Problems with race countdown?

Anyone else experiencing this since the last patch?

 

PS4, by the way.

 

Sometimes the count down will freeze for one or more players, allowing everyone else to go but leaving you stuck, and sometimes check points won't activate?

 

I had one where my count down started late, everyone took off at 3 (when it appeared on my screen), and it stopped at 2 and I could accelerate. I do have a video of that one.

 

Other variations of the same problem have occurred, but the worst one was where my count down started as normal, ended at 2, and left me stuck at the starting line with one other person for roughly 5 seconds while everyone else took off... and the first check point wouldn't activate for anyone but the first person through it, so once I was able to drive I caught up to everyone having a demo derby on the first check point. About 5 seconds after I pulled up to it, it triggered for me and I took off, the rest of the race was normal but 4 people were never able to trigger the first check point.

Not posted in help/support because I'm not asking for help or support, I just want to know if it's happening to anyone else.

Yeah this has definitely happened to me multiple times to the point where it gets annoying.

On ps4 as well.

I've just transferred from PS3 to XBox ONE and am also having the same problem at the beginning of races.

 

3... 2... uh, why have the other cars started?

 

1... stay calm

 

GO... hit that boost button to try and regain some ground.

 

It's weird to say the least. I will post a support request on the Rockstar Support website and see what they say.

I don't have an issue with the countdown... it's the rest of the race that follows that I have a problem with.

In actual response to the question, yes I have had this kind of thing happen on XB1 recently too.

Glad it's not just me then, but it's severly crapped out online racing.

 

And isn't catchup, slipstream, constant barging enough of a problem already?

 

I love online racing, but getting a decent lobby is sometimes really tough. The best way is to be the host yourself and be very patient. How many times have there been five or six people in the lobby - one or two people leave - and then immediately one or two others join. Why don't they WAIT?

Always happens to me but never once in my favour always seems to be other people that get it. PS4

Yeah, fairly common issue on ps4 anyway. Something else for rockstar to ignore and probably won't fix.

Yes happens all the time. Quite often cars will go before the countdown is done. Happens to me a lot, it actually screws me up because I end up missing the boost because my car is already accelerating forward. Sometimes the countdown goes, everybody takes off, but the timer is stuck at 0:00:00 and none of the checkpoints register. Everyone drive through the first one, not noticing they have actually not gotten it, then end up having to turn around and wait for the race to actually start.

The countdown problem has become less of a problem.

 

I'm still getting it every third or fourth race, maybe, but it's not that frequent now.

As you can see, as soon as the player causing the lag leaves, checkpoints registers. I've noticed the countdown glitch as well, I assume it also has to do with connection issues.

This has happened to me on PC, it was counting down and before the final number appeared the player next to me started racing even though the race hadn't started. But I haven't experienced the one where the checkpoint won't register.
