Why do people fire homing rockets at me when I try to destroy tanks?

Today I was in a public lobby with two tank trolls. The tanks were going around killing everyone. I figured that I would be doing a good deed by getting rid of the tanks with my Hydra because let's face it, people hate getting killed over and over again by tanks. After all, isn't that why the tank got nerfed in the first place?

 

However, when I approach the area where the tanks are, people start aiming their homing launchers at me.

 

Now why would they be trying to take me out instead of the tanks? Aren't I doing them a favor by getting rid of the tanks? Is it because the jet is a bigger threat than the tank?

 

Also, out of all the weapons in their arsenal, why the homing launcher? Don't they know that each rocket is expensive, and that the homing launcher can't home for sh*t?

I usually avoid the the large conflicts cause people end up shooting people they're not supposed to/the wrong people. Best to let people lie in the bed they made.

I bust tanks whenever I see one and rarely get a homing launcher in return.

 

But hey, I approach tanks from the safest route called diving from 2000+ ft, and with tanks being so easy to bust, I can get right back out of homing launcher range before the explosive-happy 12-year-olds realize what is going on and switches to it.
