Pat
I wish this was a joke. Hell, I'm still hoping it's a joke now, even though I know better. http://nintendoeverything.com/nintendo-president-satoru-iwata-has-passed-away/ http://www.nintendo.co.jp/ir/pdf/2015/150713e.pdf This is a huge blow to Nintendo and though I haven't kept up with their modern games, I still have a lot of respect for Iwata. I'm honestly scared to see where the company will end up after this. Edited July 13, 2015 by Pat Nico, UshaB, ten-a-penny and 6 others
ClaudX
I know that he was battling some illness for a while. While it was inevitable, I didn't think he would go so quickly. This made me remember Yamauchi's death, so that doesn't help. As for the company, I hope the new president doesn't take them down a road that they shouldn't take. Tchuck
Really shocked at this. 55 years old, too damn young. A president with real development experience and love for the craft is tough to find. I hope whoever replaces him continues the work, instead of simply appeasing the shareholders. RIP.

Wheatley
Iwata was also an expert programmer who saved various projects at Nintendo. He recoded PokeMon Gold and Silver to fit on a 2MB cart, playtested Melee when Sakurai was unwell, saved Earthbound by programming it himself when the games development was halted and ported the battle code of Pokemon Stadium to N64 without any reference documents. He was and always will be a true wonder in game development. Edited July 13, 2015 by Wheatley Sasuke Uzumaki, Ai®a©ob®a and Payne Killer

Iwata was an inspiration to many. He was one of my favorite public figures in gaming due to his upbeat, charismatic attitude and quirky humor. He honestly will be missed a whole bunch. Username.gta
I believe that one of the last things he stated was that Nintendo's next E3 conference would be better. Shame he never got to follow that up. Anyway, he seemed to be a man dedicated to his job, someone who has done a lot for the company. He will be missed. Rest in Peace.
