Progeekzy
And why? How much of this current map is actually used? 5 percent? 10? Well over half of the biggest map we have ever had is complete fluff. And so many of you cry for a even bigger map. WHY? We dont use what we have now. I would MUCH rather a smaller detailed map with interiors and activities then a bigger map thats just more fluff. Slam_Jones
A procedural map (a la Minecraft) that simply stretches to infinity. Which won't happen, but it's good to dream. (Only half serious about that) But while bigger is better, diversity is best. I just want a map where you can go to a forest and really feel like you're secluded. Or a desert with no roads anywhere in sight. The kind of map where you can explore for hours and not run out of content. For me (fanboys of IV will hate this) having an entire map that's nothing, but, say, a city, is f*ckin lame as hell. Why have 20 square miles of the same thing? That's one of the main reasons SA and V are my favorite GTAs. Liberty City is cool, or whatever, but it's just boring as f*ck. No open fields, no hills, nothing interesting at all. Blech. But basically, just a lot of more. As for the why, well, I personally like making races/DMs/etc, and having more land to work with is always nice. Especially when the current world has been basically used 100% Edited July 10, 2015 by Slam_Jones lolznc, Fuzzknuckles, Nicky_Sierra and 2 others
Fuzzknuckles
I'd like the same size map as we have now, with the same kind of variety, but with the interiors. They don't need to reinvent the wheel, an infinite map would be silly. Just a big map with lots of stuff to do in it. The V map is huge and it can take a while to get around it, even longer to get to really know it. It's the ideal size, IMO. What some regard as fluff, I'm guessing things like the canyon, I see as some of the best and most artistic areas of the map, very realistic and beautiful, considering it's a video game. Even on PS3, it looked amazing. Without those sorts of areas, the world would feel as unnatural and fake as San Andreas did. Ezza., CanOdope, Smith John and 3 others 6 Signatures are dumb anyway. Progeekzy
By fluff i mean, theres only about a billion buildings with zero purpose besides being a box that looks like a building. There is PLENTY they could add into this game without adding any map. Make it so we can buy some of the buildings out there? Theres enough of em ot doing anything already. Let me sink my money into something. Bring back some of the stuff from IV, such as shooting pool. Put more into trevors company. Heck, have franklin go to the wedding at the end. You cant open up a church? They can add hours and hours and hours of game play without adding any map. We dont need more map, we need more stuff to do in the map we already have, Marty892 and CanOdope

evoluon--720
The map in GTA V was perfect. Could've been more inner city though. I imagine if they ever go back to Liberty City (and they will), I just hope they really give it that congested feel New York City really has. Like packed sidewalks and a whole lot more skyscrapers. I prefer an immersive map over a big one slimeball supreme
Lethal Vaccine
Considering I am 100% fine with the way GTA III's map was and how big it was, I don't care about map size. I rather a small map with compacted details in every corner instead of open nothingness like in V. I don't like big maps, tbh. I rather a small map with more memorable details. lolznc
Nah, I feel V was a good size for me map wise. Perhaps a small extension to feature a bit more city, and denser forests one can get lost in, but they aren't major issues for me. Anyways, I like to laugh when people say that most of the map isn't seen during the story blah blah blah. I've used V for exploration more than any other GTA game, and I love the mountain scenery that everyone moans about (psst guys, there are mountains around LA anyway). Then again, my love of Vice City says map size isn't an issue, although I hope VI isn't set in just a city without countryside a la IV. I imagine if they ever go back to Liberty City (and they will) *sigh* Slam_Jones and CanOdope
GtaFanatik
10x bigger than the current one Are you dense? With RAGE it's impossible due to it's sh*tty compression. "Compression" is a drawback for modders, not for them. They created Rage engine. They have the SDK, GDK or whatever is called to modify it. Remember that V's Rage engine is based on IV's one, and things that are posible in V (from graphics things like ambient oclussion, lens flare, dynamic FOV, HDR, full world reflection to gameplay like clothes simulation or physics) are not posible in IV without a proper SDK. To the OP: belive or not, I use the full map. I get my Kuruma and I start driving from LS to Paleto Bay, Alamo Sea, Mount Chilliad Forest and Mountains, etc. Storywise is true: we used 20 or 30% of the map. But in freeroam? I know almost every corner of the map. And I love it and I personally would'nt like anything bigger than this, I just want Watch Dogs model quality (that game, even with all those downgrades, had the most detailed city I ever seen in a game). Probably there will not be a new GTA for last gen consoles, and that means that R* will focus in CG consoles and their good amount of power, resulting in a better, denser map with the same size as GTA V's one. At least I hope so. Heists
A.O.D.88
Northern San Andreas and San Fierro added to the current map would be perfect! CanOdope, Slam_Jones, TheOneLibertonian and 1 other
lolznc
Northern San Andreas and San Fierro added to the current map would be perfect! I hesitate to agree - on paper it would be awesome, but the game already struggles at times on consoles and a massive addition like that would probably downgrade graphics for console, which I really don't want to happen. I'd prefer Northern San Andreas to feature in a title of its own with new characters and a different atmosphere. thunderlight01
Marty892
Northern San Andreas and San Fierro added to the current map would be perfect! There's no even slight chance for that. They could easily release it as GTA 6 then. Along with map, they would also need to add pedestrians, cars, radiostations and more. That's way too much content for a dlc. IMO the only map addition possible for V is North Yankton.
TOOMtheRaccoon
I think the problem with bigger maps and more cities are: In San Andreas was the view/draw distance very low, with the huge draw distance of GTA V you need about twice the vertical map size so that a second city like SF not seem to lie too close to LS. This means there should be a lot of more details around the streets nobody would notice and you would drive endlessly from a to b. Maybe sometime a GTA gets a bigger map but it must be filled with details otherwise people will complain, but they will ever complain. If you cruised for the thousandth time from LS to Paleto Bay it will begin gradually to annoy. Imo map is huge enough or you need faster planes. lolznc
Imo map is huge enough or you need faster planes. Faster planes isn't too hard, in V they are far to slow or they would cover the map in about 10 seconds at full speed, especially for the Lazer

Progeekzy
the entire estate of san andreas or another location with an airport to fly, not a airfield, because flying in this game is so pointless And, again, what exactly should we fill that place with? More random peds and cars for the sake of having peds and cars? And should we have this place just so we can fly there? Is is rockstar going to create this extra map and fill it with missions? Ya, it might be nice to bring back old maps that we can go to and drive around and stroll down memory lane, but really. whats the point? Unless there going to take the time and fill them with stuff to do, its just going to be a big empty map. And we already have a big map.

S1N0D3UTSCHT3K
i would have preferred waaaaaaaaaaay bigger forest and desert, even if it was empty of unique content and just copy/paste art and some random gang spawns that took a day or two to develop just put it off to the sides so it doesn't increase mission/story travel times and at least we have more raw square milage to explore and drive while free roaming after the story ends lolznc and saintsrow

The Dedito Gae
the size of V was fine, the layout, not so much, too many rocky terrains and mountains, beneath the Grand Senora there's such a huge unusable country side that woulf have been perfect for a badass desert. The forest should hsve been bigger saintsrow
