TRex500
Anyone else here feel the same way? To me V just didn't feel like a proper GTA. No Vigilante, are you f*cking kidding me? This was a HUGE factor in making GTA feel like a crime game. Another thing is that, in previous games you felt as if the protags weren't the only criminals. Especially in IV, where you felt that Niko was just a tiny speck in the vast criminal network of LC. In V the three protags are like 'Too big for da police'. Everything they plan goes well wuithout any problem. Feels like these three are the only criminals in Los Santos. Anyone else felt like this playing V? SuperGTFan
Believe me, countless of people have felt like this since the release day in 2013. robban, ten-a-penny, Maibatsu545 and 3 others
PoeticWhisper
The whole point of the game is that you don't start fresh here. This world has been inhabited by the 3 characters long before we ever take into their lives. Michael has already made it, Trevor already lives the life he wants, it's only Franklin that acts like an old fashioned GTA Character cause he is essentially working from the bottom to the top. I've never felt the way you feel OP throughout the 4 times I beat the story. These 3 guys are still a tiny spec on the wheel, and without them the wheel will keep on turning. Also, not everything goes well. Did you expect Michael to be kidnapped by the Chinese? Everything that happened in bury the hatchet? How about Michaels family leaving him? Or how about the fact the story only has a happy ending if you choose C. Yeah, Michael gets saved, Trevor and Michael kinda make up. It's called story progression. Not all GTA's end on a sad note. Vice City had a happy ending. San Andreas kinda did too. Same with GTA III. In fact, majority of them did. GTA V felt like a GTA to me the moment I popped it in, and still does every time I play it. Not al the games need to fit a proper mold, I'm glad that R* gives a sh*t enough to actually make their GTA's feel different but at the end of the day they're still GTA. You can still kill pedestrians, steal cars, f*ck hookers, and play through a cool as story. That's what makes GTA, GTA not some pre-determined bullsh*t mindset people have. Big_Smiley
Yeah i feel ya. Some people said the same thing. Like it's not a proper gta anymore. Imo lV was still a grate game. Even though it went through many changes. Same with V. And that part about planning things..well it's a game. What do you expect? If it was reality you probably mess up and do serious time. All three characters make a plan...then they go in action , rob the bank , and boom they escape. similar to the banks rob's in VC and san andreas. Everything goes well for the protagonist. Osho
Yup. I agree with this, V doesn't feel instead lacks a LOT of the appeal that previous games provided. One would think that 15 years of experience were enough to give us the best GTA, but NO. V made it seemed like they created this disappointing title to troll SP fans and decided to welcome the dumb casuals, and newly joined kids to the series, who are itching for a good multiplayer experience with others. V single player design feels like its completely centered around boring the sh*t out of you and focused on having you switch as fast as possible to the Online world FOREVER! SuperGTFan
I hope this doesn't immediately escalate into a drama fight between Official General, Michigan, Osho, Midnight Hitman, Gamesboy, John Smith, PulpFiction, and Geralt of Rivia. And after a few pages later Son of Liberty abruptly archives it. PoeticWhisper
Robbing a bank or blowing up a FBI building would get you much more time in the clink than selling some product to some drug addicts.

Lol I'm not a IV fanboy. I just gave an example of how IV created a sense of immersion. How you felt like Niko was an ordinary guy trying to survive in the seething underworld of LC. In V the gangs don't attack each other. The story was about the American Dollar but we got six extremely scripted heists. You feel as if M, F and T are the only three crime guys. Madrazo had potential, but faded away. Bobby Smith, slvrcobra, Gnocchi Flip Flops and 1 other
Gnocchi Flip Flops
As a GTA I kind of a hate it. As a game that I play to cruise around the map and explore, it's pretty good.
evoluon--720
Retirement Simulator is the best way to describe this game. Though there are some entertaining elements that I enjoy till this day, The criminal element is definitely limited. Trevor actually has the most enjoyable parts of the game. Frank and Mike seem a little TOOOOO STRAIGHT EDGE for me. Free roam doesnt really fit Mikes character unless your stopping at red lights and obeying the law. Its almost like they want you to role play, which is cool, but they couldve given Frank and Mike a little more aggression. TheOneLibertonian
As a GTA game it lacks substance that the previous games have. It didn't have that feel of a rich and open ended world. Also the criminal activities are lacking too. It is a very good game, but it felt very different and generic IMO. It is very vast and fun, it just didn't have that unique GTA feel in it so to speak. slvrcobra, robban and Payne Killer
Son of Zeus
True that. One of the reasons is of course the lack of Vigilante missions. That was a staple of GTA. Other things like less number of funny glitches, less number of special vehicles, make V feel like an incomplete GTA.

Things didn't turn out good for V in the end, did it?
