Living with a 6 car garage, while owning 10 cars

I've got 3 full 10 car garages, but I really feel like moving into a more remote location, away from the squeekers. A lot of these cars, I will never sell so I don't mind them putting into storage as long as I can still call them up.

 

Im curious who else has done this, and what their experiences are doing this Can you for instance, still switch posititions in the garage between the visible cars, and the cars instorage? What car positions in the 10 car garage go into storage and what positions will still be garage spaces in the new one? Stuff like that

The first 6 cars in the list of your top apartment when you call your mechanic is the cars that will appear in your 6 car garage, the rest will be put into storage AFAIK

Rockstar have made this worse than it was (surprise!) because you used to be able to choose from (Storage) cars in races and at the beginning of Heists, but now you cannot. Unless they changed it back with IGG2, but I doubt it.

 

You cannot move cars from "storage" using the garage re-arranger. You don't get the option to swap cars into these slots if you drive a new PV in there either.

 

I have a 6-car in SS and one by the PacStandard bikes, it's annoying as hell to have 8 cars that I can only access via Johnny Onthespot.

Also, cars in storage can't be selected for races, so be careful not to put cars/bikes that you never drive in free roam but that are useful for races (let's say, a Sadler and a Gang Burrito for example) in those spots.

FWIW I end up buying a 10-car garage every month or so just to shuffle around some of the 6-car garages. Of course this is R* so my "Moving Day" award is broken...

 

If you're looking at your 10 car garage from the front (doors) towards the back (gym), the 4 closest cars on your right hand side will be the ones going into storage.

Just bought a place along Route 68, kinda wish there was a 6 car place in Grapeseed. But a 2 car garage is just not going to cut it....

As soon as the third property slot was available I purchased a house in Paleto Bay, however recently I replaced it with a 10 car garage as I thought I could use some space.

So I moved 4 cars that don't really fit in with the style of my other two garages, then once I was happy with how they were I moved back to Paleto Bay.

 

Here is a couple of things to note:

-Once the vehicles are in storage you can not replace them by buying new vehicles.

-You can only rearrange the cars that are visible in your garage

-The only way to access them is to call the mechanic and it will say (Storage), you may also use them in races.

Just two days ago I downsized to the PacStandard bikes appt. too. So now I have that, along with a 10-car garage at the airport and a Tinsel Towers apartment.

 

I sold a couple of cars but then there were a couple that were worthless and I couldn't be bothered waiting for the clock to run down to sell them. Not realising they would still be hanging around on the list, I left them and went ahead with the move to the 6-car garage. Now I kinda regret it so I might go back to a 10-car garage and get rid of those, then move back.

 

I really do enjoy the interiors of the smaller garages.
