Driving faster racing trick?

I was racing with a few 'experienced' racers and they kept jumping on to the pavement/curb and were getting crazy speed.

 

Is this some kind of trick like doing a wheelie on a bike makes you faster?

Yep, it's a physics bug, where you randomly gain an amount of boost after you drive over a slight bump. It's been there since IV. Some GTAO racers are completly raping that bug, as you can see.

It only improves acceleration, not actual top speed.

Leave it to Rockstar to make things that would slow you down racing in the real world, make you faster in GTA.

It Doesn't matter, Catch up/contact is always on and whoever is behind just rams into you.

Nah Catchup or slipstream is not on in my race and we race clean

Great video for those that haven't seen it. I do want to add that he's wrong when he says only rwd cars can do the mid drive boost. It can be done with awd as well.

You can if you know when to properly utilize the mid drive boost

Catch up is NOT always on.

 

But contact should always be ON..regardless.
