I'm lucky I don't have this issue but I tell people how I feel. I would simply tell said person, "listen I really don't care about (example)" but I would do it in a nice way but most of the time I just go with the flow, its easier.

I add just about anyone that is nice and cool to play with but that doesn't mean I'm going to play with you again. If our paths cross again, cool but if not that's just fine.

I don't have weird friends on my list.

I don't actually speak to any of them.

...They are fine for actual gameplay in heists and missions but have a constant 'look at me' needy complex.

No sooner have you put your disc in to load GTA they are inviting you to a party, you don't accept within 10 seconds another invite and so it goes on until you do eventually join the party.

When you do join all you get is:

"why didn't you accept straight away"

"quick come to my apartment I want to show you my cars"

"Help me with my objectives and help me kill (insert gamertag)"

"Look at my garage, nice isn't it, what should I buy next?"

"Can I have a ride in your car"

"You said you would be on line at xxxx"

FFS, it is a game, find some REAL friends. I don't care about your new T20 etc, I have one as well as millions of other people, it is nothing special just to you.

Need to set my options to not show I am on line from now on. Sometimes Ijust wanna do my own sh*t and I do have other people I play with not just a few.

sounds like you're being the bad friend. i mean, the guy just wants to play online with you and have fun... dont be such a shrub...

honestly if that iritates you talk about it.

that kind of people do not relize they are anoying

Just tell them you haven't got time for their sh*t, I get this plenty of times: "Do you have mic ? "join plz !!!!" Usually these people don't last long since I can't be bother to be harrassed constantly by someone I barely know. But yeah just be honest and save yourself some trouble.

I don't let what people say on a video game affect me. If one of them wants to start something I just delete and then block them off my friends list. Not going to deal with drama like that.

Well, clearly OP with his said examples was aiming at people that constantly message him, in other words harrassing him. You know there's a difference between this dude who says: " I would appreciate your help " or " Can you join me ? " and that other guy who goes like: " GET OVER HERE RIGHT NOW " " The f*ck you at brah ?! "

Why add people in the first place if you get rustled so easily

Oh god, I had one of these friends for about a month. At first he seemed cool, he asked me to join his crew and it was all fine and dandy, despite having to face him 1v1 to see how good I am. He was really into free roam wars while I wasn't, but I went with it because it's always more fun with a friend. He always asked if I wanted to do a heist but it always turned into another free roam war when I got on.

But he was super into his crew and started asking me to do things for him, even telling me to get on more to get his crew doing more in the game(he was talking about promoting me, trying to get me to make emblems for him and recruiting "good" players into the crew). Telling me who we had an "alliance" with and which emotes/animations to use in front of people... It was just too much to ask for something that I am doing purely for fun and entertainment. I was getting constant invites even when I was playing a completely different game. He was essentially trying to get me to change my hobby of gaming into a job of getting his crew bigger. I eventually(about a month later) removed him and most of his crew friends from my friends list and it sort of killed my urge to get back on GTA for a while.

I never use a mic unless I'm playing with the only friend I talk to online.

Mostly, it's because I don't want to deal with the substantial amount of idiots Online. Every time before I muted everybody entirely, I would join a lobby and there would always, ALWAYS be somebody blasting sh*tty rap, a baby crying in the background, some 12 year old angrily spewing racial slurs at everyone he comes into contact with, and, of course, mouthbreathers.

And just hearing the conversations that occur is the equivalent of huffing drain cleaner.

Granted, there were a few times over the years that I've meant some pretty amazing people, but that's only like five out of the hundreds of morons I've heard.

i dont have that issue...

i have only a handful of people on my list.

those that make it to my list are not annoying nor attention whore.

they are helpful, willing to help, pretty much professional gta players.

Same here, the only dudes I have on my "friends list" are guys from my crew. Even then, we each want alone time playing sometimes just driving around Paleto Bay and loving life and we respect that. It works.

on the xb1 they have this system where instead of sending and accepting friend requests like the 360, you now follow, so now you get loads of randoms following you. Its got to the point where I'll be playing other games with my real friends and I'd be getting game invites from these randoms. Now thats really annoying…

The last time it happened I sent a message, 'can you remove me from your friends list please?' 'why?' 'no reason, just do it please' 'ok'

Usually, my online buddies consist of people who I meet in FR or heists. Mostly FR, I've met a few people. One in particular I believe is one of those "White Knights" (I think it means being a player that instantly goes to a female characters side). Since I play as a female, he seemed rather kind to me and offered me his protection. I've already disclosed my gender to him already so maybe it's not his humam horn doing all the talking. I won't consider him annoying more uncomforting.

Not an expert in the field on 'annoying friends' as this past year and a half i've never had the trouble of 'annoying friends' since pretty much all the people i've played with aren't overly competitive (except in playlists... Oh lord the playlists) or brag about their virtual materialism to me.

I will say this though: There are numerous players on GTAO who are writhing in in-game loneliness and are compelled to find a new friend whenever another human being with a mic enters their lobby.

I say this because I had an 11 year old cousin who came over and I let him have some fun on good ol' GTAO for a few hours. I'm a very irresponsible person so I couldn't care less if he was several years under the legal age limit, he was having fun and I could play my PC in the next room. I let him use my mic to so he could express his high-pitched squeaker voice to the world (mind you this kid has a squeaker pitch that is above the rest, it's like mickey mouse is lodged in his throat). Anyways, I notice after an hour or so he finds somebody to talk to and they start doing GTA stuff together, the bloke on the other end of the mic sounded 16+ at least mind you. My cousin wasn't the most sociable kid with articulate language or anything but his dry responses of 'yes' and 'no' kept the other player happy enough to stick with him. That guy left and my cousin befriended 2 similar randoms who were clearly much older than my cousin yet stuck around with a squeaker for the company. None of them trolled my cousin, I mean they were genuinely trying to make friends from the looks of things.

Anyways I hopped on GTA the next day and find messages from two of the blokes who put friend requests to my account and both wrote something like 'fun times before, you're cool. Add me'. God I hope they were not virtual pedophiles.

I decided to strap on my best squeaker voice and went around GTAO trying to befriend other players with a mic and within 20 minutes some guy who could easily pass for 20 years voice wise came up to me and tried to befriend me by 'showing his garage, goofy tricks' etc. I responded to him veeeeery dry with a simple 'yes' or 'okay' satisfying his yearning for companionship. Didn't accept his friend request (didn't want him to be heartbroken over my true identity) and returned to my usual group O' buddies on GTAO.

My belief is that some people in GTAO are trapped in virtual isolation and aren't sure of how to socially relate to any companion they encounter others online. Some people respond with submissiveness and tend to follow what the other player is doing and other people try to dominate the situation by showing off their success as a means to express what they're worth. They're desperate to share their experiences with others.

Ignore/delete these types of people if you can't stand being annoyed with them or feeling sorry for them constantly, but let them down lightly if you do so.

My friends often want to follow me around in a session, and if I enter my apartment they'll buzz a moment later. I have a feeling that I need to entertain them. Bloody annoying at times. What about you?

Lol. This is exactly how I feel when people on my friends list join in a session and come up to me, honking their horn and following me. It doesn't annoy me I just don't know what they want me to do xD

I usually have nothing planned if a friend joins a lobby. So I end up driving around LS trying to think of something to do. By the time they ask what where doing, I'm already responding with "any ideas". Not that I hate when friends join lobbies because eventually I get lonely just driving by myself or fending off griefers. I quite enjoy others company. But usually it just ends up having me fly around in a a Velum doing rolls and nose dives.

I was usually swarmed by my friends, I mostly joined their parties or games if I wasn't doing something else. I don't get swarmed now since I'm on XBOX ONE and I only have 2 friends on their who don't bother me and I don't bother with them. Though, if that really does annoy you, just ignore them until they stop. Everyone has a limit.

You could always go bounty hunting with them in Free Mode, but I am not the kind of guy who enjoys that actually.

Virtual-Antics

I've dealt with this problem over the last couple of months. I literally had no breathing space from these 'psn friends.' It was fine to start off with but then they invaded my privacy at all times. It was like I wasn't allowed to play solo or join others.

I liked playing with them in rotation, but they even messaged me offline too. One guy messaged how long I'd be. He was in Australia and messaged me around 8 or 9 o'clock on a Sunday morning UK time. They didn't respect the timezone difference.

I'd get party chat invites several times in a minute if i didn't respond quick enough. It was an every day deal. I had to log off and do something else. I set boundaries with them and capped my time but it made little difference.

One guy asked me in GTA Online about my opinion on a vehicle, and to choose a colour. After telling him nicely that people's tastes are different he still pushed the issue. I was told to join this and do that etc. Then, it got to the point where he'd interrupt my sentences. I didn't need the constant drama and blocked him.

These people have severe boundary issues. Another player almost gave me the third degree, asking where I'd been over three or four days, as though I had no life outside of gaming. :D They'd send daily invites but ignore mine. They weren't interested in making friends, just someone to jump when they said so.

Which is sad because I'm a friendly guy - a team player and can be independent.

Maybe they don't have a Mic, They don't like talking, or Maybe its Broke? My Mic Broke on me back in March and Up until last weekend, I played GTA without one. I actually Played the Game/missions a lot better because I wasn't talking and Playing at the same time. I stayed away from Heists except Playing a Few with Friends.

I can relate, OP...I have someone on my friend list who is like that as well. I became annoyed with the party invites, 30 seconds after logging on- everytime. I too, did the whole "appear offline" thing for a couple of weeks, but after a while I became tired of hiding. One day I told him politely I was not up for chatting, and would not be for quite some time. After that the invites stopped. He sends me messages every so often, and I respond, so the communication lines are still open.

If you are still hiding, I suggest you tell your online friend (in a kind manner) whenever you are not up for joining a party. Just be clear that it is nothing personal; you just want to unwind quietly in some games.
