V doesn't feel like a proper GTA.

Anyone else here feel the same way?

To me V just didn't feel like a proper GTA. No Vigilante, are you f*cking kidding me? This was a HUGE factor in making GTA feel like a crime game.

Another thing is that, in previous games you felt as if the protags weren't the only criminals. Especially in IV, where you felt that Niko was just a tiny speck in the vast criminal network of LC.

In V the three protags are like 'Too big for da police'. Everything they plan goes well wuithout any problem. Feels like these three are the only criminals in Los Santos.

Anyone else felt like this playing V?

GTAV does feel "watered down" in terms of story and characters. You're description of it sort of reminds me of the coca cola version of the gta world.

It's GTAForums man. If you don't share the opinion of the critics here, you're automatically a fanboy. I'm used to it. ;)

I guess this is the best defence you could come up with for your precious V?

V is an amazing game, it feels like a gta for me. And I like the leisures minigames too but they shouldnt have replaced the crime related activities, thats the main issue with the game for me.

When you finish the game you dont practically use your weapons anymore (apart from wasting a few magazines in trevors arms running missions), which is a real shame because the game provides a huge arsenal that you barely use. (Fighting the police dont count for me as its not 'canon' or an actual side-activity).

TRex is so fixated on calling everyone a fanboy that he can't even see a joke.

That is what this forum has become.

Sad.

Not bashing on IV but Niko a tiny speck? By the end of the game he single-handedly took out half (or more) of this criminal network.

In all honesty, barely any type of opinion is welcome. If you like the game then you're either tasteless or a fanboy, if you criticize it then you're a IV or SA fanboy or you're just complaining for the sake of complaining or you have no life, and if you simply state your requests or what you would have liked to have been included in the game then you're selfish.

I don't really have the patience to be civil anymore. The staff doesn't care obviously, the users don't care, threads like these start out good then turn into IV vs SA vs V vs this vs that and then spiral out into personal attacks and then get locked after nobody listens to the led-by telling everyone to calm down. And then it rinses and repeats the moment another similar thread opens.

Absolutely true. Had to quote the entire thing, since Forum doesn't let me delete half of the unnecessary comments attached to it. Working yesterday. Now it's not.

That's why I generally stick to the Special Vehicle Discussion Topics as not too many people even know what that stuff is and can't do it for themselves, thus less of a fan base and level headed people around. When it comes to the V Section and the GTA Series Section, this is all you see. I haven't been to the Online Section, but I can only imagine that being quite bad as well. Whatever is popular, the leeches will follow.

GTA IV is the biggest letdown in the entire series, and you all know it. Everyone around the internet, was making a bunch of hate threads about it (even more than GTA V) when it was released. So quit pretending like none of this didn't happen, because it did.

This is just wishful thinking if you ask me. I will be the first to admit you're right about what you said about IV, but to say it was bigger letdown than V ? I'm not so sure. They were either on the same level or V's letdown was greater. I say V's letdown was greater simply because it had much bigger expectations than IV, and the fact that many people still prefer IV and think it's better just rubs even more salt in the wounds. V was expected to blow IV out of the water and lets face it - V clearly didn't do that, and people think IV still topped it in certain areas and that's downright embarrassing. Also IV has experienced a resurgence in popularity and appreciation, on here at least and it redeemed itself very well with EFLC. Right now, V is still as it is, an average GTA title, nothing but bullsh*t powder-puff online updates and focus on MP which is nothing special anyway.

That the fact that you try to force this opinion through for everyone else to accept it with such conviction indicates to me that you're in some kind of denial and you have low confidence in what kind of weight this statement of yours holds. I don't mind you having your own opinion, but simply telling us opposing view holders " you all know it " is not gonna do a thing sway our opinions in line with yours. Going with a knife to a gunfight - it won't happen mister.

OG, you act like if a sequel is, in any way, lesser than its predecessor, that's a failure.

I don't understand why you think that. Care to explain?

You can quote Metacritic until your PC's motherboard finally melts and gives in. I couldn't give a sh*t about that. On a dedicated GTA site where hardcore GTA fans talk, this what holds more credibility to me the most. And let's face it, there are threads criticizing V coming thick and fast, like at least three or two every week, if not more - with each one created a by a new OP.

Not in every situation, no. In the case of V, I'd definitely say yes. I don't need to explain why as you have heard me say why in detail many times already, surely.

I mean, why? Why is that embarrassing? On top of different tastes, Sequels also do many things different. As long as they're not a rehash, which V obviously is not.

I always wondered if all the successors like IV,EFLC, and V followed in the exact same direction as VC and SA, would people critcize the series for the repetitive rehash? Or feel proud at the rich open-worlds?

You will be happy to know that when I'm not :

* At work

* Spending time with my family

* Chillin' at home

* Hangin' out with friends

* In the company of a woman

* Travelling somewhere exciting or interesting

* On GTA forums......

I am on my PS3 playing GTA IV and EFLC. I have nearly finished a third story playthrough on IV+EFLC in chronological order, been doing this for the past few months. I tried to play V on my PS4 a few months ago too, but I jacked it in, because I could not bear to go through that boring FIB stuff again, and the lack of crime side missions/activities just demotivated me quite bad. So, I turned to IV+EFLC again.

And hardcore GTA fans do 'waste' time on a GTA forum, because that's the whole idea of the forum in the first place - it's for dedicated big fans of the GTA series to discuss about it durrhhh :blink:

So it's not a waste time of time if one as a GTA fan enjoys being on a GTA forum is it ? Surely it is not. I think you need to wildly shake your head and hopefully spawn more brain cells in the process.

That's not necessarily what V's critics were asking for. We wanted V to be it's own game with it's own unique and distinct identity from IV and previous GTAs before it, but it should have and could have still easily achieved this by building and improving on the best things that were in previous GTAs, to make V an even greater GTA title than the rest.

V is a good game but it flopped with the way R* advertised it.

Like showing actual gameplay ?

Sorry but it did not "flop" it got to the most sold Video Game of all time.

And that in 3 days after release dude.

That's only hype in which it sold well, imo. Up until V, no matter what, I'd buy the next, new one. After V? I think I will wait months before buying anything new from them again.

The 'only hype' theory doesn't really work because it released on 5 platforms and sold well on all 5 lol.

You don't get to 50+ million by just hype.

In some ways, I still consider GTA V to be a GTA game. But it's true, Michael and Trevor are already set, Franklin is the only one that has to get himself to the top and make that money.

I don't think Trevor is set, not by a long shot! There's still a casino to pull a heist on, expanding TPI, and of course Karen!!

So no, Trevor ain't finished yet, heck he's just gettin started man.
