How To Choose Rims

They are labeled for a reason. But, grain of salt to many as they put whatever is most expensive or outlandish on whatever they have.

If ya like the look, to hell with what other's think. Or so it goes...

Class = Rim Category

-----------------------------------

Supers = High End/Sport/SUV
Sports = High End/Sport/SUV
Sports Classics = High End/Sport/Lowrider/Muscle/Tuner
Muscle = High End/Sport/SUV/Muscle/Tuner
Coupes = High End/Sport/SUV/Tuner
SUV = High End/Sport/SUV/Muscle
Sedans = High End/Sport/SUV/Tuner
Compacts = High End/Sport/Tuner

Little things:

Sometimes stock tires look better than custom ones, e.g. if they have a lower profile by default.

"American" cars look better with low spoke, chunkier rims and "European" cars better fit rims with lots of spokes.
Also, only very old cars, generally cars made before about 1963, should have whitewall tires.

Obviously it's up to you in the end to put your car together however you wish but these are rules I more or less go by.

Obviously rim choice is all personal preference, but are there any generally accepted guidelines for choosing rims that suite a particular car?

The free chrome rims.

Buy a jerry can, pour a few circles around your car, shoot the liquid that came out.

wheel-vs-rim-5512cedb81180.jpg

The terms "wheel" and "rim" are often used synonymously, as in decorative wheels being called rims. Some authors are careful to use "rim" for only the outer portion of a wheel, where the tire mounts,[6] just as the rim of a coffee cup or a meteor crater does not refer to the entire object. Others use "rim" to mean the entire metal part to which the tire mounts,[7] because the rim and the wheel are often cast or stamped from a single piece of metal instead of being distinct as with wire wheels. At the same time, "wheel" may refer to the entire rotating assembly, including the tire.

OT: How to choose a rim? Easy. Whatever looks good on said vehicle, same with paint.
