Trash_Ok
Hello everyone, I just managed to repair the performance issues caused by the recent update. This fixed all micro stuttering while driving, ammunation huge fps drops and basicaly stabilized the game - believe me I know it works because after fixing it it just can't be compared to my yesterday's online session full of stutter, drops and lag. The actual problem is between the update and the latest NVIDIA drivers, so this fix is not for AMD users. So what you need to do is go here : http://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/3698 Choose your OS, download the latest Hotfix driver 353.49, no need to clean install just go with express (that's what I chose), install it and start the game (no restarts needed either) After installing this, all the performance issues are GONE, at least for me. Tested it for an hour both Single Player and Online, went to ammunation, everything is smooth, no settings were changed, 60 fps everywhere. Yesterday I started Online and it immiadetely started to stutter, couldn't drive properly, and in ammunation fps dropped to 5fps right as I entered. Let me guys know if it works for you. My setup just in case : GAINWARD GTX 750ti 2GB 8GB RAM DDR3 i5 4460 3,4Ghz K20

Nick930930
Can anyone else confirm that this helped with their nvidia card performance for GTAV? Not about to just download a random file unless I know it's actually a good idea. I generally have bad luck with beta drivers. Anyone remember the beta nvidia driver that made the snow in Battlefield 3 yellow... oooh good times lol Edited July 11, 2015 by Nick930930
ishraq22
it worked but hardly. im still having stuttering while shooting with minigun and anyother rifle. Stuttering near micheal's house and eclips tower . those are still present. i lost like 5 fps in these areas. and other than these i get steady 60.. it also goes down while driving very high speed. so this is not a very good solution bro. my rig is GTX 970 , i7 4770 ,16GB MEMORY. btw did u restart your pc after installing the driver and any graphic settings changes that can make the rest of the problems go? What realy bothers me is that my FPS goes down to 45 in grass areas.
Craigsters
I found out AMD had two updates a catalyst control center update and a chipset drivers update for Windows 8.1, see image where I pointed where the separate link download in green font is or you'll have to go to AMD site and play with pull down menu's if you mess it here are the cards the chipset drivers update effects GTA V PC was among the games this update said would be covered or improved by the updates Edited July 11, 2015 by Craigsters Jenia and gunziness 2 "You don't understand! cp1dell
Yeah I don't really see how much of an impact this would have, since the driver hotfix literally only lists a fix for Sony Vegas crashes. With AMD folks having the same issue, it's definitely something on Rockstar's end. This isn't the usual "varying performance experience" with the new patch like every other time. Almost everyone gets this problem, strangely when you're being chased by the police, and the fact that Rockstar is acknowledging it this time says something. Trash_Ok
I'm sorry to hear it doesn't work for some people. But I also got some responses that it does so it's weird. Still playing the game right now, no problems at all. I am not making stuff up, just wanted to share.

The driver lowers the stuttering significantly. And makes the game playable again for me. I guess its just because R* Devs tested on this driver. Also nevermind the FPS drops I mentioned previously they are because I set my Grass quality to Very High Edited July 11, 2015 by XenoxX

Teletesselator
Installing the new 15.7 AMD drivers seems to have a similar impact as what is being described by the OP for NVidia. It's much improved but still stutters way WAY too much. Edited July 11, 2015 by Teletesselator XenoxX

Craigsters
my GTA V crashed on launch of the game after the catalyst control center update and a chipset drivers update, so I did a system restore to yesterday evening before the AMD updates I did a half hour ago!.. The system restore worked, because on Windows restart, AMD catalyst control center prompted me with updates, which I skipped and then I relaunched GTA V and it launched with no CTD, but had the same driving FPS, lag stuttering and Ammu-Nation store had the same FPS, lag stuttering issue too!.. I added to my Rockstar support ticket that there was a catalyst control center update and a chipset drivers update but they both caused the game to crash on launch of it to my ticket with them!.. El Dorado
For starters, if you don't have a 900 series Nvidia card, you better stick with old drivers. Nvidia it's doing "business" promoting Witcher 3 and 900 series cards, they are literally capping older GPU's. That's why a 960 outruns a 780ti in that game, do a quick search on their forums to know more details. And of course, this affects other games too. I somehow dont want to believe that...thats an absolute dickish move. Factualy my 780 should still be better than a 970 and even allmost as good as a 980. If NVidia want to lock my Graphics card...dear god f*ck them
Loudy
Nope still the same, last patch borke the game for me. Used to have stable 75-80 FPS with a Gtx980 now it's 50-60 with dips to 30 and sub 20...

Trash_Ok
Some people on reddit reported they've noticed a difference but it it didn't fix it entirely. So that could be a case for some of you too. Either way, it seems to at least lower the presence of the stutters a bit, while for some it fixes everything. Craigsters
I re-ran the catalyst control center update and chipset drivers update and made sure both steam and my game was closed before doing so and this time GTA V ran without CTD on launch, but the updates made no difference, the FPS, game lag and stuttering was still there both with driving and in Ammu-Nation store Edited July 11, 2015 by Craigsters "You don't understand! blackroseMD1
I was running the hotfix drivers and still having issues. Of course, I didn't uninstall and reinstall after updating from W10 build 10162 to 10166, so I'm going to do that now and see if it helps.
EvilDog77
It seems to have significantly lowered the stuttering for me, but the occasional lag spikes do remain. a much better experience than before I installed it. I had a good long session tonight with little stuttering and no crashes at all. GTX 980ti here. Edited July 12, 2015 by EvilDog77
lydianduck
This didn't work for me, damn, I was at 60fps locked 100% of the time before the first ill gotten patch (with a combination of high and very high settings -no msaa), now it has this mini-freezes constantly. I hate rockstar right now, XenoxX
lpgunit
Tried the hotfix myself, and while it did cure the stuttering issue, it was at the cost of somewhat lower framerates, or at least that's what I experienced with GTAO.
