How similar do you find Los Santos to it's real life equivalent LA

You simply can't say that LS is bigger than LC. Look at the road density in LC, much more than in LS

Look at how big the roads are in LS. Most of the streets in LS are 4-lane streets while in LC most of them are 2-lane streets. And look at the highways, V has both the Del Perro and Olympic Freeway which are 8-lane freeways, the other freeways in the city have six lanes and at the docks four lanes. LC only has expressways with four lanes. That makes a huge difference.

 

If you only take LC then you can fill up 80% of LS, if you take Alderney too it's pretty much the same size but Alderney isn't part of LC.

YOU ARE WRONG. Los Santos is PHYSICALLY a larger place than the ENTIRETY of IV's map.

 

 

 

 

It's pretty accurate IMO, but it just feels a lot more vertical than real life LA looks.

Also, the whole idea of GTA basing its last two depictions on a mediocre Arnold Schwarzenegger movie seems REALLY f*cking stupid in my eyes, it just doesn't make sense on SO many levels.

Citywise, LC is bigger than LS. Not the whole map, just the city. This is facts.

It's last two depictions of two of the most important cities in the United States. Y'know, the two cities featured in the majority of American media and are extremely influential in the crime genre. Of course that when R* does it, their depictions are based on a sh*tty Arnold Shwarzenegger movie (which was also one of his lowest grossing).

Yeah sure, you're right in a few aspects, but only in a few areas.

Look at it this way, LS is in many aspects just as gritty as LC. Are you even looking hard enough?

Trash is thrown around everywhere, graffiti is splattered across most of South LS, the homeless are all over Stab City and East/South LS!

If anything you could simply interpret as LC being based more on TV crime dramas like 24 being where they built most of the city's grit and depression (NY is one of the safest cities in the U.S. atm) while LS is based more so on typical action movie depictions of LA.

 

 

No, I very specifically said "however unintentional", which means if Rockstar did mirror the themes used in Last Action Hero, it was likely not meant as a direct nod to the movie, but more a result of the fact that, traditionally, LA is depicted as more bright and colorful and less realistic, and New York is more often depicted as a dark, cold, gritty place. Last Action Hero was just a perfect example of that because it was actually hanging a lamp shade on that trope.

 

Now I'm not talking about pure cleanliness. I'm talking about the "attitude" of each place.

Yes, that's exactly what I'm getting at, and I was using Last Action Hero as an example because, just f*cking watch the clips and tell me their depiction of LA doesn't remind you of V, and their depiction of NY doesn't remind you of IV. Seriously.

I must say that they nailed Sandy Shores because Salton Sea looks exactly like it. Salvation Mountain is very similiar as well.

look man, not sure if you are serious or a troll, but you literally insulted everyone here for disagreeing with your ''opinion''. we understand you are free to have your own opinions, but this is GTA Forums, facts are facts and you can ask everyone here. Los Santos ALONE is bigger than liberty city. and this is not an opinion its a fact. if you're just gonna keep arguing about that you might as well give the game another playthrough and drive a helicopter from edge to edge across the map and you'll see. you seem to be proving LC is bigger than LS just because you remember it being bigger before V came out or you dont own V yet. trust me i had the same thoughts with san andreas.

I just realized that. Now the lack of Long Beach is pretty disheartening.

More roads does not make a city or any place bigger than the other. Besides LS has wider roads. So that might show you, why you can get from point to point quicker, and show you that you can fit about 4 of LC's lanes on 1 LS's block .
