Sticky bomb on car, insurance question

Let's say I put a sticky bomb on the hood of my PV. Another player shoots the sticky bomb and my PV exploded. Who is responsible for the insurance in this situation?

No he pays for the car if he shoots the sticky bomb. I have personal experience. This guy was driving towards me in a T20 and I shot him through the windshield with the marksman pistol. He must've been holding a sticky bomb because when I shot him his car blew up and I was out 27k :(.

Really? Hmm, interesting. Anyone else have experience with this? I got two different answers  .

That must of been funny as hell, even at a 27k price tag, I would still think such a shot was worth it.

That's what I thought originally. I'm gonna have to try this.

I don't think they pay the 27k. I had someone blow up my T20 earlier and they only paid 6 thousand something. I got the message saying that the player destroyed it and that he paid the Full $6,200 something (when they don't have enough money to pay the full amount it says they paid however much money towards the replacement, and it never says "Full"). So for whatever reason it never charged him the full 27k

That'd be a feat, given that the maximum amount you can place is 5.

He probably only had 6K in the bank.

I can confirm that this happens to me all the time and I end up paying for the oblivious c*nt driving around holding a bomb in the air. smh.

There was also one time when I threw a sticky bomb at a helicopter that was on the ground and it detonated because the helicopter's rotor hit it. I think there was a PV nearby and I got credit/fined for it all.

What? Why did you blow up? If they were AFK in a car, they can't have been holding a sticky bomb and you're in the wrong thread.

Ok, it sounds like whoever "triggers or causes" the explosion is responsible to pay.

I think so, but the drive-by sticky bombs and my helicopter anecdote are sort of inconsistent in that respect. I mean, the helicopter one was totally my fault (although I didn't intend for the bomb to go off - and may never have detonated it because I often stick bombs like that for insurance later on, just in case the other player turns on me), I still threw it and now I know that helicopter blades are capable of triggering bombs.

But if somebody is holding a sticky bomb, or has even already thrown it, and you shoot it, there is no way that you should be held responsible. It's not like you were aiming for the bomb and this state of affairs only protects idiots who are stupid enough to drive around with a bomb held above their car.

Those of us who are wise enough to not do this, and who - if we were to use sticky bombs in this way - are competent enough to propel them accurately without having to aim the throw for such a length of time, should not be the ones who suffer. But as usual, R* gets it backwards and protects the morons who do moronic things.

The other backwards thing about bombs is that R* nerfed sticky bombs so that they disappear when you plant them and then move too far away from them. However proximity bombs (which are obviously a more advanced weapon) not only aren't applied with this same constraint, but they remain indefinitely - even after you die! smh.

Yes the shooter pays the price.

The same thing happens in Contact Missions against NPCs:

If you drive your car at an NPC with a Stocky Bomb in your hand/out of window......

If the npc(s) shoot the bomb, causing you & your car to blow up, your not charged.

shooter pays someone threw a sticky on my car and nothing, not liking the idea driving around with explosives on my car I decided to get out and shoot the bomb. I got stuck with the bill.

Usually when I see my car's imminent demise I take off as quickly as possible in some other transport and request personal vehicle for a fresh new copy.

I sit at the window of my apartments all the time with a sticky on the side of my Insurgent, just waiting for people to happen by.

I love the T20 for this! If you want to blow up my car go ahead, but just know that I'm costing you money in the end.
