Rockstar Social Club patches: error code 1 my odd problem and solution

Hey all,

 

So I have had this problem for a while whenever there is an update for the social club. I had been in a pickle with this one when I first got the game but nowhere online was there a solution that helped me. I did, however, come to a solution that will hopefully help others.

 

When I installed the game initially I forgot where my social club placed itself (I have three partitions). I found that I had social club installed on drive C and drive D. I think I had it installed on one drive before from a while back but somehow when I installed GTA 5 it placed another on a different drive. Even though I uninstalled and reinstalled the social club the error persisted. So my solution was to keep the social club on my main drive (drive C) and manually deleted the one on the other drive. The odd part is that the game keeps reinstalling it on the other drive that I have to remove it from. So whenever there is a social club update I have to keep removing the other directory manually.

 

So in the event that anyone keeps having error code 1 from the Rockstar Social Club, look around and see if you have multiple copies of Rockstar Social Club installed! lol
