Driving away in deathmatches

I do it when the other team is obviously running scripts and using glitches to rack up cheap kills. Cheat and I will make you chase me all over the map until the timer runs out.

Around the time of this games release I was once put up against a clan. At the start everyone on my team left but me. The DM was set at the motel. I managed to play it smart and got a good headstart (I was like 7 kills 2 deaths).

 

Then I just snuck away, I grabbed a passing car and drove off. I then setup a sniping position at the outskirt of the motel and waited. Eventually they would get tired of searching for me and leave the motel, where I would pick them off. It got pretty damn cool, it was like Wolf Creek. I could drive off to some place miles away and when I was comfortable I would slowly approach the motel and pick the off from afar, they had no idea where to look.

 

This is one of the reasons I haven't played a single deathmatch, and because people are such poor sports.

That sounds a bit extreme, this kind of behavior rarely happens. You can always turn off traffic if you host your own.

Ohh lol, I know but I'm not very good at killing other players regardless, and I usually just assume they have the upper hand so I prefer to work as a team instead of against others as I'm a passive player 90% of the time.

Whenever my friends *force* me to play a DM, as bad as it sounds, I drive away the first moment I can. I'm not one for DM's, especially when everyone uses nothing but heavy shotguns. I just camp out on a nearby rooftop and wait for the match to end. I'm not preserving my K/D (that's already ruined), I just don't like how nobody even tries to be good with weapons anymore. They always grab the most OP thing they can find, then camp in a spot where they can auto aim onto you but you can't even see them. I remember in GTA IV online, you had to make do with what you had, and THAT was fun. I don't support when people get some kills then run away, that's just stupid. If you're going to play a DM, play fair. But if you're forced into it and don't want to fight, by all means, either leave or run away.

I do it every time, run as hell. I only start/join this DM for my daily objectives, I hate DM but R* force me to do them. Same for LTS, Capture.

for dm and tdm you don't have to actually play them to complete your daily obj.

just join them and wait for the "betting screen" where you can buy armor after host started the dm and then just leave (by clicking on circle on ps).

this doesn't work for captures though.

 

 

I joined a friend's session but they were mid-way through a DM so I left. As soon as I landed back in free mode it said I completed an objective - Take part in a Death Match - even though all I did was spectate a DM for like 5 seconds.

Sounds like a bitch move tbh and wouldn't do it myself. I come from FPS games so used to boundaries in my game modes and that's why it's never even crossed my mind to run away out of the actual zone of a TDM/DM on this game.

 

I mean if it is a 3v1 and it's not fair im getting wrecked I'll just quit out no harm done but to use run and hide tactics is not really my scene. It's like a lot of players on gta seem to always need to use some unfair advantage to beat another player or just plain troll others. It's something I'm still getting used to as not really encountered this much in the FPS scene guess just shows a lot of kids play gta lol.

I would rather take the no pay and bad sport then do the mentioned "tactic". I mean I would hate it done to me so in turn would not do the same to others. I believe in respect and honour even if it's just a video game after all.

Am I right in thinking that if you move too far away from the main area where the deathmatch is taking place that you always appear on the radar until you come closer to the action? I've never experienced someone driving off before but quite a lot of the time I'll see people move out of the immediate area where the match is taking place (presumably to try and get a sniping perch) but when they do that they always seem to be on the radar for me even if they just appear to be standing still?

Man, a real shame. I've gotten into some really tight deathmatches lately, really close. The other team goes up by 3 and they pile in a car and just drive off, 5 minutes to go.

 

I send mercs, but what's the point? They head to the mountains.

 

A real shame. This has been happening multiple times,and during really close dms. Those are the best kind! And then they go and spoil it at the end.

 

Tell me you guys don't do this... Say it ain't so!

 

Yes, cowards that need a win real bad do that. There should be boundaries like in the Survivals so people stop doing this.

This only happened once before. I was playing with people I usually play with, and someone on the other team drove off because he wasn't "as good at PvP".

 

We were at the Construction site and they went all the way to Sandy Shores. So I drove up there and killed him, then drove all the way back.

^This is why game devs need to treat their games like day care centers....for children.

 

They need to child proof EVERYTHING..

 

 

There can be a huge play area... but without a fence. The kiddies are out in the middle of the street playing traffic instead.

 

 

Sadly... R* did this with most PVP game modes.. and forgot to do it to one. And without a fence.. well. I think you pointed out what happens.

That's not really what I'm on about. I'm talking specifically about entire teams going up by one or two kills, and taking off.

 

Also, while setting traffic off helps, there are certain maps that spawn cars in the map. Like mansion. I now (thanks to these responses) always set traffic off, but it's not a guarantee.

Why should you be penalized because your teammates douched out on you, though? The other team still wins, you just get what you deserve (and possibly less since you might have done better had your team not abandoned you). The other team should have the respect not to slaughter a woefully outnumbered opponent, but that's not likely to happen, so take care of yourself.

I've done this pretty much every time I've unintentionally joined a scam deathmatch

 

I wait for everyone else to leave, get 1 more kill than the host then drive to the military base and glitch into the control tower

I then spend the rest of the match Texting them things like "Who's getting scammed now?" or "This didn't go the way you expected, did it?"

For best result, play with a host with a mic

 

But anyways I also hate when people do it in legitimate deathmatches its such a cowardly tactic, why I restrict my use to scam DMS only

I do it in Vehicles DMs and Single ones as I don't want to fight, just there for my objective. I'll get a kill or let him get one, then flee until the 5 mins are up

Me and my crew have done it when we're doing tdms and the assholes on the other team spam rockets amd throw c4. If someone's gonna be cheap we'll take the lead and play cheap ourselves

Ah, happened again yesterday, but with a happy ending.

 

Playing on the maze, 3 v 3. Down by 2, 3 minutes left, and the other team is nowhere. Lester, reveal players... Holy sh*t they're far away and driving faster.

 

I'm on the mic, and yell at my buddy to follow them. He gets in a sports car and flies.

 

They had no idea he was coming. Sticky, boom, suicides and took all three out. They spawn back in, where we proceed to absolutely annihilate them. I was booming hard in the mic, it felt like "lux aeterna" was playing in the background.

 

"YOU THOUGHT YOU COULD PULL THAT sh*t ON US? WE ARE EVERYWHERE! TASTE YOUR COMEUPANCE! YEEEES, IT TASTES JUST LIKE A GRENADE! WOOPS, THIS TIME IT TASTE LIKE A CARBINE RIFLE!"

 

It felt so glorious. Ended up getting like 8 kills in that last minute, winning the deathmatch, taking their bet money, and hopefully, their souls.

 

At the standing screen, all 3 voted thumbs down.
