes too, I'm curious about the chicken statue :/

There are two things that jump out about the chicken statue. One it's a cock. On a bell. Bellend.

It also has a cone on its head which is a reference to a statue in Glasgow Scotland of Wellington, which has a cone on its head for years. It is now officially apart of the statue.

The horse looks like a unicorn that was deemed too hazardous for EU standards.

It's over Lester's head, too.

Clearly it's supposed to be "Flee-sa"

Bati 801 - Batty Boi - Batty Boy = Homosexual Male

I was about to say that.

Never noticed that, LOL.

There's a female NPC on her phone apparently talking to her landlord. She complains about the "wuah-tah" and has to repeat it several times (and gets increasingly more frustrated) because the other person doesn't understand her. She comments that no one ever understands her when she says it. Then she references "the 'loo" and repeats it several times before simply hanging up the phone.

Funny thing is that the unicorn is Scotland national animal or something

A lot of you are like that from what I have seen. You need to look outside your country a bit more and experience all the new flavours of ice cream. I got most of these already and my country couldn't be any further away in terms of culture than it currently is. :)

I like when the host of 'Non-stop Pop' explains that 'sea' means 'ocean' in between the songs. I thought both words were commonly used differences with the same meaning, but I guess not.
