Can you imagine a duster with a cannon, Red Baron's style?

Talking exclusively about missions:
-The Hydra is the way to go when you need to travel long distances.

-The Savage can shoot rockets non-stop, plus if you use R1-L1 to switch between targets you can eliminate everyone really quick.

-The Savage can also tilt more than the Hydra, so the cannon is much more useful.

-The Savage is very big and that can be a real problem, due to the funky stuff the game does sometimes. It can turn you upside down and blow you up right away if you hit something with the blades, in some rare occasions.

-The Hydra can't carry any passengers, which is good because sometimes you'll find an asshole who decides to rob your Savage, but is bad if a teammate needs a pick up.

 

Also, those people who complain about the Savage armor are just "plane" idiots who hover right on top of the enemies -_- Yes, it should have armor, but you can just Rocket everyone on the ground from a safe distance and you won't smoke at all. You can even do some fly-bys with the Cannons and you WILL NOT smoke.

Considering the Savage is also much cheaper, I prefer it over the Hydra for missions.
About everything else, the Hydra is better.

I'd buy both tho, still waiting to save up for a Hydra

Get the Hydra, it's a lot faster and a lot more agile.

As far as Free Mode, both the Savage and the Buzzard are easy targets. Anyone good with a Rhino tank can easily take those two out before they even get within range. Same with the homing missile launcher, although the missiles on that aren't always guaranteed to hit.

Oh no? Well, there goes the last reason to have a Savage. Now noobs can steal those missiles as well. It was the only thing i liked about the Savage.

the volume of fire is ludicrous though, a miniguns wall of death plus rocket spam

 

 

To be honest, it's the explosive rotary cannon that really needs a gunner, not the rocket pods.

 

I might actually consider taking a co-pilot if the Savage is set up that way.

Even better: the "dust" actually works like tear gas.

 

Back on topic, the Hydra is the one you need over the Savage.

The Savage has the gun and the fast rockets (and the badass look to it), but I think you could stab it with the broken bottle a few times and the tail would break off. It's also has maneuverability slightly better than a beached whale. A heli/heli combat in the city skyline between a Savage and a Buzzard would result in cheap pre-owned Savage parts.

The Hydra is the fastest vehicle in the game, yet can also hover, has the gun and homing rockets, spawns in more places than any other aircraft, and no passenger seat for people to take the missiles away. A Buzzard can still land in tighter places.

The Buzzard is the most maneuverable of the armed aircraft club. It's also the cheapest and it's faster than the Savage and most other helicopters. It also has the least protection for the occupants as the front of it is all unarmored glass.

 

That being said, I own all three plus a Vestra and Duster. I don't regret any of those purchases.

You guys are very informative

Right now I'm saving up for the Hydra. I'm only at 1.7 mill right now which sucks. I haven't been earning money too much lately, since the free roam events have disappeared. but, I am in the middle of Pacific Standard heist so I'll make some money off that again soon.

After the novelty of the Hydra wears off, I'll start saving for the Savage and then the Buzzard. I already have a Rhino and both Insurgents so I'm content but will be happy once I get my Hydra
