In the middle of a heist with randoms and friend keeps sending me invi

What would be the best thing to do in this situation?

I am posting this because I was doing a Prison Break finale with some randoms, and my friend kept sending me game invites. I was the pilot, so it's not exactly easy to message and fly at the same time. Now, I know you're probably thinking "Ditch the randoms and play with your friend", but these randoms were competent and doing a good job, and I didn't want to just leave them.

So anyway, I didn't want my friend to think I was ignoring him, so I tried to message him using my phone while still flying the plane. But while I was doing so, the jets shot me down with missiles. I felt bad for being the one to fail the heist.

Any idea on how I could have handled the situation better? What would you do if you found yourself in a situation like this?

I message them when I'm done doing what I'm doing. None of my friends expect me to immediately stop what I'm doing just for them. If they do have that mindset, that usually gets them deleted.

i ignore anything if i do not have the time for it....especialy if the randoms seem to know what to do....might make some new heist friends....and i never have a shortage of those

If you're playing with randoms and they're doing a good job, stay with them. Besides, your friend should already know that you're busy.

Use xbox smartglass to send a message with your phone. Even speaking to type so you dont have to let go of the controller all the way

Send something short and quick like "busy atm"

If they still send you invites after that then thats a pretty annoying friend.

Your friend has more than one way to see that you're playing a heist mission. A real friend (IMHO) is not going to be extremely clingy and demanding that you play only with him/her all the time.

If you agreed to play together at a certain time and you instead joined another team, that's on you. Otherwise, they should have some patience.

If you want to respond to them quickly without crashing, gain some decent altitude and level out your plane, hit the throttle for a bit so you've got speed. If your overlay (PSN for me) is quick enough, open up the message and respond by using a keyboard. I'm assuming this isn't for the PC, otherwise I'm sure communication would be easy?

This works well for me on PS3 anyway. I plug in a USB keyboard so I can quickly respond to things. In-game texts are pretty good and they don't slow everything down. Otherwise I'll try opening my ingame phone and calling them when I have a mic plugged in so I can talk to them without losing control of the plane at any time.

yes, finish your business, THEN reply.

I'd just ignore and finish the heist then message my friend to tell him I was in the middle of something.

If your friend actually got angry for you "ignoring" him for 5 mins or so, then that's a pretty sh*tty friend.

Moral of the story: Don't text and fly.

This message is brought to you by the San Andreas Flight School.

"Randumbs" are always competent right up to the point that they're not!

ditch the trolls and play with your friends...

I ignore them until I'm done, if that friend is someone I play with frequently I would explain after the crap is done.

Not sure what you are asking here. Can you please post a pic of the vehicle in which you chose to start the finale? That will provide the needed info to properly answer your question.

I'm always either on Teamspeak or a proverbial Skype call.

If any friends are online, they'll turn up and I'll tell them if I'm busy and ask them to wait.

Simple fix.

Hmm, you can't get invites when you're already doing the heist/setup. So, in order for you to have noticed they are inviting you...you must have ignored the invite while you were in a lobby. That would have been the perfect time to send off a message to your friend, "hey man, give me a bit...finishing up a heist."

EDIT: How did you know they were sending you an invite? Would it feel wrong if you put off the invites for a few minutes to complete the current heist and then get back to your friends?

I still want to know how did you know they were inviting you?

Your friend can't send the "message through the console menu" invite when you're in a heist?

An invite to a game session/lobby can be received at anytime (it pops up on the top right as a message), wether you're in freeroam or currently on a job. What you're talking about are pre-lobby invites, which are invites that pop up above your minimap as a notification when you're not in the middle of a job.

I think you may be confused. Anybody can send you an invite to their game regardless of what you are doing on your console.

PS app does the same thing as Smartglass.

When i sign online and start playing i normally hit the Ps3 button and see what friends are doing because normally it will say GTA ONLINE Mission, Heist, race ect.....

I will send out one invite to them for when the job they are on is over ....i send no more unless they ask by message or phonecall........I ask my friends to do the same for me, respect what i am doing and not spam me with invites.......anyone who does, gets removed from my friends list pretty damn quick
