Homing Missile not locking on attacking helis

i notice today my homing missiles not locking to helis. I only tried on turist helis and the heli with two miniguns on it. I thought my rockets would lock. I often find myself in small meatballs on Los santos streets when I travel with my beloved savage.

Is my fellow gamers more skilled with their rocket launcher have I the wrong settings?

I have my settings on target everybody, btw.

Man, I thought maybe, just maybe, that your title meant I was gonna get to see a bad ass video montage of you blasting players helicopters out of the sky with no lock on. Just straight up perfect shots.

It's not anything that you are doing. It's a bug brought on in the Ill Gotten Gains Update Part 2. Until Rockstar decides to fix this, it is going to stay this way.

I noticed my missiles don't lock onto civilian choppers and aircraft now

I couldn't lock onto anything today.

 

Not a NPC chopper, not a police chopper, not a player with a bounty.

 

It's basically a few extra shots of the original RPG at this point.

Homing Missiles (both shoulder fired and vehicle launched) now have new rules since ill gotten 2.

 

It really caught my friend and I ofd guard at first. I dont know if it is a bug or if it is intended but after some experimenting the new (current) missile lock rules seem to be as follows.

 

Again, this rule set seems to apply to ALL missiles. Including the homing launcher, buzzard, savage hydra and lazer. It may be a bug or an attempt at balancing. And, as such, may or may not change but CURRENTLY.........

 

1) you can no longer lock on to aircraft that are not ARMED WITH MISSILES. This means no civillian aircraft OR THE ANHILLATOR!

 

2) Missiles fired from air vehicles now lock on and track players in ground vehicles the same way the homing launcher does

 

Not sure if it will stay this way but that is how missiles are currently functioning. It is also worth noting that in the interactions menue, if you do not have targeting priority set to everyone your missiles will NOT lock on friends and/or crew members

I've been having the same problem, and made a thread about it yesterday which was moved to Help & Support. But I don't think it's my problem, I think it's a new bug. It happens with homing rockets on aircraft (Hydra, Buzzard, etc.) as well as with the homing RPG. Sometimes I just can't lock onto anything, no matter how my targeting is set.

I've had times that I was trying to lock onto a clearly non-passive Hydra and couldn't. Something is really wrong here and I'm not sure it makes any kind of logical sense.

A couple of friends and I were griefed by a person flying a Lazer last night. No one could get a lock. Even after disabling his first jet with heavy sniper fire, he re-upped at the base and it was the same story. Lagging all over the sky and no real recourse for my friends and I other than passive mode.

could the people with this issue please specify on which console they are playing?

it seems that this bug appears on new gen, but we have no confirmation yet.

does anybody have experienced this on old gen?

You will likely find that aside from an occasional glitch, new missile rules are consistent and exactly as i stated in my last post

Just yesterday someone locked onto my duster. Heard the beeps and everything. He fired but the missile hit the palm trees right by me. I have noticed strange missile behavior since igg1

I've been monitoring this as much as possible for a few days now. The only thing I haven't had a chance to do is test it with a friend so we can control all the variables. But I'm telling you, there are some weird glitches going on here that make it less than "100% consistent." Just yesterday I was in a Hydra, flying behind a complete stranger's non-passive, non-ghosted Hydra, and not getting a missile lock. My targeting is always set on Strangers or Everyone (usually the former). There was no noticeable lag going on, as he was not teleporting around. I've had the same inability to lock onto player-driven cars even when following them closely and when I can see that they're not passive.

 

And what kind of sense would it make to let us lock onto cars but not onto other flying vehicles..? Or to not allow locks onto the Annihilator? If this change was intentional, it was poorly thought-out.

^Wouldn't it depend from the fact that probably the Hydra owner had his weapons set to "Cannon"?

Meaning, you can't lock on unless they have missiles armed? If so, that would be incredibly stupid.

Yeah, nothing locks on anymore. Homing launcher doesn't lock on and nor do missiles from weaponized aircraft vehicles. I think rockstar messed this up with part 2 of gains.

I got owned by a buzzard yesterday and couldn't lock onto him with a homing launcher on foot at all. Couldn't even lock onto him with a hydra later on... It's totally stuffed up.

I have the hydra and savage. The only thing I can get a missle lock on is police choppers and vehicles. Other than that. Nothing, no planes, civilian or armored. So annoying. I'm flyin behind someone with a buzzard and can't get a missle lock, he even had a bounty. Not sure what's going on.

And yes it was on homing missiles.

Posted this already but..


It won't lock on to randomly spawned free roam air crafts. The lock on only works on air crafts that players own and call up from Pegasus.

i'm on ps4 and i'm experiencing the same issue - sometimes my homing launcher/jet and helicopter missiles will not lock on PVs and aicrafts, including jets/hydras/buzzards/savages, and it appears to be completely random. Any news on this? I transfered on Monday from ps3 and I never had this problem on old gen.

I haven't noticed this issue. I was playing for a few hours today and locked onto everything I took aim at. I hope this gets fixed for all of u though!

not true.

i steal randomly spawned buzzards very often and get locked on quite often as usual.

i also can lock on others as well.

i'm playing on ps3, maybe that's an new gen issue.
