Online character got stuck in storymode limbo

I was swapping between my 2 online characters and it has the usual problems of joining a new session so I get kicked to offline, only this time I discovered my online character was in storymode!

 

I couldn't store any pics from the game's phone despite deleting some they weren't deleted from R*'s servers, and I only managed to get a couple with my real phone of things that don't exist in Online:

 

 

 

 

It was a very weird limbo place, the game's phone was that of Online yet the menu you get from the Start button is from storymode, couldn't call any of the contacts, so no mechanic / pegasus etc.

Driving into LSC and Online property garages the doors just opened and no cutscene event happened, there were no markers on the map at all except for my own blip, and when I died after flying the big plane in the above pic I got stuck on a black screen with the loading circle in the bottom corner and had to restart the entire game, which is a shame because I wanted to explore the 'Twilight Zone' place a bit more.

This happened to me once when I tried to join a friend. they went offline and booted me from joining online completely

It's happened to me too. Especially when I have ps4 in rest mode and I leave online running it will be like I'm in story mode but not at the same time.
