V doesn't feel like a proper GTA.

I hope this doesn't immediately escalate into a drama fight between Official General, Michigan, Osho, Midnight Hitman, Gamesboy, John Smith, PulpFiction, and Gerry of Rivia. And after a few pages later Son of Liberty abruptly archives it.

Yes,i'm in the list, i'm the worst this forum has to offer.

You´re surprised? Bro, you started a Trevor Philips appreciation thread in the IV section...you´re one of the meanest outlaws in the history of gaming. :p;)

Official General

Why would people get butthurt that GTA V made more sales than the other GTA games? Sales don't mean sh*t. If anything that's just a stupid reason on how GTA V is better.

I'm not sure how sales figures help the consumer anyway. If sales figures are judged alone then COD games are the best games ever made. The notion that anyone would be butthurt that GTA V has sold more than previous GTAs is laughable.

As for the question GTA V simply lacks a decent assortment of crime activities. It still feels like a GTA game, but with missing ingredients

But amazingly, someone allegedly super smart and intelligent like Geralt somehow believes the big sales = best game theory makes perfect sense. But it makes for great entertainment because it's very laughable to me too.

@ John Smith

I'm obviously a big GTA fan and I have a big interest discussing GTA games in general. If it means talking about V for two years then so be it, it don't matter if I criticise it, I still enjoy talking GTA. I'm also active in the IV forum too, not just the V section despite what some may think. I was on here long before V came out, it's not like I came here just to bash V.

Official General, answer me a simple question: Do you still have an interest in GTA V

Given the fact he browsers these forums 2 years later, he must.

nah look at Osho.

Some people realy are coming here to hate.

Because they are butthurt that R* made a hell of a lot more money off GTA V than any other GTA and probably is going to proceed with GTA V style and Online style games.

They have their rights to complain when it comes to the Online thing.

Did I EVER say that dont have the right....?!

I just tryed to imagine a reason why ANYONE would waste 2 years of time on a forum from a game which he hates...

It makes sense if you want the next game to be better... Besides, GTA V is the FIRST letdown for many. I'm not gonna leave the forum just for ONE letdown. The next game can always be better.

It can be better sure, for me personaly it wasnt a let down but I can understand the complaints of some people.

However "It makes sense if you want the next game to be better"

No it doesnt since R* doesnt waste its time looking on the forum for people who are hating/complaining about them...

They littraly do the ONE THING that brought them money, they are a buisness after all.

And GTA V was their biggest successor after the sales drop of IV, THEY were disappointed.

US $500 million from IV...

IV had less sales than SA this is why they were disappointed.

It realy was the only reason I could come up with...othewise they are mentally sick or something...

And yes to you Sales may mean sh*t but to R* sales figures decide what they do next.

Yes games like COD may have " good sales" but their sales also drop from year to year.

They are diminishing their brand by releasing a game every year.

Ubisoft has also ruined its reputation with all the broken releases and graphic scandals lately.

EA made the sh*ttiest company of the year award for the third time...

And then look at Rockstar Games..

Their sales rise every year. And thats because they partly agree with the "old" fanbase" and try to fully apeal to a "new" fanbase, they are rising and rising...

just look at their Facebook likes, they have more than ANY other company, same goes for YouTube subscribers and Twittch followers.

IV had less sales than SA this is why they were disappointed.

One thing we have to remember that IV came out early in the console adoption cycle, while SA (and V too) came out at the tail end of theirs. People were still tiptoeing around PS3 and 360 in 2008, just like there is a lot of people tiptoeing around PS4 and Xbone now.

But whatever, talking about sales is a dead end for any discussion anyway. V sold as well and is a popular as it is, because it played it safe. It's a shallow reimagining of both San Andreas and IV in one package, without the spark, depth and imagination those games had. And then Rockstar threw a quasi-MMO multiplayer mode on top of it and made sure it thrived. They just did what sells, no more, no less.

V isn't anything special, but it does its job and doesn't insult you, unless you're a hardcore fan of either of those old GTAs. It's like a fast food meal. A really good fast food, mind you, it's tasty, it fills you, but nonetheless, it's nothing to write home about, while old GTAs usually were fine meals. Based on your taste, you'd love them or be sick from them, but either way they were all memorable, special and made with heart. And to bring this post full circle, back to the sales, we all know how popular fast food is...

HOLD THE PHONE, did someone say GTA IV sold LESS than SA? GTA SA's last reported sales mark was around 24 million copies.

GTA 4 had 25 mil since 2013.

SA sold 27,5 million as far as I know.

Anyway, I'm glad it doesn't feel like a proper GTA, I remember people saying the same thing about IV so that just means... nothing lol. But yeah, it feels different from past GTA's and that's the reason why it's such a great game. They need to try to make each new GTA feel different. They archived that with IV and looking at this thread they apparently achieved that with V too. As long as they keep doing this the series will keep being successful. Now if they would go the COD way just to please a certain group of fans then the series would go to sh*t but it's R*, they know what they are doing. The CG versions are still selling incredibly well and the PS4 version might as well overtake IV's PS3 lifetime sales in the future, a remaster lol.

So yeah, I'm glad you think so OP.

Yeah, the sales may increase, but the quality is decreasing. 69 missions for three protags, with six scripted heists, O joy! And as it is most. of the V fanbase are the Online players.

GTA IV is the biggest letdown in the entire series, and you all know it.

Well that's quite subjective. GTA V was more of a let down to me than GTA IV was.

Really? I thought GTA IV was a letdown. It was good, but I was expecting more. I think one of the biggest reasons for why I was disappointed was that I was living near NYC at the time and the game layout didn't feel like NYC. It felt like a very empty shell of NYC at the time. Maybe I should play it again.....

I'm speaking from my internet experience. From what I saw of the years of GTA IV, people were disappointed with it.

Does it matter though? In this bloody discussion, does it matter?

Decreasing quality ?

Graphics, Cover Gameplay, Weapon cusstomizaion, Vehicle Customization, clothers, cars, everything has INCREASED in quality.

Even the Missions are way higher quality OBJECTIVELY, since a lot more resources went into them.

For me it didnt feel like a GTA just because i was dead scared of the cops. They are too accurate for me. Long gone are the good old days where you could shoot for 15+ minutes from the middle of an avenue. Now i just cruise around and rarely kill someone in V. I remember climbing on a car roof and raining sh*t on everyone on III. For me this is what V lacked. Cops will cut your fun, differently that what they did on other GTA games, just add fun and chaos.

Edit: typo.

The quality of them is better not the missions in themselfs.

And NO cars and clothes are not subjective.

Poly count is higher and a LOT more cars aswell as clothes in the game.

Yeah, I keep reading about how you come here to sh*t on V. Does people realize V/Online doesn't make up the ENTIRE Forum? What about GTA I, II, III, VC, SA, A, LCS, VCS, IV, TLaD, TBoGT, and CW?

Like myself, I am in EVERY Section, except I and II, as well as A. Every other GTA Game has my interest, even V. But still, V is my least favorite. But like you, no matter what my taste is, I still like discussing GTA and that is the bottom line.

There is a lot of thick headed, cynical people on here. But I can see you don't take them seriously and you shouldn't. They are a waste of time! ;)

Property missions seem to be still buggy and many people are still getting no answer. So, that "objectively" higher quality isn't entirely true. If you search through Rockstar support forum then there are a lot of issues in the story mode which further challenges your claim.

Now don't tell me that property calls being buggy is a design decision.

Quantity doesn't objectively equal quality though. I will take V's 69 missions over SA's +100 missions any day. :p By your logic V has the best vehicles because it has almost 300 vehicles, more than any other GTA. V would also have the best map because it is the biggest in the series.

Bigger/more =/= better. ;)

very true about those 3s place in the city. They never really felt any sweat. Did what they wanted. I don't remember any other crime-lord bossess but me lfmao. I forget who or what I was killing too.

The presence of the FIB and Steve and Dave towards the very small end helped. Trevor starting business deals with the Chinese (wow if I didn't do the Mackenzie Hangar missions) it would have been even smaller, sort've helped. I really don't remember who or what Michael struggled with.

I guess the relationship of the 3 characters was kind of cool to watch. But yes, some giant mob of crime, other threats, a net or heirerchy of sorts was never there. Nor the climb of from rags to riches.

--

However game had

-- great graphics

-- giant sprawling city

-- many options in cars, clothes, safehouses, cars, clothes

*** I liked the addition of these new gameplay sets, would LOVE to see a return but it's obvious they were rushed or only halfway implemented

-- getaway car ... FINALLY. But wtf no strategy in where you place it, or even if you get a good one (not till last mission anyways). THIS MUST RETURN, ALONG WITH STRATEGIC MAP PLACEMENT. IT SHOULD BE PART OF THE F'N MISSION!!AAA

-- stocks -- AMAZING. POOPLY PUT TOGETHER. At the very least I'm happy I have billions to try and now make after the stories over (assasination missions - great idea by the way; **the next one should give you a list of key figures, hitman style, that way you can play the stocks to your own bidding -- and you don't have to hear the mission, reload the save again to buy the correct stock, look stuff up online, etc. etc.). STocks or drug-sales or something to make $$$ must return, and done right. At the moment stocks say they would have done this, this, and that, but only do that.

-- Impound/Garages -- meh. They still weren't convenient to use. Rockstar blew the load on this.

-- random events, strangers and freaks, celebrities

Why am I getting only $500 a purse? Stupid. Properties are the same issue. Just by putting a crap value (GOD CHANGE THE ## INCREMENT), you could have made that entire portion of gameplay actually worth while. How you can waste it just on that makes me want to rip my hair out like that Jackie Chan meme.

my gripe: I hate that the analogue stick doesn't zoom in and out of the map on the pause menu.

Why it still feels like a GTA Game

You can steal cars, murder innocents, go on a rampage, steal a jet from a military base, blow up everything you see.

So, it still keeps the same likeness of GTA. Just because it doesn't have features others didn't (which didn't make a name for the franchise, the stealing cars and murder made GTA popular) doesn't make it not a "proper" GTA.

Yeah, the sales may increase, but the quality is decreasing. 69 missions for three protags, with six scripted heists, O joy!

Quantity doesn't objectively equal quality though. I will take V's 69 missions over SA's +100 missions any day. :p

'Quality over quantity though' . You're saying that because you're bloody fanboy ofcourse. But OK be happy with your 'quality' missions in V.:lol::lol::lol::lol:. Yea, subpar quality is more like it. I'll take SA and IV's missions over V's dumb scripted missions any day. G'day fanboy.

Nothing to do with beeing a fanboy... its his opinion, which I also share, accept it
