I'm going with what i can tell from playing the game. And from playing the game i can tell that Rockstar clearly does not and have not cared about keeping a cheaterfree environment over the past months. From my point of view they haven't done ANYTHING productive/effective against blatant cheaters ruining the game so far.

Please do tell me why I need to change cid's on a regular basis, also on my 8th psn account... Rockstar is the reason, they DO ban modders and I can tell you that from experience. You just always see modders/cheaters online because there is ways around it (ie changing console id or making a new account)

Obviously this is for ps3, I have no idea how PC works though.

How about making one exe for multiplayer, and one exe for singleplayer, effectively separating the two and changing the hashes on the mp-exe regularly?<

Would that work? If not, why not?

Yes, that would work but R* wanted a smooth transition between SP and GTAO. So now you can jump into GTAO without loading the whole map again. A separate exe would increase the loading time to almost the same as if you restart the game.

So uuuh.. A "smooth" transition is whats keeping us from a somewhat cheaterfree online-experience on PC? I'm pretty sure everyone and their grandmother would be OK with this.

No, they would not if that means loading times up to 2 minutes or more only to enter GTAO. Add another 2 minutes to return to singleplay and each GTAO time-out - plenty of those on all platforms - would mean 4 minutes staring at a load screen.
On a sidenote, the whole discussion about separate exe's and dedicated servers is pointless. Both require a massive overhaul of the game engine and would change gameplay features. It's simply too late to make those changes now.
But it's never too late for Alexander Blade to start using encryption and obfuscate the code in the ScriptHook. Not only would that make it much harder for cheaters to create an online version but it also enables him to actually go pro-active and f*ck up griefer menu's. He could add code so griefer features (masskill/teleport other players) wouldn't work. Or crash the game.
That's what I meant earlier when I wrote he could do much more to protect the legit GTAO players against cheaters. Unfortunately he said this about it: "I'm not protecting Online from cheaters, I'm protecting Script Hook V users ." source

Said griefers could also remove that code, just like they are removing his onlineblock. I'm not putting any blame or any demands on Alexander Blade, Rockstar developed and is still developing this game that is still selling like hotcakes. THEY have the power and obligation to do something about this, not Alexander Blade.

And why wouldn't a lightweight .exe that loads only the necessary files to load up online work? During an error it would fall back to the clouds or whatever with a small menu to join online in different ways. (Invite only, crew, jobs, blah blah)

People that play online mostly never touch singleplayer either, and there is never a real need to switch between the two instantaneously, at least i can't see it..

If you want to play singleplayer, fine, exit the online portion of the game and fire up the singleplayer instead! 2 minutes! Big woop!

What are you eventually gonna spend the money on? Getting blown up by cheaters in fancy vehicles instead of sh*tty ones?

Forget about it, there really is no way to stop hackers or modders. They can end their reign of terror for a little while, but with every update or anything new, hackers and modders are waiting to strike once again. The Xbox one though is locked up like a heavily guarded prison I don't think anyone can hack that, but we can't stop those connection errors. Not quite sure about the PS4 cause I don't have it, but um... Yeah.

I have a PS4 and it's just like the Xbox One,It's impossible to hack mod with these two but both PS4 and XB1 suffer from connection problems but hey at least there's no modders on Next Gen

And because of some "goodies", you officially excuse every cheater that is currently ruining the game.

Very justifiable.........

That online block in AB's ScriptHook is a bad joke because he adds comments in the code how to remove it. And to make the joke worse, you can disable the 'block' in the compiled DLL with notepad plus. That's how simple it is.
So Alexander Blade puts zero effort in making it harder for cheaters to abuse the scripthook. You could even say he makes it easier on purpose, for reasons one could only guess. Bottom line stays the same, you can keep barking at R*'s tree while 2 forum sections away AB is releasing the tool all cheater and griefer menu's rely on. And in an awkward turn of events he even gives them support.
You should think about that the next time a griefer blows up everyone in the lobby.
Another negative result of online cheaters. Quote from the subreddit: "the game also implements live decryption and obfuscation methods".
If that's the way R* is going with the game all mods are gonna suffer in the long run.

The one who is ruining the game for everyone is Rockstar. It is their own fault because they purposely released an extremely unstable piece of software that allows people to gain Administrator like powers that enable them to cheat in the game. They did not implement an anti cheat system like Punkbuster.

People cheat because Rockstar allows them to ;)
